Chris- I wouldnt give her the 2 years, but its your sons choice. Id give it to the end of summer, and then make a choice. If losing her child and getting into debt doesnt change her point of view, i really dont know what else will. I say the end of summer so that it keeps him into his school, and its less time that he has to deal with this. Im sure he will adapt, but he shouldnt have to. Why bother bringing the kid into a whole new school just before high school, you know the supposed best/quickest years of your child hood life? If hes 13, hes going into 8th grade right? Why take a kid away from his friends with only 5 more years of school left? In my opinion, kids shouldnt be forced to leave their friends until college. I know there are instances that it is required to move, but this one i just dont see.

Didnt make it up to Lowes today, i tidied up around the backyard and did very little school work . I plan to sit in the house all day tommorow, at least until work, and get a good dent in it before football camp. Ill probably be up until around midnight anyways, i can do some work then too.

Have a good evening guys!

Rex: I have a vunderful ideeee. Let us work together and develop a device that when one of those loud obnoxious SOB's pull up around us all we have to do is punch a button and their speakers explode and catch fire thus eliminating the noisy Bas$%@#'s stereo system. We could be millionaires in a week or at least in the first month of operations.

Oh me achin back! Spent the weekend cutting grass, spackling drywall, fixing a leaking ice maker, and in general, slaving. Oh the joys of a new house!
But
Now I have an air conditioned, carpeted basement all to myself. All SWMBO has asked is a clear shot from the bottom of the steps to the laundry room!
Nottaproblem!

Ken
. We're all meeting at the current house around 8 a.m. Loading up then caravaning over. Looks good on the help front, looks like all 5 of the sons will be here, along with an equal number of adults! (folks over 25) One other goodie we found out, the new house is close enought to New York J&P that they deliver!!! If ya need a refresher on directions, just pm or call me.
Good luck with the future SIL.....sounds like its all starting well.

Larry/Rex
. Its those 2000 watt stereos that make a rocket launcher hidden behind the headlamps such an appealing idea!!
Chris Keep steady, we're all pulling for ya. Keep this in mind. If you do everything for your son's benefit (screw what she wants) and build a track record of such, (make notes if you have to) you will have a powerful "weapon" to use when the crap really flies!
finally
to the Bama gang
Sorry to hear about the heat there, cuz it was 75 and breezy here today. In fact, we've had our windows open since Saturday morning, no need for A/C (cheaper electric bill!:p)
Just God's little way of repaying us for digging outta 2 feet of snow while you were lounging around in short sleeves!:D:D

Morning Gang,

Well off to mow more grass for me!:) 13 lawns:eek: other than that standard work week.

"As Chris' World Turns"

I got word from my son that she plans to give him $100 a month blood money every month! The funny thing is I know what she makes and what her out going is.........There is no way she can spare the cash! Another lie:mad: She is really reaching huh?

I have a real good stereo system in my HHR--I always get besides their little wannabe stereo and blast out HAWKWIND at them--usually they leave without their stereo blasting away then:rolleyes::rolleyes::p

Good Morning

Audrey got up all piculous this morning and discovered that her leg was not hurting so much---that is a good sign---:)

We talked to our lawyer who feels that she should get something out of that mishap-in point of fact just this morning he got a hold of the guys insurance firm---:p

Anyhoooo---Chris-- a friend of mine went through a nasty divorce wherein the guys wife actually went and gave their kids--who are allergic to gluten products---regular bread---just so that he got to spend half his weekends with his kids in hospital. It took 3 long years to get a judge who saw through her smoke and mirrors to award the custody to him. When she saw the handtruck loaded with boxes of affidavids and testimony from all sorts of doctors and family court officials about what she was doing-----:eek: She no longer has visitation rights either:eek: I just hope it comes out right for you----we are praying here--

Good morning. It's 78 and sunny. The high today will be 103 in the shade, it will be partly cloudy and the word for today is HOT. I'll be in areas cooled by AC as much as possible.

I'll be in Alexandria most of the day today. I have to take my mother there for a doctors appointment this morning and we likely won't be back until after 5 pm. The LHS is closed today so I think I'll go by Hobby Lobby and see if they have any train stuff left. Thankfully the AC in my mother's car works so that won't be a problem. On a day like today driving mine would be like driving a sauna. The AC hasn't worked in 8 years and with a busted metal pipe in the high pressure line it's not likely that it ever will again.

Good afternoon everyone.

Sounds like things are situation normal around here.

I'm back from a wonderful weekend in Iowa. We went down for the Nascar Nation wide series race. Since my Aunt works for 3M, she got us really good tickets to the race and the hospitality area. Thank God there was free water at the tent. It was in the upper eighties with a nasty dew point to boot. It was so hot that I didn't feel like drinking beer! Not to fear, I did manage to suck down a few five dollar Coors by nights end.

On our trip home we saw signs for Trainland USA. It's a guys house built specifically to contain a lifetime of Lionel three rail set up to take you through the US. They charged five dollars admission and gave you a "Where's Waldo" search to keep you interested. I'll tell you what, my Wife had a blast pressing the buttons for the Lionel accessories and looking for things on the list. We managed to take an hour to tour the entire layout. I think it's funny how much fun my wife had. She told me that I had to mention that fact on this website.

They also had an old passenger car sitting outside of their house. Inside that car was a train shop with all the used O, S, and HO scale equipment you could ever need. Most of it was over priced in my mind. Gina told me to buy something from the old man because he was so nice. I looked around and found an Athearn BB, CNW boxcar for eight dollars. Bingo, there was my token purchase. The stop at this place was well worth the hour of time and eighteen dollars. I left with a happy wife and a piece of rolling stock. What a great weekend indeed.

After a great weekend all I could think of was the line from Field of Dreams. "Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa!"

Have a great week everyone.

Karl, I'm heading up your direction, so save me a corner in the basement. I ain't staying in this heat no longer. Today it is 102+ with heat index at 112, yup 112!

C'mon up Rex. Its a fair 78 today, a wee bit overcast, but very tolorable!:D

oh, BTW, the cat loves to sleep with strangers!!!!

Made it back from Alexandria in one piece and I didn't come back empty handed. My mother sprang for lunch and a 50' UP boxcar. She was more than happy to do it too as I was blowing a whole day on her account. I also picked up two Model Power Exxon signs and a three pack of Testors paint brushes.

I can top that! At practice tonght it was a blistering 77, overcast with the occasional sprinkles to cool you down more. We might have short summers up here in the great north, but dang they are nice.

Football season is upon us! Gentleman, the gods have once again graced us with the best season of the year. I love this game :D. Tonight after shelling out $70 for camp, i got my shirt, shorts and practice jersey. Then i got my upper pads and after struggling for 10 minutes to find a helmet, i was ready to go. Tommorow i get my lowers and its freakin time to knock some heads. Ive already picked some people that i want to hit, 3 of them freshman who just dont try, and a sophmore who its time to put in his place. Ill post some pictures tommorow. It looks like ill be 2nd string offense this year, probably starting defense though. We have 4 strings, im ok with 2nd. Ill be on kickoff/punt returns as well. Fellas be proud of me, ive got a feeling this season will be huge.

Jeff- I never thanked you earlier for that link, thanks bud. Sounds like a pretty good day overall, spending some time with mom and getting some train time in too.

Go Matt GO!:D If we all could be in the stands we would!:) Have a great season!

Good morning. Supposed to be another scorcher today with a high of 103 with a heat index of 112. The temp now is a comparatively cool 79. It's partly cloudy.

Not much going on today. I'm still recovering from yesterday. I really dislike long drives. My ankle hurts, my knees hurt and my back hurts. Not sure of what I'll be doing today but I can safely say that most of the day will be spent doing a lot of nothing.

Morning gents.

Chris- Can ya tell i love this game? :D

Jeff- You and me both, nothing on the agenda here either, just a whole lot of nothin.

Not doing much today. Ive got to finish up alittle bit of summer work, then probably searching for an AC4400 or Dash-9. Ill probably take pictures of and make a thread later selling some N scale stuff. Its just not HO scale to me, i started with HO, its just not the same in N.

Went to town to get some grocery shopping done. The car was like a sauna. Too bad I couldn't dress accordingly but the cops seem to lack a sense of humor about that sort of thing. I did find out one thing. The relay for the radiator fan is smoked. I jumped the wires on the relay and the fan started up so thankfully it wasn't the problem. I had to replace that several years ago. Only a paltry $160 for the motor! I'll have to get a new relay tomorrow while it's still cool.

Got the radiator fan problem taken care of. A neighbor picked the relay switch up for me while he was in town. I changed the relay out but that made no difference. The fan still wouldn't work. I looked at the wires going to the relay and ID'd the supply and load for the fan, the two large wires. That left the two smaller wires that work the relay contacts. I isolated the trip wire and cut it, stripped the end, added on a length of 14 gauge to reach the fuse block in the dash, wired in a switch, crimped a spade connector onto the end of the wire and plugged it into an available 30 amp port in the fuse block. I flipped the switch, the relay clicked and the fan came on. Flipped the switch back down and the fan stopped. That's good enough for me. Now I can turn the fan on and off as I need to instead of hoping that I can keep moving fast enough to cool the radiator. That's not a problem on the highway but in traffic a non-op fan can be BIG trouble.

Stupid idea to work on the car during the heat of the day when it's around 105. Now I'm overheated and seriously need to cool off. Me and a gallon jug of cool water have an intense friendship going right now.

Chris- Much, much, much to industrial for me. Trees, rivers and bridges are my thing, but thanks for showing me that. When the switcher came out of the plant and almost hit the caboose i had an "awh shit" moment.

Got my lowers yesterday, means full pads tommorow. We did some tackling, mostly drills and positions specifics. I was doing great, every tackle perfect, hitting low, catching right on to the stuff we'd just been showed for the first time, i was feeling great. Coach asked me to help demo some offense stuff for varsity. First freaking snap of the ball i bobble it and drop the ball. All that and i killed it in one play, a senior came and took my spot immediately. It was for the best though, didnt deserve to be there anyways after that. Maybe it sounds like im beating myself up over one dropped pass, but it killed my mojo and made everything else that had happened that night seem not worth it. Id bet money that tommorow we do offensive pass drills, with the TEs going with the recievers instead of O-line. I can catch a pass one handed over my shoulder, but i catch it in the chest half the time on a simple post route. But at least theres always a good thing in the bad. Full pads means i can do alot of hitting, and thats where i shine.

Have a good one gents.

Evening, everyone.

Whew, as the other Southerners have been saying, it's dang hot! The high today was "only" 103 with a high heat index of 113. That's compared to yesterday, with a high of 106 and a high heat index of 122. You really can't stay outside for more than a half hour without getting in some air conditioning. I have to wear gloves to open the RV door because I literally get second degree burns from touching it. On top of that, we haven't had any rain since July 14, so everything (except the Kudzu) is dying. We are well on our way of breaking the record of 18 days in a row, since today is day 15 and there's no relief in sight.

Terry, the Trek in your link is the one I have. It's been a good RV, and this is the first problem I've had with the bed. I managed to get seatbacks free of the bed, but nothing doing in terms of it goingf up. I pu the bed stops in a few notches below the bed, and it does move down, but not up. I need to tear off all the carpeting and then get the aluminum channel off to inspect the motor. I'm hoping a wire pulled loose, but I don't think I'll be that lucky. It's not hard work, but tedious, especially when you have sweat pouring off you and blocking your view. :)

Jeffrey, I have no idea how you can drive around in a car without air conditioning. I'd be dead in minutes. It's bad enough just waiting for the A/C to finally cool down the car enough to bear. I suspect your your malaise and tiredness really is from a good case of heat exhaustion, so stay in the house tomorrow. Repeated bouts of heat exhaustion cause cumulative injury, and that's the last thing you need with your poor circulation. Gald you got the fan fixed though. I have two auxillary fans mounted in front of the A/C coils in the Trek that I can turn on manually, and it made the difference between being able to operate the A/C in stop and go traffic or overheating if I left it on.

Matt, I always loved getting back in football practice too. Of course, it's alot easier when you get cool temperatures and some showers. Those August wind sprints when it was in the high 90's in Cleveland weren't fun at all. :( Be careful about hitting anf use your padding wisely. I didn't and have a rotator cuff injury that has now developed into arthritis in my left shoulder. I could probably pass a ball 10 yards now. I know you want to go all out for the team, but you have a long life ahead of you, and no one from the team will be around to help you later in life, when the injuries really start to tell.

Rex, can you imagine when people lived in this heat all the time with no A/C? They must have been way tougher than me. I think I'll join you at Karl's...or maybe Ken's place. BTW, the stuff I had didn't need any laxative to solve. Glad to hear your problem came out alright in the end. ;)

Barry, sounds like that must have been a scary and painful moment for Audrey. Not only should that joker do a little time, it should cost his insurance company some money. I'm glad to hear her injuries were not more serious. I only came close to being hit one time. I had just done a traffic stop, opened the patrol car door, and had it torn completely off by a passing drunk. I was really pissed, and took off after him...with no door on the car. I wish I would have had that one on tape. :D I got him stopped about five miles up the road, and really had to control my temper getting him out of the car and cuffing him. My immediate urge was to beat the snot out of him.

Chris, do you have a lawyer? If not, please get one ASAP. Every time you attempt to make contact with your wife, you can be sure that will bought up as you harassing her. You need to file for divorce and get her in court, where the child custody issue can be laid to rest. Since your son is 13, the judge will give more weight to what he wants than what either of you want. Unfortunately, it sounds like court is the only way to resolve the marriage, so doing so sooner rather than later will save you a lot of heartache.

Karl, it sounds like you're having a real ball planning that railroad empire for your new house. Nothing like a blank slate to get the juices going. I really do hate moving, though, so I sympathize with your aches and pains.

Corey, I think I stopped at that place on one of my cross-coutry jaunts. As I remember, he was kind of strange old guy with a yappy dog. It was a pretty neat tinplate layout. I think he had every operating accessory ever made by Lionel.

As far as those booming car stereos, there's a firm working on an electromagnetic pulse generator with a focused beam and can be mounted on the front of a patrol car. If it works as expected, it will fry anything electronic in the car you're chasing, including the ignition and computers, which means the end of the pursuit real quick. I often fantasized about having one of those when I'm behind one of those thug cars with the 26" rims and foul language rap music booming out of all four windows down. Just one little push of the button is all it would take to end that problem. :p

Hope I didn't miss anyone. If I did, I hope you're doing as well as can be expected. I've been helping my future SIL move into his new rental home, and I'm bushed. It's still 87 degrees here at 10:35 pm. Time to take the garbage to the road and then do nothing but stand under a cold shower for about an hour.
