Well since we're on the dog theme I have to post a picture of mine. This was a couple of months after we got her. She's over 80lb now and a wee bit larger
Gabby-1a.png

At that age she was a real stinker, if it could be destroyed it was. That chain was in pieces the next day
Hard to get a photo of her, she's so black it seems all features get lost.
Anyway she seems to be Lab. Golden and a bit of Newfoundland thrown in for good measure

Cheers
Willis

Good morning.

It's a pleasant 77 degrees and clear. Too bad it won't stay that way. The high is expected to be in the mid 90's and it should be partly cloudy with a slim chance of showers. I really wouldn't mind some rain.

Hopefully my internet service stays up today and won't do a repeat of yesterday, when email was slower than snail mail. If I get around to it I'll be doing some general scenery work today, just whatever needs to be done.

Mornin' all!

Just gettin' ready for the day. I teach today! And I usually co-teach this class, but today my co-teacher won't be there until late, so I'm grabbing the reigns and runnin' with it! I'm teaching on the letters in Revelation (ch. 2-3). It's a pretty healthy sized chunk of Scripture. Should be pretty cool.

Gotta mow the lawn today and clean the garage some too. Throw in that the wife will undoubtably have a "hunny do" list of her own, and it doesn't look like I'll be idle for long today.

I'll catch up with you all later......after I'm worn out!

Bye!

Oh, and on the subject of dogs.....

My dog passed away the day after Christmas this year. Her name was Maggie. I haven't gotten a replacement yet (Like any dog could replace her). She was my buddy, and she loved to go railfanning. Here's a video of her playing with my daughter. She sounds vicious, but she's harmless.

We now are left with my wifes dogs (my daughter pictured with tinkerbell and Bruiser).

And our family cat, Zoe.

I was going to get together everything I needed to do up a model of the abandoned baggage car in Leesville. One big problem. I don't have a smooth-side baggage car. The smooth-side car I have in a junk box turned out to be a RPO. Guess I'll have to see what I can find at the LHS the next time I go to Alexandria.

Good evening all!
I finally got to take some pictures of the "Bama Boys" at 6 weeks old, with Archie on the left and Ralph on the right. This wasn't easy as they haven't slowed down for anything.:D
Jim, get your wife to take a look. Hehehehehe!

Rex! Those puppies are simply adorable! The names even fit! They truly are just perfect. I showed them here at home and they received a HUGE "awww".
I am sure they will be your buddies for many years. :)

They are a couple cute lil rascals!

Rex, those critters certainly are highly adorable!

I got a "dog" of a different sort yesterday: What I thought was a replacement decoder from TCS was the very same defective one I sent in! They claimed it "tested good" and didn't need to be replaced. But, sure enough, after it was in my loco [a different one than the first time] for ~ 10 minutes, it did exactly the same thing it was doing before I sent it in: made my loco run at full blast, totally ignoring any commands from the throttle. If these people are going to believe a 30-second wire hookup over the word of a customer, they are not worth doing business with in my book. Their so-called "goof proof warranty" is a sham, I'll never buy another TCS decoder - you can count on that.

Ken: I don't buy from TCS either, primarily because of accounts like yours that I've read on other sites.

Good morning.

It's 78 and clear this morning. The high is expected to be in the high 90's and it will be partly cloudy with a small chance of thunderstorms.

The saga of the internet problems drags on. Right now it's doing alright, download and upload speeds are both high. I expect the upload speed to drop off around 11am or noon. Yesterday it went from a speed of 500 all the way down to a speed of 1! They're sending a tech out today, probably on a mission to prove that it's my equipment and not their's that's causing the problem. How's my equipment going to effect an entire area? Why do other systems in this area exhibit the exact same symptoms as mine? I'm goint to keep passing the buck back to them until this gets resolved.

Good morning folks

It was a sticky 75 F as I headed back to work. High today will be 92 F. We had some rain last night but all it did was make the humidity worse.

It was a busy weekend. Saturday we went to the movies and saw Hellboy II. We followed that with one the worst dinners in a while. Service was poor and we had to send one of our dishes back twice in order for them to get it right. Then the waiter starts making excuses and arguing with us. At which point I informed him that I used to do short order cooking and that if the cook had a problem with my complaint he can come talk to me about himself. Needless to say the tip was very small and had a note reminding the waiter that he is in customer service not the other way around. On Sunday we went to the Crayola Factory and National Canal Museum in Easton. Even though the kids may have been a little old for Crayola they still had a good time. Putting them in a situation where they can make stuff is right up their alley and the Crayola is very hands on. The Canal Museum was also a lot of fun with a several hands exhibit. The best was when the kids got to operate a model boat through a canal with locks and incline planes. It was a great way to teach how a canal works. The Museum also had a some model trains and a small operating G- scale layout.

No modeling. I did run a train and do a photo session. I just did not get the time to upload the photos.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning ! From beautiful Western New York from the banks of the Old Erie Canal . Our local festival went out with a bang last night and won't be seen again for another year . I made it through the craft show for two days without my wife buying a single thing . Quite a feat . But it was sure a great place to people watch . Also went to a pig roast at my nephew's home. Boy New York has some tough laws when it comes to catering . The roasted pig could only be served for a certain amount of time off the heat and the left over carcass and what ever meat was left on it had to be taken back by the caterer and thrown out because it was off the heat to long . I think the nehpew got scamed but it wasn't my party . Oh well have a go get the morning coffee . Hope all of you have a nice day !!!! Rex two beautiful puppies you have there , Just a little hard to watch dogs right now as iwait for the final days of our little girl !! Right now my wife and daughter our spoon feeding her baby food to try and get her ti eat ! Will let them try to get her going a little longer !!

Paul I sympathize with you about your beautiful old dog. I just got home from the Vets. Had to have my old cat, Sheila, put to sleep this morning. She had lost 1.25 lbs. since she was seen a couple months ago (1/4 of her weight). I described all of what she was doing. The vet listened to her breathing and found it was becoming labored. She thinks she may have had a tumor in her chest. She described what a cat in pain acts like and described Sheila to a tee. We decided not to put her through any tests at 21 years of age and to say goodbye. I shed a few tears for the old girl, I might add. I will miss her!

Good Morning All! We have 101 deg forecast as a high today with a 107 heat index:eek: Gads, I hate summers. Thank you all for the wonderful comments about our new pals. They are getting along fine: play, sleep, play, sleep, investigating everything:D. They can already scoot up the porch steps on their own  .

Ken: I believe that you should stay clear of TCS. Some have had good success, but like Jeffrey, I have heard they are more flakey than not.

Paul/Ray: I am very sorry for my poor timing of posting the puppy pictures; I was just excited and wanted to show them off....just wasn't thinking. I honestly feel for you both and understand your pain. I think we put the fact that their life spans are shorter than ours to the back of our minds and then it is so hard to accept when it is their time to go. If you remember, we went through the same thing with Rusty our Golden 1 1/2 yrs ago and then with Mo, our poodle, this past winter. My thoughts to both of you.;)

Hi Rex. Absolutely no problem on my part! Your puppies are beautiful! Just serves as a good reminder of how fragile life is and it is good to see the start of a new relationship in your family. Kinda balances the loss of old friends..... May those puppies grow old in a loving and caring family!

For old Sheila, the vet described the behavior of a cat in pain, and it described exactly some of her recent behavior. Her breathing was becoming labored, so it wasn't a hard decision to make. I know I did the right thing for her! The timing was also good as I have a week to make sure my other two cats have accepted Sheila not being here before I go to camp. Now to start cleaning up the house from the messes the old girl did over the last month...

Ray, I am so sorry to read about your Shiela. It is still a difficult decision to make even though it is the right one. How wonderful though, that you had her company for so many years.

Rex, Sharing those photos was just the right thing at the right time. Because those puppies are so precious, they bring some happiness to aching hearts.

Paul and Ray - my condolences, I know that kind of pain! I remember having this solid black kitten when I was a kid. One day he got his leg caught between the slats of an old lawn swing and twisted the joints really bad. My parents took him to the vet, but when they came home they told me they didn't want to pay the bills to have him treated, so they had him put to sleep instead. I was so grieved and angry that I was totally useless for a few weeks.

Rex - I look forward to seeing those puppies up-close & personal when I come down to 'Bama in early August!

Jeffrey - I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with TCS, there seem to be so many modelers who think I'm the one at fault. It's not the decoder failure itself that angers me, but rather, the fact that they falsely raised my expectations with their too-good-to-be-true warranty hype. I could've easily bought a replacement decoder 3 weeks ago and saved myself alot of heartburn if not for that. [BTW - thanx for recommending that DZ125 for my SW9, it fits perfectly and works like a swiss watch! :) ]
