(Trying to not get political, But my job and politics goes hand in hand:o)

The reason for me loosing my job is: The people responsible for the check book, they spend like a drunken sailor's and when it comes time to sign the pay check there's not enough money! I heard so many people going after and blaming the government low level workers......when they should look into the department directors and elected officals. It's easier to get a low grade employee fired than it is to remove a director! so a lot of people take their frustration out on the employee instead of the ones who are realy responsible for the spot we are in!

So true that. A lot of the time it is the regular employees that are left out high and dry when it comes to that. I remember a professor at the university used to say that the first responsibility a board or the director had was to his employees. Now it is to the bottom line---and even then:eek:

The weatherguessers have us as being a mix of sun/cloud today then clearing up tonight. High today willl be 23C and the low at 15C then tomorrow will be the mix of sun/cloud with a 60% chance of showers and those t'underinboomers. The high for tomorrow will be about 27C. Sunday will be cloudy with the 30% chance of showers and those t'underin'boomers. And the temperature will go up to 32C.

I've got a meeting this morning and a bit of left over paperwork then I'll be off for 4 weeks !!!! :D:D:D:D:D HEEHEEHEE!!:D:D:D

Have a good one people -----:):)

Good morning folks.

Jim, I'm sorry to hear of your friend. Things like that have a way of putting the rest of our troubles in perspective sometimes. I pray for his family and yours as well for healing.

My wife had an interview two days ago. A couple of optometrists are looking to hire somebody to run the business side of their practice so they can get back to being doctors. Both doctors just happen to be good customers of mine. I hope they don't hold knowing me against her!
They told her that they will make the decision within the month. The pay is going to be about the same as what I make. That's twenty thousand less a year than she use to make, but more than unenjoyment! We have our fingers and toes crossed that they'll hire her.

I ordered new wheels for my Athearn heavyweight passenger cars the other day. I noticed that they don't spin well and have trouble tracking on code 83 turnouts. I hope the new wheels will help.

Progress continues in a measured pace on the layout. I go nuts for a few days, then nothing for a few. It sems that I have to go to this place called work every day. It's really getting in the way of my social life and hobby time!:D

I hope you all have a good day.

At least, you are able to work on your layout sometimes!

I brushed the fourth coat of varnish on the newly installed natural oak hardwood floor in my living room/den. I'm at the end of my third week of carpet removal, install variable 9" to 30" lengths of oak strips, sanding the floor and varnish. The tongue and groove "seconds" flooring is full of blemishs, knotholes and worm holes that had to be filled with wood putty before sanding. The many variations of grain and imperfections affect the overall color of the natural wood for a beautiful appearance.
Now, all I have to do is recoat the old dark laminate wood border around both rooms, and move the furniture back where it belongs.

This has been a typical Mikey project. I can turn a 10 minute job into a 3 hour ordeal just about every time! And, work definitely gets in the way.

I know what you mean there. I bought $500 worth of Oak to make cabinets for both daughters utility rooms about 6 weeks ago and it is still out in the wood shop. In the mean time I put in a concrete sidewalk to out front porch and installed white railings on said porch. It looks great but the youngest daughter asked me today when her cabinet was going to be completed. She has already paid for her part of the materials amd insisted on paying me for my labor so I guess I better get started. Oh and I also started building a 24 X 32 deck for a good friend of mine last week. OOPS She just found out about the deck, boy I wish my wife would not tell teh girls everything I do. LOL LOL

Just got back from town. Went to see the foot doc this morning. The wounds on my feet are maintaining a status quot which neither he or I are happy about. I go back to see him again on the 31st. At the time we'll be filling out the paperwork for surgery on Sept 8th. It can't happen fast enough for me.

.......boy I wish my wife would not tell teh girls everything I do. LOL LOL

And there's your problem right there! You're goin' around telling the wife everything you do!

Believe it or not, Scotty on the old Star Trek show had something right when he'd always tell the captain that it couldn't be done, or that it would take longer then it would. He did that so the captain would think he was a miracle worker when he pulled the rabbit outta the hat and made it happen.

You need to hold back your aces a bit more. Use them only when you need to.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I have something I need to repent of!

Phil, as a man-human, part of the deal is to be the forever pessimist when the female-human suggests any project involving the man's labor. Part of that pessimism includes the timeline and actually physical labor involved. We have been OK'd by the Great One upstairs to do so. Do you actually think Joseph, a carpenter by trade, told Mary the straight skinny when she wanted him to fix the door, build a table, or make a bench? C'mon now. We all know what a great preacher Jesus was. Where do you think he got that talent? From watching his dad maneuver his mother into believing that he, Joseph, was going to perform a miracle in order to have the table ready for company coming next week. So, it's our duty as men to present ourselves and our tasks as "miracles waiting to materialize".

Even if the job isn't all that difficult, it is our duty, duty I say, to make those tasks APPEAR to be much more difficult. complicated, and laborious than they really are. That's what the women get for taking our rib!!!

Besides, your daughter's cabinet is still in the "planning" stages, right? That's what I call my procrastinations, "planning stages". lol.

Saying a project will take three or four times longer than it actually does makes the project a miracle when it done ahead of the projected time? No, that's not a miracle. Looking at a model kit that needs to be painted and put together with shaky hands and getting it done and looking good within a week? Now that's a miracle.

We had a "Simple" Dam reconstruction project end up going 4+ years and counting---for a Dam that is approx. 80' long and 25' high with 4 gates. The gates are all malfunctioning/broke and 3 3/4" bolts sheared and ----:(

I'm now on vacation--heeheehee:eek::eek::D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I'm going through my photos on the card and deleting a lot of them so's I can stretch out it's capacity somewhat. I'm never actually too sure about the dang thing because between Audrey and i we do a fair bit of photo work and with me going with Martin down the road to St. Thomas I like to have some shots available!! LOL!!:D:D:D:D

Jeffrey, I have an OMI Niagara project that's been going on for three years. Probably be another three before I get it done. It's been in primer for the last year. Still laying, torn apart, in boxes. It's seen all of 20 seconds of track time. lol

I think I'm going to print this out and give a copy to each of my boys. I've been cornered by them from time to time about how to handle the female-human, but have never been able to properly verbalize this aspect of the she-psyche.
Maybe in print they can understand what I have always known deep inside, but was never able to illustrate for them.

Just beautiful! :D

I also like Bill Cosby's method too, "If you screw enough things up she won't bother to ask you any more." ;):) Asfer learning my son I got him the Bill Cosbys stand up DVD "Bill Cosby, Himself!" Best Family man traing tape out there:D

Since you appear to be such a man-sage,please allow me to ask a question regarding the she-humans that has always puzzled me.
Why is a bra singular, yet the other she-dressing is referred to as a pair of panties??:D:confused::rolleyes:

Sandy, before you start thinking that this thread is starting to get a little too masculine, let me share a joke my sister sent me yesterday.

Pants and Panties

Mike was going to be married to Karen
so his Father sat him down for a little chat.

He said, 'Mike, let me tell you something.
On my wedding night in our honeymoon suite, I took off my pants, handed them to your Mother, and said, 'Here, try these on.''

She did and said, 'These are too big.
I can't wear them.'

I replied, 'Exactly.. I wear the pants in
this family and I always will.'

Ever since that night, we have
never had any problems.

'Hmmm,' said Mike.. He thought that might be a good thing to try.

On his honeymoon, Mike took off his pants and said to Karen, 'Here, try these on..'

She tried them on and said, 'These are too large. They don't fit me.'

Mike said, 'Exactly. I wear the pants in this family
and I always will. I don't want you to ever forget that.'

Then Karen took off her panties and handed them to Mike. She said, 'Here, you try on mine..'

Mike did and said,
'I can't get into your panties.'

Karen said, 'Exactly. And if you don't change
your smart-*$$ attitude, you never will..':D

Remember, this was a joke, and only a joke. Real men have nothing to fear.

Good morning.

It's 74 and sunny. The high will be around 93 and there's a chance of rain.

My foot surgery is tentatively for a month from today. Hopefully this will eliminate some of the problems I'm having. On the MR front I'm slowly building up some new buildings to replace some of the older toylike looking buildings that are on the layout at present. I hope to get started on the new backdrop sometime this month. My order of scenery backdrop aids shipped from Walther's yesterday and is on it's way via priority mail.

Karl, I once knew a man who had been married to the same woman for 72 years. By any standard, that's a long time.

I asked Claude, "What is your secret for staying married so long?"

"Well, Bobby," he said, "we made an agreement on our wedding night. I was to make all of the major decisions, and my betrothed would handle all of the day to day issues."

His wife, Estelle, who was sitting next to me, chimed in, "Thank goodness there were no major decisions to be made."

Not a joke.....a true story.

Bob

I told Glendia before we got married that I would never hit her in anger but if she threw something at me I would throw something at her that would probably be heavier and a heck of a lot harder at her. She has never thrown anything although she more than likely would have liked to and I have never hit her in anger and have never had the urge to.

Went to Wal-Mart today and got 30 movies for $15. Now, before you go tearing their doors down, it's 3 DVD packages. War Movies WWII Collection with 20 movies - $5, World War II collectors set about the rise and fall of Nazi Germany with 6 movies - $5, Sci-Fi Collectors Set with 4 movies - $5. Also got a new Shop Blower fan. My old one is making strange bearing type noises after running for 8+ years straight.

well got my three yards done, although I need to start saving money to replace my push mower for next season:rolleyes: I'm thinking of replacing it with a small rider! Why walk when I can Ride!:)

I agree! My lil JD R72 only has a 30 inch cut, turns on a dime and goes anywhere a push mower will go! Gotta love it! I have a push mower, I only use it for mulching leaves!
