Jeffrey, it's an infection. Get down to the ER and get checked out. You may need some IV antibiotics. You don't want to fool around with the wound healing problems you have.

Tomarrow is the big day in which I find out if I still have a job after October 9th!:( If I get layed off I can re-apply for another job a way lower position in a new job. 256 people will have to fight hand to hand combat for 20 new openings in the county:mad::eek: If I had time I would go into detail on how this whole thing is worst DMSF I have ever been in! Here's how bad it is.......The head of HR department is taking the buy out and running for the hills for no reason:confused::confused:! Me's think's there's something wrong here!

On a good note, I got a couple new yards and a posible big contract! I'm not going to hold my breath but it's worth thinking about;)! Well got to got to work........See Ya!

Good morning.

It's 72 and partly cloudy. The high will be around 87 and there's a chance of rain.

Got the foot operation overwith yesterday and spent the rest of the day higher than a box kite in a hurricane. This morning is the first time I've seen the docs work. I don't know what they used as an anesthetic but it worked. I hadn't slept that good in a while. The doc had made an incision between 3 and 4 inches in length in the right side of my right foot so he could remove part of the Cuboid bone and part of the Fifth metatarsal bone. After the offending pieces were removed he stitched it up. I examined the area today as I changed the dressing and didn't see any torn out stitches. He said it would bleed for a while but that would stop in a couple of days. I go back to see him on the 11th for a follow-up. I woke up around midnight with a low grade fever but it broke several hours later and my temp is now normal. I just took my morning dose of medicine and antibiotics so I should be good for the rest of the day. Now what should I do today? Decisions, decisions.

Good morning folks.

I haven't been in for a while. I hope you are all doing well. We had our final weekend up at my Mother's lake house and it was beautiful. Highs in the low eighties and sunny. We've had one of the coolest summers on record, but my two weekends up north have been two of the warmest. How lucky am I?

Chris, I wish you luck in dodging the flying manure!

Jeffrey, I hope your foot heals quickly. You certainly have enough to deal with.

Jim, your experience with that new to you locomotive was frustrating just to read.

I use to make fun of the customers that said they had to check with the wife first. Then I got married and understood the powers of she who must be obeyed! I told someone once that I would put my foot down, but every time I do, I step in s**t!:)

I made great progress yesterday on the layout. My painting marathon has continued with an eye on starting the depot soon. My depot project will be quite time consuming, so I want to get most of "Mankato" going before I start. The problem with moving forward on the buildings is funding. Until now, I have been able to buy whatever kits I wanted within reason. Now I'm feeling convicted every time I look on eBay or Walthers. I guess if I find the right deal, I'll snatch something up. Maybe that's part of the fun?

I hope all of you have a great day. Mine should be easy.

Good Morning---

Jeff That sounds like what Jim thinks it is--get it checked out!!

Chris Here's hoping that you still be working---otherwise the househusband for rent seems plausible:eek:

I got today off --go in for a few hours tomorrow and then work Friday---try to get some kind of a schedule worked out a bit better next week:eek:

I'se be sittin' back with the morning coffee and toasted bagel----at least 'Spring' is all cuddled up:)

Called the doc about the fever and he says not to worry about it. It's a side effect of the anesthetic and to keep on taking my antibiotics as prescribed.

Jeffery- I've been watching your posts the last couple of days and am glad you are on the road to recovery. I'll keep you in my prayers as well as several others on the forum.

It constantly amazes me to see the concern the members of this forum have for one another. It makes me feel there is hope for this nation, inspite of the politicians.

There are many people here with health problems, employment concerns and family situations that get a little support and encouragement here that I have only seen in church families. We harass each other and poke fun at certain people who deserve it, but it is part of what makes this a caring family group. Thanks for allowing me to be part of this forum.

Afternoon, everyone.

Jeffrey, any temperature of 102 is a mtter of grave concern for you. If the oral antibiotics are keeping your temperature down, that's fine, but any temperature of 102 or more should send you straight to the ER. They can give you something like IV Keflex to get the infection under control before it spreads. I'm sure you have a good doctor but they sometimes don't take low grade fevers seriously enough, especially in someone with your circulatory problems. As for what you should do today, I'd be eating loratabs like candy and doing as little as possible. That sucker is going to start hurting bad if you do any weight bearing.

Chris, I just have a feeling you'll be one of the survivrors. Don't ask me why, but you seem to be such a hard worker and have a good sense of humor that, as a boss, I'd want you around. I hope those side jobs work out if I'm wrong.

Corey, lake houses up north are really a nice vacation. It seems like the entire northeast and north central part of the country have had an unusually cool summer. My brother's in Cleveland and he's had to use the A/C twice this summer. The usual heat waves just haven't happened. It's is a head scratcher when you get a locomotive with no documentation and try to figure it out. I's back together now and works fine except that, about every five minutes, the eninge sounds will stop at random points on the track for about two seconds and then start up again. The horn, bell, and all the other sounds still work, it's just the engine sound. The track is clean so I'm confused. Are you painting up your kits now? That's one of my favorite parts of model railroading.

BOC, sounds like a good day for you.

I'll second that advice, Rex. Any foot surgery is tricky and the tendency is to go back to weight bearing too soon. Your foot won't like it and will shortly let you know in no uncertain terms. :(

Mikey, without getting all sappy, I agree with you. I feel like I know a lot of the people here better than people I know in person. Heck, I actually do know some of y'all in person. :) This is one of the few groups I've been involved in where there are so few fights and, when we have one, they are usually entertaining. :D A nice bunch of people all around.

Sunny and back to Alabama summer with a temperature of 95 right now. There are some thunderstorms up by Birmingham but our dew point is too low for them to make it down here. Hurricane Fred has made it all the way to category three and no one cares. He's going to spend a couple of days spinning around the eastern Atlantic, churning up some wave and disturbing the fish, and then die of the hurricane swine flu that has tragically killed so many hurricanes in their youth this year. Good thing for us with Fred, since he's a pretty mean looking storm right now, but he's all dessed up with nowhere to go. :)

Problem with going to the ER is that if the problem ends up being minor I as a Medicaid patient get stuck with the charges for the ER visit. I don't know what they're like where you are but here they're over a $1,000 easy. There's no way I can pay that.

Well guys, today was super Quiet:( Not a very good sign, even the baseball league Prez drove by with out stoping in to say anything! My Yearly review wasn't in the mail box..... it's two weeks late, and the phone even didn't ring........that ain't good:( So I got my normal list of park chores done early and made me and Mario(My Boss) some will work for food signs out of card board and sharpie pens:rolleyes: My mood right now is, "Let's Get this damn thing over with so I can pick up the Broken pieces and move on with my life already!" The way they are going about the layoff is very unnerving and just down right torture.:(

Jim, I wish and Pray your right but just the fact that my E-val is more than two weeks late (which it's never late) and it's been very quiet around the park ain't a very good sign. At least your keeping hope alive:D

BOC, Ya, you'll see me on the corner, with my wife Pimping me out!

Corey, Well I hope my moves are fast and the S*** doesn't stick so I can continue on!

Any ways, If I do keep my job until the next set of layoff next year. I'm going to continue on Pushing the lawn service gaining more accounts so I can get the heck out of this crazy place i work for! I haven't slept good for 3 days..............:(

[edit] I picked a fine time to stop drinking![edit]

That's why I LOVE this place! God help our wives and the Bar/Dinner if we gather and have a "Big Get-Together!":D

We got some really bad thunderstorms today. The chance of rain was 40%. We got our 40% plus a couple hundred % belonging to somebody else. Now who's the smart alek who sent me THEIR rain!

Found out what the fever is all about. I have a sinus infection. Lovely. Just what I need right now. NOT!

Good Evening

Mikey That is what is so neat about the forum group here---you're all a great bunch!!:D

I'm back to getting some more trestle bents done as well as doing the railbed to the bridge site on the layout----The nails for the teeensie ties are something to behold---now if I can only get mine eyes unscrewed:eek::D:D

Jeff Don't be doing any running around on those feet ---consider yourself just told by Audrey!!;):)

Have fun----

Not me! I hijacked the rain BOC sent down to Jim. Wow, it was a frog choker! sorry jim!

Good morning.

It's 71 and partly cloudy. The high will be around the mid 80's and there's a chance of rain.

I don't know yet how much rain we got yesterday. It was coming down thick and heavy for over an hour. The bleeding from my foot has stopped finally. Tuesday it was bleeding pretty badly and I had to change the dressing several times. Yesterday it was nowhere near as bad and I had to change the dressing only once. This morning there's no sign of bleeding. The trick now is to make sure I don't rip the stitches out. No layout work to speak of yesterday.

Good morning folks

It was 61 F as I rolled onto the roadways. High will be 69 F with rain.

Yesterday was a crazy day. It started with a field meeting first thing in the morning. The meeting was at the construction office about 20 miles from the office which meant I had to drive there from home. It was called by the County Soil Conservation District. When we obtained our approval from them for the erosion control plan they insisted that we have a meeting before construction started otherwise the earth might stop spinning on its axis. The person who insisted on the meeting and who said that she had to be in attendance or else sent someone else in her place. The person she sent had turned in his two weeks notice the week before so he didn’t care about the project. The meeting consisted of him reading provisions from the specifications and giving out phone numbers to contact people in his office. The whole thing lasted 5 minutes. So I then had to spend another hour in traffic to get to the office and start all the fun all over again.

Last night we had a get together for the Cub scouts where they made thank you cards. As part of our council’s observance of September 11th we will be presenting those cards to officers from the SEPTA Transit Police Department.

Tonight it looks like I will be attending a Back to School night representing our Cub Scout Pack.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning--

A mix of sun/cloud for us today with the high at 23C. Tomorrow will be the same but with the ever popular 40% chance of showers and those t'underin'boomers.

A nice easy going day today--just great for trestle building:) Got a bit of work this afternoon and then it'll be some more building up tonight---:)

Some prototype downtowns anyone?
