Karl...the testosterone WAS a bit thick in here :) Nah...I don't mind at all.

You know, I initially came into this site trying to garner some knowledge for my foray into sales. I had just started sales with a Model Railroad magazine and thought I could snag some helpful information in a forum like this.

Well...my boss, the publisher of the journal decided to sell that publication and so I am working sales in another area....HOWEVER...I flippin' enjoy this forum!

I tell folks about it and they think I'm nuts. I know so little about trains and the like, but I just love the non-snarkiness in here and the genuine camaraderie that seems to be the method of communication.

I find myself logging on to see whose home is the next "party house" ;) , how Rex and his Tuscaloosa knees are doing, along with Jeffrey and his DVD collection and fire calls and to see how Phillip's son is and to see if Bob is catching any fish and to see if Tom is ever going to take a much needed nap...and to see what the heck Chris is getting into today and to get some words of wisdom from Karl, and to hear Jim's lawn updates as well as his cop tales. And there are even more stories...

I just enjoy it in here. Don't make it in every day, but I usually find myself smiling when I do get a chance to 'catch up'. So, even though I don't really ...belong, I have fun.

Have a terrific Sunday! Thanks, guys! :D

Sandy

Hello--

I'm going to see whether any of these will post. Yes it did. We went on a little mill hunt today---before it went into dump mode for the rest of the day-----sheeesh.

I agree! My lil JD R72 only has a 30 inch cut, turns on a dime and goes anywhere a push mower will go! Gotta love it! I have a push mower, I only use it for mulching leaves!

I don't think JD makes the R72 any more:( Closest mower to it I could find was a Craftman mid engine and a Poulan xt 30" tractor. Both very basic mower good enough to handle what little I'll be throwing at it. I got to Stay under $1000.00 and Max width 30"(Gate buster):o I got to restrain from buying trains so I can save up some money!

Good morning.

It's 74 and partly cloudy. The high today will be around the mid 90's and there's a chance of rain.

I took the time yesterday to glue together the walls of the Seymour Block. While I was at it I decided to add to the red and green decor. I added a little yellow and some terra cotta and just a splash of brown. I still have to add the entry door and the roof. I also pre-painted the 'Skip's Chicken & Ribs' and the 'Robert's Dry Goods' kits. The ribs joint is painted yellow with green trim and the dry goods kit is red with terra cotta. I also worked on the Walther's REA Reefer. The base color on it must be green as I couldn't get it stripped back to any other color. I did get the lettering and graphics off it though and I cut the ladders down to modern height with the exception of the one up to the brake wheel. I also removed the roofwalk. The next project will be to remove the plug doors and replace them with regular sliding doors. I might get to mow my sister's yard today depending on the weather. If it rains all bets are off.

Good Morning

Got a nice muggy 30C day looking at us--the eatherguessers have a humidex advisory in effect for us---and with winds up to 50kmh it'll cut the edge off the humidity for us. We also have the proverbial chance of those t'underin'boomers for today and tonight--tonights low will be a muggy 24C and tomorrow-will be at 28C---and rainy

I'm doing a small scale HD thing today then I'm going to see whether there is enough stir sticks in here to scratchbuild another train shed for my layout.

Chris My yard is so small the push mower is all I need:):)

Some time back the news station did a piece on this guy who loved John Deere tractors so much he just had to have one.......well be bought the biggest Lawn tractor he's wife would let him have. If I can recall it was something in the neigborhood like this beast; http://www.deere.com/en_US/ProductC....ProdCatProduct?pNbr=SKU22282&tM=HO&link=enav The kicker was his lawn only had 4000sqft of grass! He joked and said it only takes hime 8 minutes to mow the lawn and a hour to wash the mower!LOL's

What's the blood sugar readin', Jeffrey? Mine was high all day yesterday. And for no reason, that I can think of. I've been staying away from the "cookie jar".

Bob

Blood sugar reading and blood pressure are just fine. I'm guessing it's the aftereffects of working on a Walther's REA reefer yesterday. I was using non-acetone nail polish remover to strip the decals on it.

Well the wife and I went to the Indiana State Fair today. A really good time was had by the both of us. We did a little of what she wanted and a lot of what I wanted. They had these Chinese Acrobats/Gymnast's that were fantastic. My neck and back are still hurting to beat the devil just from watching them. Had their heels over their shoulders from the backside, the back of their heads on their backs looking right at us with smiles on their faces. If I even came near to thinking about trying some those stunts I would end up in the horsepital immediately if not sooner. We had the proverbial Polish sausage with onion and peppers, corn dogs but no elephant ears or funnel cakes. Did try the Dippin Dots Ice cream, chocolate shake and Hoosier Rib Eye sandwich. After six hours of walking both of us were ready to call it a day so we did and here I is.

Good morning.

It's 76, mostly clear and on the wet side. The high will be in the mid 90's and there's a chance of rain.

Seems I got my sister's yard mowed in time yesterday as we had a couple of short showers later. It's been raining on and off during the night and there's a little more due today. I finished the DPM Seymour Block kit yesterday and will probably get started on the Skip's Chicken and Ribs kit today. It's already painted so only requires being put together and touched up. Not sure what else I'll be doing today as many of my usual activities take place outside.

Good morning folks

It was 74 F on the highways this morning. Today will be a nasty one with an Excessive Heat warning. Our high will be 95 F with humidity close to 100%. The Heat Index will be over 100 F.

I have not been here for a few days. We took a little staycation starting Thursday. On Thursday we took the kids out to Manheim, PA so they could play laser tag. They had a great time and it was fun watching them. Afterwards we took them to CiCi’s Pizza for dinner. Since I Finally got paid on Friday we did a bunch of running around catching up on things that we had put off during the no-pay period.

Saturday we spent the day at Fort Delaware in Delaware City, DE. It was their POW weekend so that had reenactors there acting as Confederate prisoners and Union guards. It was fun and interesting. We got to see them fire one of the 8 inch Columbiad guns. With a one pound charge it was ear popping; I can’t image how loud it would have been with a full 12 pound charge. It is kind of amazing to think that gun with a full charge could hurl a 62 lb solid shot 2.7 miles. Sunday we did the grocery shopping and prepared for the hot weather today.

I didn’t get any train time in. I thought I was going to make it to the LHS but traffic and time conspired against me. My son on the other hand is preparing a list of track we need to outfit the Power Plant yard.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning folks.

I had a very productive day yesterday. As I'm finishing up building my freight house I'm starting to build more of the mill. I've chosen a DPM modular kit to use for the old brick portion of the mill. What's nice is since I'm not going to see the back two sides, I'll have plenty left over to build another backdrop building elsewhere. Boy oh boy is this kit a lot of cutting, trimming, sanding, and gluing! Oh well, it should look quite nice when it's finished. I'm having to fudge the proportions of the mill to suit my space, kit availability, and willingness to kit bash. In the end, it will be a somewhat reasonable representation of the mill. I guess that's all I can ask for.

My Athearn passenger cars have found a trouble spot in my track. I've had problems with them tracking over a certain section of the layout. They tend to wander down the wrong side of a Peco turnout. Could I possibly have to shim the rails near the frog? I thought I heard something about that with Peco turnouts. Anyone have any ideas?

I guess that's it for today. I'm off for work in a little bit. This weekend we are spending four days at my mothers lake house up north. I can't wait! It's suppose to rain but I don't think that will effect the taste of the beer!:D

I hope you all have a grand day!

Well, looks like Tom is getting the weather we had yesterday! Heat index was over 100 here, along with some lovely high humidity, making it just SO pleasent outside! I was out in the garage yesterday working on a project, nothing much really, just swapping out my solo seat for my 2up on my bike and putting the trunk on, and anyways, I'm standing there with a big box fan on me in just my pants, and I'm sweating profusely! I was dying! I stepped inside for something and the A/C hit me, and my body liked to have gone into shock or something! Needless to say, I didn't realize how hot it was until then, so I wrapped up my project and headed in. I did go out againd later in the evening, but it had cooled off some, so I got on the bike and hit the road. Picked a nice country road that you can ride for many, many miles with nary a stop sign in sight! I invited my wife to go with, but she passed. I invited my son, but he too passed. So, I just went myself as my daughter wasn't home. I don't think she'd go anyways. She doesn't care for the bike much.
