Evening, everyone.
Haven't had much time to stop by for coffee. Let's see, the wife wanted a new treadmill so we sold the one we had to a woman in a two door Chevy Cavalier.

Ended up disassebmling the whole thing ti the puring rain so we could jam it in her car. I haqve no idea if it will ever work again. Then had to go to Sears to pick up the EZ assembly new one. three hours later and two calls to Sears and I finally had it working. The instructions were directly converted from Chinese by a person not an native English speaker.
Had to change the downspoout and add one of those roll-up attachments so it unrols when it rains and directs water away from the foundation. I also had to dig a diversion ditch so the water would get further away from the deck before it made the turn downhill. The entire underside of my deck is pure sand, probaboly leftover from when they were stockpiling sand for the brick mortar. With all the rain we've been having lately, the drainage has formed a nice little Grand Canyon and is starting to wash out all the footings. Never had a problem in the last three years because it never rained. I have no idea how the previous owner could have let this go on for seven years.
Sounds like a lot of you could have stayed in bed for a day or two. Bob, it always seems that one thing causes at least one other thing to break.
Prhillip, nice pictures of the bike. The full face helmet is a good idea.
Sandy, she sure is a pretty dog. My wife would go nuts if it wandered up to out house as a stray. She loves anything blonde. We'd have big fight with four cats already on the roster.
Barry, you've done a good job of finally not stealing our rain. It won't stop now. You can turn off the spigot for a while. Those are some great pictures you're posting. I'm saving them in a directory for inspiration photos.
I did get a chance to do few detail things to the layout. One of the things I've been wanting is Bott's Dots. those raised yellow bumps in the center of the highway. I couldn't figure out anything that was the right shap and close to scale until I happened to be looking at the pins in the wife's sewing box. Eureka! Just snip off part of the bottom, drill a small hole, paint them yellow, and they are very presentable Botts' Dots. After looking at some of Barry's pictures, I also realized the sidewalks in the residential area were too clean. They need grass growing in the cracks. A little of Aleen's Sticky Glue painted in the cracks and sprinkled with WS fine grass looks good if you give it an hour to dry and then vacuum up the excess. The only thing I should have done was use an x-acto knife and made some of the cracks crooked. A project for another day.
It's been raining like crazy down here. We've had about six inches in three days, which is the most I've seen in my almost four years here. It's all coming from a closed low over Texas and Arkansas that looks just like tropical storm on radar except it's inland. It hasn't moved in almost a week so it just keeps pumping mositure up from the gulf. It should start moving by Sunday but it looks like another low will dive down from Canada so the rain looks to continue for a while. No flooding problems here yet but another day or two of this and we'll get some river and creek flooding. I'm hoping it's dry for our railroad swap meet up in Pelham tomorow. How's the rain been up at your place, Rex? Looks like you've been getting pounded pretty good.
Luckily, the tropics are quiet because even a weak tropical storm would be more rain than we could handle. There's one disturbance out where Fred formed but it will have the same fate, turn north, stir up some fish, and die.
I'm sure I missed a lot of messages so I hope everyone is doing as well as they can and that not too many things are breaking.
Edit: Forgot to welcome
Notch. This a fun place with lots of different personalities (including one that throws monkey dung) and it's always a good place to drop by for some coffee and chat. At some point, you'll get stuck with the bill, though, usually because Chris is broke again.
