Good morning. It's 67 and partly cloudy. The high should be about 70 and rain is expected.

Got a bit of a late start on my posting today as my internet service was down earlier. By the time it came back online I had to take my parents 3 dogs to the groomers then head off for an appointment with the foot doc this morning. He's changing my antibiotic regimen from once a day with ceftriaxone to twice a day with ceftazadine because he thinks the sudamonis bug I tested positive for may be becoming resistant to the ceftriaxone. Good thing I have an iv port in my chest. Went to Lowe's this morning to get a small can of flat buff white latex paint and found one just waiting for me on the 'Oops!' rack priced at $1. It's always nice to be able to save money as the result of someones mistake in a case like that. I always check the 'Oops!' rack first. The work load on the layout will be light today as I may have to take my mother to the hospital on Fort Polk this afternoon so she can get some meds she needs from the pharmacy. It all depends on whether my sister can pick them up for her (she works in the hospital). Last night I was busy checking my locos on the program track to verify what type (brand) decoder they have and the address of each loco. I would then use my LetraTag label maker to make an adhesive label to put on the bottom of each loco. The label has the brand of decoder, type (if known) and the address. For example, my pair of Atlas/Roco GP40's both have Digitrax DZ125 decoders and they both have the address of 15 since they are permanently joined to each other (physically mu'd) by wires that join the pickups of both locos together. The same applies to a pair of Athearn locos on the inner loop (a GP38-2 and my GP42X). They both have Bachmann decoders and are set to the address of 18 since they are both wired together as well.

Good afternoon folks

It was 45 F as I headed in this morning. Our high will be 64 F.

Temperatures are better than they were this weekend while we camping with my son’s Boy Scout troop. Friday night it dropped down to 26 F and Saturday night it 36 F. I am glad we had cold weather sleeping bags. The camping was a lot of fun. My son was able to finish up his camping requirements for Tenderfoot. The scouts participated in an Orienteering event. My son’s team was the only team in his troop that finished their course. Unfortunately they did two points out of order and did not get credit for them.

We came home and I had to take out a couple of air conditioners and cover the big unit in the living room. Of course I strained my back doing so and I am not in pain. The over the counter stuff is not working too well at the moment.

This morning at work has been insane. I had several major fires to content with. After dealing with one idiot for the morning that would not provide with the information I needed to process the fiscal documents as he was required to do for a project, I was ready to take the day off. He kept giving me the information in small useless pieces. I finally had to sick my supervisor on him. After she read him the riot act and a few other niceties we finally got the paperwork submitted and moved up the chain of command.

Tonight my son’s troop is having their Court of Honor. He should be receiving several merit badges he earned over the summer.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Well, tweetleedee!

This sounds pretty---CHEEP!! CHEEP!!----oh---bother this seems to have become all for the birds----:eek:

-----------------------------

Hello,

Back from runnin' around north of here--and in Woodstock ON-----found some interesting stuff---like some more S-2's from ARNOLD---not one of them with issues! Heeheehee;):D:p

I subscribed to their tweets, we'll see if they are chicken salad or chicken droppings...

I now know for a fact that I have 23 DCC equipped locos. 12 have Digitrax DZ125 decoders, 1 has an NCE decoder, 2 have Bachmann EZ decoders, 6 have Bachmann standard decoders, 1 has a Digitrax DH123AT decoder and 1 has a Lenz decoder.

Howdy, y'all, did you miss me? :) Got back last night a little before midnight. Man, for a relaxing trip, I'm bushed. We went to the Virgin Islands, Barbados, Antigua, and St. Lucia. Nice islands but the cruise ship sucked. No A/C in our stateroom for two days, half the stuff on the ship didn't work, and getting on and off 3,600 people just isn't fun. All the "nominal" additional charges added up to almost $500. You had to pay for everything, including a coke if you were in the casino. Nope, not taking that kind of cruise again.

I see we had a visit from our "friend", Al Mayo, while I was gone. When I used to frequent across the street, where Al made constant attacks, I had my contacts in California run him. He's a black LA street thug that moved to the east coast when things got to hot. He's a got a rap sheet as long as you arm, has had several involuntary psych hospital admissions, and is generally a pretty violent guy. It's best not let him know anything about you and not respond. He always attacks Jeffrey first, so just report him to the mods and ignore him after that. He loves a fight and, if you don't give him one, he tends to go away.

The weather was beautiful on the cruise. Now that I'm back, we have a tropical storm about to make landfall in Mobile. Figures. :) I don't think this one will be too bad but it's going to make a weird eastward movement over Florida once it comes onshore and may pop out again into the Atlantic. These late season storms are always really unpredictable.

I haven't had a chance to read all the postings yet but I hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected and no major tragedies occured while I was gone.

Good morning. It's 58 and clear. The high will be near the mid 70's and it will be partly cloudy.

I went to see the foot doc yesterday. He had good things to say overall and a new set of X-rays was done. The cut bone ends are showing some signs of regrowth. He changed my antibiotics so the pseudomonas bug the last culture showed was there won't have time to become resistant. The pharmacy should be calling me this morning to confirm the change. On the layout front I spent much of last night cataloging all the locos I have on the layout and in the display rack. That comes to 37 locos, 23 of which are DCC. 12 of those are in permanently mu'd pairs. I'm using a program called 'RRTRAINS 2000' to catalog all my locos and rolling stock. The rolling stock is gonna take a while because I have a lot of it and more is on the way. Some of the new stuff was recently purchased on sale while others are older cars other modelers don't want anymore. I'll take anything I can get, within reason of course.

Good Morning

Hello Jim. No mention of weirdy tropical whatzits doing odd things with the general directions! That'll really jinx it now!!:):):D:D I went on one cruise several years ago--never again:mad: The only cruising i do is with friends 65' catamaran. Only 5 on board and we go where we wanna go---so there HARRRUUUUMPH:D:D:D

DEAN'S Feedmill in Woodstock ON--got a tour in this compact little place---current structure was built in the 1950's after a fire took out the first one. That one was around since the early 1860's. The cat in the photo on the left is one of about 15 cats who inhabit the facilities---being expert mousers and ratters there has been no infestations to speak of here!
The foundry that I worked at for a few years WWAAAYY back then is no longer a going concern.
Something I came across when doing some shots of the small CP yard in Woodstock ON---this local had only 3 cars and it was going along the well worn spur line to Ingersoll ON---

:)Hi everyone! Wow, it is a wet one today. We have had a bucket or two of rain with some fairly strong wind gusts. Nothing bad, just a lot of it.

Jim, glad you returned safely and can "now" relax. I don't remember any vacation trip that I didn't come back more tired than before I left. Just another reason we go camping within 100 miles of home. I believe the cruise ships are becoming more like the airlines; comfort and class are things of the past. They all remind me of floating malls, now.

Al??? Didn't see the post, has it been deleted? You would think that MR would be far from his interest.

Guess I need to go out to the garage and see if any water came in under the door. It rained pretty heavy at times during the night.

CUL:)

WELCOME BACK JIM!

See I told ya......Florida! Not to far not to close....JUST.......Right!:D;):p Just glad you made it back in one piece and didn't end up in some Island Jail for beating a cruise line captin to death with his own shoes!:D:p

Rain:confused: What's that, we haven't seen a decent rain in over 3-4 weeks! Rex, send some of that rain this way Lord know we need it!!

[edit] on the rain started to rain here real good around 5:00pm and still raining! Of course Rex, you had nothing to do with the rain we are getting!hehehehehehehehehehe....

Send him back, and I'll see he gets the attention he deserves.

Evening, everyone.

Our tropical storm did come ashore is now headed towards Chris. Weird storm because we had all the rain and wind after the center of the storm moved east. Had just a little over three inches and 40 mph wind gusts but nothing too bad, except for some downed trees. It's also surprisingly chilly for a tropical system, with a temperature of only 62 all day long.

Jeffrey, I'm glad to hear the healing is comng along. I sure hope that bug gets killed off. I haven't even thought about cataloging all my stuff. I guess I should, for insurance purposes, if nothing else, but I'm just too lazy. :)

Barry, I knew our cruise and a hurricane would somehow be related. I just didn't think it would wait until we got home. The weather in the Caribbean was beautiful with only a few showers. Indeed, all my trips to the Caribbeam have been on sailboats and that's the only way I'll go back. I know some people love cruise ships but I suspect that eating and drinking are the principal reasons. That's one mean looking cat at the feed mill. Kind of nice compact structure for a layout though. What kind of locomotives are those? They look like some kind of GP-20's.

Thanks, Rex. I agree with you that cruise ships and that type of vacation are way more trouble than they are worth. I'd much rather have spent the week camping. That Eternabond tape did wonders for the roof. Not a single leak anywhere and today was sure a good test.

Thank you too, Chris. Florida seems like an awful good choice for a nice camping trip. Looks like you'll get at least a little more rain before it's over as the remains of Ida rotate east.

It finally stopped raining here but it's still breezy. We should get back to normal by Thursday and have a nice weekend ahead. I still have to get down to the basement and make sure the layout is still there. :)

[Edit] Terry, I still have a few friends in California that would give Al a nice welcome back if he wanted to visit. :D The really sad thing is he's a pretty good modeler and has a nice layout. Unfortunately, he also as crazy as a betsy bug.

Darn Chris, I helped you out and then you refuse to give me credit. (Reminds me of the days I had to work for a living.:D

I wasn't looking forward to it myself until I discovered the RRTRAINS 2000 program during an internet search. It's a quick download, has a low learning curve and is quite user friendly. It also automatically makes a backup of all your records when you exit the program. It's set up for use in cataloging 33 different scales from Z to #5 in numerous categories. The program is free and can be found HERE.

Good Morning

A beautiful sunny day to remember those who went to fight for our freedoms in. A friend of mine called me up earlier to tell me that he and a mutual friend of ours -- who actually owns a Sopwith biplane (apparently not a 'Camel---I'm never sure of these things--)---is going to do some flybys around here---hopefully I'll actually get some shots of this:confused::):)

Good morning. It's 56 and sunny. The high will be about 72 and it will be partly cloudy.

I started yesterday on the cataloging of all my rolling stock. Ordinarily this would be a long tedious business but the program I'm using makes it very easy. Most of the fields (33 over 4 pages) are already provided and all I have to do is select what I want or enter a short description such as 'Boxcar' or 'Gondola' for model then select '40 ft', '50 ft', etc. Yesterday I entered 30 pieces of rolling stock in an hour and I was just taking my time and taking a couple of breaks to work on another project. On the health front, the Home Care nurse came by yesterday and changed my dressings and applied the salve the doc prescribed on the surgical incisions which seem to be healing nicely. This morning I started on the new iv antibiotic that was prescribed. I have to infuse two of these a day for two weeks. At least it's easy to do. I just run the tubing up under my shirt, hook it up, put the vial in my pants pocket and continue to do whatever I was doing before, then 45 minutes later unhook the vial and throw it away. Nothing to it.

Good morning everyone.

Welcome back Jim! I was wondering what kind of horror stories you were going to have. It sounds like you had a decent time when you weren't be herded like cattle!:)

I now have a small coop grain elevator for a barren section of the layout. It was one of those kits that supported itself really well while the glue dried. I was able to assemble most of the kit two nights ago and finished last night. I still need to add signs, weathering and other details, but the paint and assembly are done. It's so nice to drop in buildings where there once was a sea of blue foam!:) I'm going to need a whole slough of buildings pretty soon to keep me busy through the winter. I had better make my Christmas list!

Speaking of Christmas, I think we're decorating the store for Christmas today. I had better get in the mood to make it fun. It's a little early, but I don't want to deal with it the closer we get to Thanksgiving.

I hope everyone has a great day!
