Terry So you do the bargain hunting as well---gotta love it :D

I spent today not doing much of anything except my train stuff---heeheehee:D I now have another project to do and hopefully I'll be able to fill in some space with a couple or three decrepit barns with new attachments. I found a wack of N scale tractors of various types and implements to go with them---now they need a place to go---:D:D;)

BOC Love the farm shots! :)
I especially love the International Harvester in the picture. Complete with it's own toolbox!!!!!!!!:D It might be tough to model in N, but IMHO, no model of an IH product is complete without a toolbox nearby of some sort!!!:D:D:D
LOL!!!

Crazy English

1. The bandage was wound around the wound.

2. The farm was used to produce produce.

3. The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

4. We must polish the Polish furniture.

5. He could lead if he would get the lead out.

6. The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

7. Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.

8. A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

9. When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.

10. I did not object to the object.

11. I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.

12. The insurance was invalid for the invalid.

13. How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

14. There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.

15. They were too close to the door to close it.

16. The buck does funny things when the does are present.

17. A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.

18. To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.

19. The wind was too strong to wind the sail.

20. After a number of injections my jaw got number.

21. Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.

Let's face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm goes off by going on. English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race (which, of course, isn't a race at all). That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

Good evening

I didn't post much on here this weekend because I've been laboring over some models: I took a few 'vanilla' Athearn bluebox 62ft tank cars and removed the side running boards, replacing them with pipes and angle braces. Also eliminated the underbody frame (girder). I don't have any pix of the models [yet], but here is a photo of the prototype I'm trying to 'loosely' simulate.

Rex I'm glad you survived hoisting that repaired A/C unit. Congrats to the Tide on their victory over VA-Tech.

Jim looks like your Buckeyes got the victory, but they sure had to bust their @$$es to to get it!:D As a Navy vet [and Annapolis native] I'm still mighty proud of my team's performance even though they didn't win.

The guys that own the hobby shops around here have gotten to know me pretty well. When they see me walk in the door, the boxes of "stuff" come out. It can be almost anything from a Tyco C636 to an Athearn/Genesis SD45-2. Cars, structures, track, even the occasional bit of railroadania come out of the woodwork.
There was even an unbuilt Bowser Challenger that I passed on when I bought the other stuff yesterday.

Good morning.

It's 70 and foggy. The high will be in the low 90's and there's a chance of rain.

No layout work yesterday, maybe today. Got roped into looking up stuff on the net for my parents. I'd find what they were looking for then they'd decide that wasn't what they wanted and have me look for something else. After a few hours of their waffling back and forth over everything I told them to find it themselves. Man,I hate wafflers. Well it's 24 hours and counting down to the time I head off for the hospital for my foot surgery tomorrow. One of the nurses will be coming to my home to pick me up. After the procedure she'll bring me back home. That's good because I'm not going to be in any shape to drive.

I'll PM both of you the phone number of the LHS. If they can't ship it to you, I can pick it up this coming weekend and UPS it to you.

Terry............ YOU FOOL!:mad: That kinda Information can be sold at a hefty cost!;);) In these tring times Good information is the only bartering chip we have left to sell!:):):):D

Went to town today to browse around Wal-Mart for a bit. There weren't any Mart-Carts available so I didn't stay long. Can't walk around much without being in intense agony. I stopped at DQ on the way home and got a steak finger basket with onion rings. Looked over at where the new Sonic Drive-In is going up and was surprised to see crews working there today. Guess they decided it was worth losing the holiday to have the fair weather to get some work done.

BOC, More busted up red
farm equipment??

You guys must really be rough on stuff up there! I hope you all have some JDs to get the jobs done!! LOL :D

Karl That thing was in the same yard the former feedmill was on!! There were about 3 tractors there that apparently had no owners! I asked some people around there whether anyone still had the ownership and no one said there was any in recent memory. Maybe no one wanted to ADMIT that they knew!!

I'm guessing that the people who owned the land probs did-----as for the JD I saw maybe 5 tractors that were Green---4 were Olivers---
