No, it's the same shot basically. One in low light, the other in normal light. But you are right about the cleanup. It did clean up well. I had torn it down to the frame so that allowed for a full cleaning.

Evening all, been away for a while and on my holidays in the sun, we went to Surfers Paradise in Cornwall, didnt get to do any surfing as it was to nice with no decent surf, just sun sun and more sun, unlike home. Ron I have a friend from Illinois works in Philly, he would sooner be in Illinois at this time but work pressure means he has to stay there.
Rex Sounds like you been having fun to with the ARG'ers, i had a mad hour today throwing the wifes stuff out of my garage so i can get to our little railroad, her crap was broken by the cat so everything has to go to the local dump, dammed cat ha ha ha ;)

Today I took the time to put the Sunrise Feed Mill kit together. This evening I put the first coat of paint on the walls. A thin coat so the underlying gray weathered wood color shows through. I then dry-brushed on an overcoat that makes the coloring more uniform but still somewhat rough like the building hasn't had a coat of paint applied to it in years. Tomorrow I may get started on masking off the walls and doing the doors and windows in a different color. Most of the details are molded on so I had no choice but to paint over them. It's water based paint so it shouldn't dry thick like enamel has a nasty habit of doing.

Good morning. It's 72 and sunny. The high is forecast to be 102. It will remain sunny and hot.

This morning I'll most likely be mowing my parents yard. Once that's out of the way I'll be able to get back to the model of the Sunrise Feed Mill. I got the walls painted last night and it looks like weathered rough paint. That's the effect I was after. I want it to look like it hasn't seen a paint brush in years. That's just what the old wood buildings along the tracks in Leesville look like. Today I'll mask off the walls so I can paint the windows, doors and foundation. For the roof I have a color called 'Cooled Lava' that looks like a weathered black.

Good morning folks.

I've been having a traintastic day so far. I finally gave the concrete streets in Mankato a stain of India ink and alcohol. They look so much better with a little grime. I also added gravel parking lots to the area around the mill and in between the buildings. This work today covers one of the last foam areas that had been unfinished on the layout. It's nice to give this area a little more of a finished look. Now I need to figure out how I want to continue main street into the backdrop. The solution has eluded me for quite some time.

I think I'll run some trains and see what else I can do today. I'd hate to stop now when I know my next six days off are spoken for.

Have a great day folks.

Hey Guys,

Business seems alittle slow eh Flo?

We survived the "hurricane". The lights flickered once but only lost power long enough to gave to reset the clocks on all of the appliances. We were projected to get nearly 11 inches if rain, I think we might have gotten 3 or 4.

Anyhow, yesterday was a pretty fantastic day. The weather was great. I turned 16 yesterday, so I took my permit test first thing in the morning. I passed with flying colors. I then drove from there to football practice. Later on in the day I was called by my dad to give him a hand installing a generator hookup for the restaurant that I work at. I was offered a job while I was there as well. It was determined long ago that I could work inside the restaurant when I came of age. As of right now I'm waiting for my football schedule to determine if I'll be able to work there. After that we went home for my birthday dinner and my favorite meal, surf and turf. The steak tasted great and the crab was just as delicious.

So that was my day yesterday. Today i drove to practice. Tonight i have a haircut and am then going to the mall. I'll possibly be going to the movies later. I plan on driving to both of those.

Have a great day everybody.
-Matt

I got the walls of the feed mill masked off earlier and painted the doors and windows and thought the hardest parts was done. Silly me! Now I'm masking off the areas where the roof sections meet the walls and all of a sudden there are a bazillion corners:eek:. Almost ready to paint the roof though.

Happy Birthday Matt! The day I got my license was a great day if I recall. My birthday isn't until May so it felt like EVERYBODY could drive before me! Good luck with your football season.:)

I have the Mantua 2-8-2 all packed up for one of my forum members and it'll be going out this week. He saw it last night and snapped it up.

I got the roof of the feed mill painted. All that's left is some trim work.

Happy 16th Matt. That was a long time ago for me. I was living in Bietigheim-Bissingen at that time. That's a town of about 40,000 in the Baden-Württemberg area of Germany about twelve miles north of Stuttgart. There were places where the streets were so narrow only one vehicle at a time could get through and this was on streets with two way traffic! We lived there for a little over a year while we waited for an opening in the US quarters in Pattonville just east of Ludwigsburg. Boy, how would I like to be back there again - NOT!

Good morning. It's 74° and sunny. The high today will be 99° (why don't I believe that?) and it will be mostly sunny and hot (now that I believe). I'm thinking it will be more like 102° today.

Today I'll continue work on the feed mill. There's still some paint trim work to done and I want to put a few 'patched' places on the roof and 'replace' a couple of planks in the loading/unloading dock. It might be interesting to 'replace' a board of two in the lap siding with a different color.

Good morning folks

It was 70 F this bright morning. Our high will be 85 F.

I had a touch of some kind of stomach virus or something. It had me up most of Monday night. I took the day off yesterday to try to catch up on some sleep and get back into the groove of things.

I had more trouble this morning getting to work than I did right after the hurricane. It seems that some trees decided to wait until a day or so later to fall. I ran into about five road closures this morning. Most of them were open on Monday.

My daughter’s volleyball team is in a state of chaos. Apparently after their first scrimmage yesterday the captains came up with their own line-up and presented it to the coach. The coach actually used the line-up and it did better than hers in second scrimmage. In the third scrimmage she tinkered with different combinations of both line-ups.

Happy belated Birthday Matt!

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning. It's 72° and mostly clear. The high is forecast to be 97° (feel like 102°) and it will be hot and sunny with some clouds.

I spent yesterday for the most part finishing the feed mill and getting a couple of other projects wrapped up. Now I once again have to clear the layout of the resulting clutter before starting on the next project, whatever it may be. Part of today will be spent paying bills. Some I can pay online and a couple are automatic payments I don't have to worry about. A few places however are still stuck in the middle of the last century so I have to go into town and tend to each one individually. I'll also be dropping some packages at the Post Office so they can be sent to their new homes. Last but not least I'll be getting the grocery shopping done. Think I'll give the new Marketbasket a try.
