Install the column, replace the headlights, put in a toggle switch and relay for the running lights, connect the main fuel line and fuel return line. That'll have it drivable. There won't be any heat or AC but I'm used to that.

With this weather, im sure the heat is the last of your concerns :D

Well, this scene:

is no more. There's a brick engine house there now. I'm sure I can find some short piece of rusty track somewhere that the old loco can sit on in a new location. There have been a lot of changes to the layout but some things are still the same. There's still a lot of work to do.

Jeff- What do you have planned for the old track? Or a better question might be, are you removing any 22in curves?
The old track is being reclaimed. I have it soaking in a bucket of water to loosen the glue that's holding the ballast. All the curves are 18" radius. I don't have the space for anything bigger.

Morning everyone, or I guess, good morning Matt and Jeffrey. Is somebody locking this place when I leave? Holy cow, I've never seen the coffee shop this slow.

I had a nice comment the other day when visitors came over. My Mother's boyfriend and others were looking at the layout when he said, "oh my gosh, you're modeling Mankato". It was nice that he figured it out by a few key buildings that I tried a I little harder to copy. I was hoping for that effect without having build every building exactly as it was.

I'm in a tree making marathon right now. I woke up this morning pretty early with not a whole lot to do. My wife suggested making trees. I don't know if she just likes seeing the progress or if she knows that it keeps me calm. A little trains each day keeps the doctor away!

I hope everyone is safe and healthy. I know it's the last few weeks of summer so people are finishing up vacations and such. Stop in and say hello!

Good morning. It's 79 and partly cloudy. The high will be 92. There's a 60% chance of thunderstorms today.

Work on the layout progresses slowly. This morning I have to go into town to get a money order to pay the C.O.D. due on the steering column when it's delivered. Other than that the day will be taken up by layout work. I have the track laid down and it now has to be leveled and anchored in place.

Matt....got your mail the other day. Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. Things are a little crazy around here. LOL! Do you have a pic of the items by any chance? And what is the brand of the GP38?

Terry...Got your mail too..LOL! And no..nothing else. :confused::D

And HELLO to everybody else. Sorry I've been absent for a bit. Have been busy with the family, and also working on the layout. After not having run trains in 12 years, my spare time has been doing just that. Plus the normal everyday stuff. FLO: drinks for everyone on me! :D

Dana- I hope i didnt seem like i was contacting you solely to try and make a sale, i was going through the old thread to reread it, noticed you were interested, figured id offer it to you and then remembered you hadnt been around in awhile, so i shot you an email. I can get pictures for you no problem, they are in this thread http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19039 . I believe the locomotive is life-like.

Corey- I cant believe how dead it is in here either, nice weather must keep people away. Ive been posting after practice, sitting in the chair with my laptop is about all i want to do after 3 1/2 hours out in the sun. Nice complement on the layout.

Jeff- Thats the same problem im having, no room :( its the HW&C RY right now, the Hardwoods and Carpet Railway for me

Chris- I found out why you havent posted in a bit, your on Swords: Life on the line on Discover Channel, im watching it and noticed one of the Capts name is Chris Hanson. Go figure :D

I can identify with that. When I was in the army mine was the WLT Railway. WLT=Waxed Linoleum Tile. Back then a lot of what I had was Tyco as that was all that was available at the PX. A couple of years later I was turned onto Athearn's by a friend and never looked back. It was only after opening up an Athearn loco that I realized one of my first HO locos back in 66-67 was an Athearn (can't remember what model but it was for the Milwaukee Road). Another loco I got in 74 was a Cox GP9. That also turned out to be an Athearn. Here's a photo from the Cox site of the GP9 model I had. The detail was good for it's day though it would be somewhat campy and toy-like today.

after a day of feeling nothing but down about myself I ventured into Boston for some Fish n' Chips at an Irish Pub (The Purple Shamrock) and some ice-cream. Is there anything that fried food and ice-cream can't fix?

Boy, I really need to introduce you to deep fried burritos stuffed with Mexican green chili peppers. Guaranteed to please and clear the sinuses. I like mine smothered in six-alarm chili. Gotta eat it before it burns the plate!

:eek:I'm baaaaaack!!!:D:D:D

Hey, didja all miss me??

Been bizzy bizzy bizzy!!!!! 2 weeks ago today we settled on our new palatial ranch estate, and finally, Comcast got us hooked up. Yes, it's a temporary cable, they will bury a real cable in 10 days, but at least we have internet and TV again!
Almost everything has been moved (thanks again Ken) cept the big tractors. They will stay at the farm until I can clear out space here in the shed and the garage. Tooo many boxes yet to unpack!!! I'm guessing another 2 weeks before they are here, life returns to normal and I can start modeling again!
I've been looking in from time to time, just too little time to post (at work).

Rex, please accept belated condolences on your loss. We've been thinking about ya!
Jeffrey No heat or AC in the van? You're more man than I am! We've only got daytime highs in the low 80's right now, and I'm still taking the truck in to get the A/C fixed tomorrow!
Matt Careful on those sports injuries. I've got a reminder of one constantly, a permanently bent ring finger on my right hand, from catching a line drive barehanded. Pretty much stopped my pitching career dead in its tracks. If I knew then what I knew now, it would have been the second basemens ball to field.
ChrisYou, a Boat skipper???? Somehow Gilligan comes to mind!;)

To the rest of ya, have a drink and a slice of pie on me.

It's good to be home!:D

The SD-24's are coming!!!! Yippeeeee!!!!!

Atlas started shipping to dealers on the 18th of this month!

With QSI sound!

Finally, I only ordered my 3 last October!!

Good morning. It's 76 and somewhat cloudy. The high will be 98 with a heat index of 110 and there's a 30% chance of thunderstorms. Scattered showers are expected.

Well if UPS is on the ball the steering column for my van should come in today. Total cost will be $120 ($75 for the part + shipping). After it's installed there's only a few more little things to do to get it ready for the road. On the layout front, I did a lot of work on the extension and got most of the clutter from the rebuild out of the way. Today I'll be doing the same on the main part of the layout. I still have some areas to smooth out so the track will lay flat. That should go fairly quickly as the plaster there isn't as thick as it is on the extension.
