Not to pick nits, (as Selector sez), they aren't even close! They are very sharp, but they're not made with a fine enough edge.

The rest of the suggestions were very good.

They be sharp enough! Had one roll off the workbench once, fell off the bench and landed, point down, on my sneaker. I looked down to see it standing upright, sunk to the handle in the top of my shoe! Next thing I realized was that I had no pain, I felt no wetness. I reached down, removed the knife and took off my show. Thankfully it landed between my 1st and 2nd toe, landing right where a flip-flop normally rides between the toes!

Now all of my knives have these neat little triangular things on them that now only give my hands a better grip on the knives, but also stop them from rolling! :D

I want to dunk him in a 10% Dakin's Solution. That will kill anything.;)

He and his mother went to LR for the other grandparents to help celebrate his first birthday at the first of this month. He got lots of presents and being the generous kid he is, he brought his "GOP!", (that's what he calls me, and about that loud too,) another URI.

Been coughing up some really bad looking crap since then. Believe it or not, I've coughed so hard and so much that I now feel it in the ribs I broke in August! Man that HURTS!!! And I still have it.

Another round of pneumonia anyone????

CJ, I know the feeling. got a grandkids B-day party to attend Saturday. Was thinking of wearing HAZMAT gear!!:D

Hopefully your cough will pass soon! I had one of those creepin crud things a few years back, coughed so much I broke blood vessels in both eyes, eventually turning all the white parts red. When I returned to work my eyes were still red. My minions were referring to thier boss a Satan 2.0 for about a week afterward!

Karl;

Maybe you should have worn a tight red suit and carried a trident???:D

...The finger I nearly cut off with one would beg to differ...
Don't ask...:o

Terry;

I'm not saying that #11 X-acto blades aren't sharp, they are very sharp. (I still have a numb area on a finger that I almost cut off with my Dad's super sharp pocket knife when I was 14.) But when you almost cut that finger off with that X-acto blade, if it had been a scalpel, you probably would have cut it completely off.

It has to do with what the blades were designed to cut through, and how thin and smooth each blade's cutting edge was ground to. The cutting edge on a #11 scalpel is ground much thinner than the thickness of the edge on the #11 X-acto. The thinner the cutting edge is, the sharper the blade is.

There are however, two drawbacks to using scalpels in modeling.:( One, they dull much faster than the X-actos. Two, as a result, they will cost more in the long term.

Since I retired as an Operating Room RN, I've lost my "pusher" and the retail price on the blades is too much for me. When the last of the 5 boxes of 50 blades I bought when I retired runs out, I'll have to use the #11 X-actos full time.:(

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

I know those scalpels  I use them in my kit for making modular synthesizers---for wire stripping:eek::rolleyes: and my plastic parts---

And I will say they are frikking sharp!!:eek:

Just a suggestion, get some Exacto blades, and use them for the heavy-duty stuff. Your scalpel blades will last longer.

Happy Turkey Day!
We're sitting in our in-laws' campground, where we store our RV. We're going to have Thanksgiving dinner with them later. I found that overnight temps of 29 degrees will freeze a brand new RV toilet. Sigh. I'll have to buy a new one tomorrow, the hobby Black Friday purchases will have to wait...

HAPPY TURKEY DAY EVERYBODY!!!:D:D:D

Terry,,,,,,pardon the pun,,,but thats a bummer!!;)

Hey, is it me or what? Seems like the diner traffic has slowed considerably since Chris got himself a girlfriend!
Hope he's enjoying his holiday, and counting the things he's thankful for and not just stuffing a bird!!!

Good morning folks.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

My wife has to work today so it's kind of a weird holiday for me. I guess I should be thankful she has a job. A crappy, low paying job, but a job none the less. My brother is hosting the big meal so I have a day to sit around and do nothing. That's fine, I have Christmas duties this year so he can put in some work.

The weather looks decent today so everybody should be able to make into town. That's a blessing in itself.

I hope you all have a good day.

Good morning. It's 74 and cloudy. The high will be 78 and there's a 50% chance of rain this afternoon. The low tonight will drop to 37.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I don't see any layout work getting done today. In fact I fully anticipate having to be rolled home later today. I'll be having Thanksgiving dinner at my sisters place as usual. She has the table for a neighborhood feast and she cooks enough for a small army. Finally got the track soldering all done and filed down any bumps in the solder. Now the soldered areas need to be painted so they match the rails. The wiring of the structures that will be lit is going to be fun.

Happpppppppy Thanksgiving All!
Not much excitement around here for today. The wife has to work, but will pick up my Mom when she gets off. Just the three of us will attack the buzzard and goodies she cooked last night. Still, much to be thankful for and that is what counts.

Need some advice: I should have paid more attention to past posts about cameras, but never thought I would be able to get a good one. For our "WE" Christmas present, we've been looking at the Canon Rebel T2i, with 18-55mm lens and 55-250mm IS Telephoto lens. Is this a good camera for doing it all and for a non-Pro? Not for sure this is what we will do, but we really need a better camera. Fortunately, the wife has a Christmas club savings account. Also: I've been pricing this combo (w/bag) at Best Buy and Dell. Would you suggest a good retailer for pricing. Would there be better pricing on this during Brown Monday's Cyber sales?

Modeling continues at a reasonable pace doing all those little fix-its that have been put off. I haven't found the courage to start a major project, trying to avoid making a mess during the holidays and visitors.

Guess you heard: Thanksgiving naps have been limited to 30 minutes, by the WH. Something to do with not paying enough attention to the Yadda-Yadda:D

:)ENJOY!:)

Hey Rex,,, save some Buzzard for me will ya :p Happy Thanksgiving Sir

Brrrrrrrrrr must go log on, log on the fire that is :D

I always have used #11 Xactos for "heavy" stuff. Unless the scalpel has a reinforced back, they can shatter with to much force applied.

Thank you much, Steve. Come on over and join in. Beware: you will have to buy two seats for your return flight.

I have to agree with you CJ on just how sharp a scalpel is. Every time you came over and I saw yours, I started to bleed. LOL:D

Well wouldn't you know it technical difficulties on the local PBS radio station so I do not know if my little Thanksgiving made the national airwaves or not. After the Turkey Confidential went off on NPR the local NPR station WFYI carried all five of the seleted stories from Central Indiana so my voice did make the airwaves. We went to our youngest daughters house on the west side of INDY for the day and had a very nice time with Alissa(grandaughter) and her parents. Did not over eat but got my fill plus I got to tease Alissa so the day was a very good one..

Happy turkey day everyone! I am giving thanks for everything I have now. I am on meds that have my shizoaffective disorder under control, I have a great wife that understands, and I have three pretty good kids that are mostly polite and lovable. lol I thank the lord every morning that I wake up to. I am thankful for all of the doctors and nurses that have all gotten me to this point in my life. I'm thankful that I have a hobby now that I can do, sick or not. I can just run them if I can't work on them. And thank all of you that are helping more in my pursuit of this wonderful hobby and helping me get deeper into it so I can teach my boys how to do it. Thanks for reading this!

Ok, the turkey is empty and I am the one stuffed. Hope all had a good one.

Mikey: I will ease up on you...until after the game. Ha! Ha!
I look at the game two ways:
Bama doesn't have all their ores in the water = slaughter
Bama at their best = a battle that will send the War Buzzards home with wings clipped.

You know the bad thing if Auburn looses, they won't be able to show Oregon how a good team plays football.

BTW Jeffrey: I'm with you! ;)

Bama is a good team if they are on a consistent basis. They way they've been lately I'm not sure. lol I'm up on everything this year. Already have my xmas shopping done, and I am going to really concentrate on my xmas layout now that turkey day is over and I can do things without the space constraint. I don't have another group that has to be to be as big as the group that was here today.

I got thru today with only one xanax so I think I did pretty good. lol My boys were all good today, which I complemented on. I am getting ready to go downstairs and work on it. So happy thanksgiving to all and to all a good shopping night!! :D
