Looks like a dreary wet day here in the Sportsman's Paradise. Today I plan to clean up the layout a bit. I say a bit because if I think about cleaning up the whole thing it seems a daunting task. Now I wonder how well my plan will stand up to interruptions. I'm also waiting on a package to arrive from north of the US/CAN border. I have no idea what's in it so I just can't wait to get my hands on it.

Aha, I didn't know you had a switching layout. See, our layouts are polar opposites. Mine is a continuous run single main line with three short dead-end spurs and a through siding. I have a three loco consist sitting on the through siding and another three loco consist sitting on the longest of the spurs. The other two spurs can hold about five cars each.

My layout is sort of a U shaped Island, with access from all sides. Truthfully, I would have preferred an around the walls continuous run plan, such as the HOG layout, but the way the basement was designed, I gave up on building against the walls. Funny how a water shut off valve only leaks when there is a layout directly underneath, eh?

Anyway, I have what I have, and enjoy running drill jobs in tight urban spaces, which is why I was "surprised" at the car count.

Jeffery-
I just wanted to tell you how well your photography has improved over the last few months. You have a good variety of subjects and camera angles. Keep up the good work.

I realize this is a difficult and stressful time for you and your family. Try not to push yourself beyond your energies. We care.

Thanks. The photos I've been showing lately range from recent to years ago.

Looks like we've got storms coming across east Texas and it's already windy here. In fact it's been windy most of the day. It's been running from 10 to about 35 mph. The local weather guesser says 90 to 100% chance of rain then likely fair weather through to Monday night. We'll see. Since when can the weather man predict the weather much less the future.

I have a new project in mind. I've been tossing around an idea to put an SW1200 cab on a large geep, say something like a GP40 and do a few other things to it.

Expecting relatives to arrive from out of state tomorrow for the memorial Friday.

Well, time to call it a night and hope for the best with the weather. See y'all tomorrow.

Was in the mid 50s here today in Jersey, Overcast but nice. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer and wetter. Then it gets cold again.

Finished off three more kits today, a Walthers "White Box" Airslide, a Walthers White Box tank car, and an Accurail gondola. Having fun.

Devils lost in a shootout in Boston tonight, aw crap!

Time for bed.

Now if that was a box car or gondola you'd be painting rust on and saying "that looks MUCH better" :p

This is my first attempt at a video (Windows movie maker). No editing to speak of and seems to be jerkier than it first appeared on my computer. Recorded on a Sony DSC-S700 point and shoot.

The first train is headed up by Proto2000 PA-B-B(non sound) / Walthers cars (an eclectic mix of postwar and City coaches and 2 CNW pool baggage cars. The 2nd train(where you see the "Beware of Trains" sign) is my version of the Heritage fleet headed by BLI Paragon sound AC6000 and a Walthers 7 dome car consist. Click on the picture to play.

Came out pretty smooth here...good work!!

Toot, good job on your video! I watched the entire show. Great looking long passenger trains. Looks nice on the long runs at your club!

We have a wind warning today with NW winds 20-25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Anybody on the lake today has to be a nut! The white caps are rolling!

Nothing in particular planned for today. I may do some morfe work on the layout later. With the wind the way it is there's a possibility of the power going out and I don't want to be in the middle of a project step when it does. Just better to sit back and ride it out.

Good morning folks.

It's been three days of freezing rain/drizzle and now we head into the deep freeze for a few days. Highs will be near zero tomorrow!

I recently purchased an eight car CNW passenger train made by Rivarossi. I've never bought anything by them but for $75 off eBay I couldn't resist. Besides, I'm wondering what longer passenger cars look like on my layout and this is far cheaper than Walthers. I have one curve that goes down to 24 inch radius but the rest are 28 and larger. We'll see if I have problems or not. I thought this may get me into the layout for a while as well.

It's slow at work so the boss is going to be crabby when he gets back from a trade show. I've told him repeatedly that the sales will drop way off for six to eight weeks before rebounding but I don't think he believed me!

Time to get back to work.
Have a good day everyone.

60* and windy here in MD. Went into work an hour late because I wanted to make sure my property is prepared for the coming storm. Test-started my generator, brought all the trash cans into the shed. Don't want to be taken by surprise like I was last June 29, when we got a derecho (sp?) with 70-mph winds.

There should be no problem with a Rivarossi train on curves ranging from 24 to 28" radius. I used to run them on 22" w/o problem. Depending on condition, you may need/decide to add weight and change couplers or install interiors etc. but I still have mine, and occasionally run 'em.

Toot: Thats a decent video, and a couple of nice trains.

Jeffrey: Walthers EH? Looks good. I have one to build someday......

Temperature finally went into the 60s with mixed sun and clouds. Storm's supposed to be on its way, but until then - it's nice - I'll take it. Sure easier to take than last weeks 20F highs.;).

The choice is to start on the taxes, or work on a tank car kit.......answer is.....tank car kit.
