Good morning.

It 74 this morning, slightly cooler than yesterday morning. It's also very cloudy. The high should be in the lower 90's and thunderstorms are expected to raise their ugly heads.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. With the number of thunderstorms that moved through this area I'm surprised I wasn't off-line the entire day. I also stumbled across a Mantua Tyco loco (Santa Fe 4015). With the parts I have on hand it should make a good rebuilding project. Why? Why not. I also cleaned all the track on the back side of the layout. Lots of fun that was getting the dried glue film off the rails. At least ballast isn't something that has to be put down more than once.

Good morning folks

It was 70 F with a comfortable humidity this morning on the way in. The high today will be 88 F with sun.

We went to the Wilmington Blue Rocks game last and what a disappointment. We have been to several Blue Rocks games over the last five years and we noticed that starting last year prices have gone up for things at the stadium and their between innings entertainment has gone down. Last night we found ourselves paying the same prices or just a little lower at the concession stand than at the Phillies and the Blue Rocks are Class A. Their prizes they gave to the kids from their prize wheel were pitiful. My daughter got an information sheet on a player who played for the Blue Rocks in 2000 and my son got a pen that didn’t even have the Blue Rocks name on it. It was from a local bank. It was obvious they were cleaning out their closets. In the past they used to give away baseball cards, baseballs, pens with Blue Rocks on them. Even though the Blue Rocks were winning the crowd was uninspired and quiet. They also over sold the General Admission seats which meant that by the time we got to the game there were no seats available. It is sad to see what was a fun night out at the ball game turn into something lackluster and I doubt we will go back. No wonder the place was only half full. It was the smallest crowd I ever seen at a Blue Rocks game. We’ll go see the Camden Riversharks play if we want a fun night of minor league baseball.

No modeling last night.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning folks! My wife has gotten over the initial shock of the layout. I think part of it is the height of the tables. They are fifty inches off the ground. It really blocks off the room. My last layout was kitchen table height. I think she thought these would be the same. I think I'm in the clear.

It's funny how everyone in my family thinks that what I'm building is so neat. Her family is especially excited about it. I figured I would get made fun of. Even the folks at work think it's a cool thing. I found out that a few of them use to be into model railroading. I guess I've never been one to get made fun of. I guess it's like anything else, you have to own it. Whether it's a goofy shirt, a goofy dance, or a silly hobby.

I'm going up north with the in-laws for a long weekend. It should be a good time. Apparently, we are going to try to golf eighteen holes with half of us who are not really golfers. Thank God it's a private course!

Have a good day everyone!

Just looked through my mail yesterday and found that my new copy of "ABC's of Building Model Railroad Cars" by Wayne Wesolowski came in. I've been waiting a while for this. My old copy, which I got back in the 80's, had been stolen. I hope whoever has it is enjoying it as much as I did.

Hi everyone,

How incredibly frustrating these past 18 hours have been! (None of it hobby-related)

After leaving work yesterday, I waited at the Verizon store for 90 minutes only to be told that it would cost $270 to replace my 18yr-old daughter's cell phone, and the battery in her current phone was not available there [had to order it online]. Then early this morning, I had to take this same daughter to the airport so she can visit some pals in L.A., but she's never flown by herself before - so I had to accompany her to make sure she didn't make any "newbee traveler" mistakes. She discovered she was required to check both suitcases because they were full of cosmetics, gels and other stuff that was recently added to the carry-on verbotten list. Then I got lost in the parking garage trying to find my space [yes I had the number written down!] but I couldn't find the section of spaces that my number was part of - and the concierge was totally useless as far as helping me locate the mystery section. Finally I found it after walking nearly the entire 5th level...

No modeling/operating for me last night. Today is my regular-scheduled half-day, but since my son is out of town it looks like I'm the one who gets to mow the lawn today.

Have a good'un

Mornin' everyone!

Ken your experience only adds to list of why I don't like cell phones.... Heck I usually ignore the land line when it rings, why would I want to walk around "connected" to the rest of the world constantly. The first time I went family camping about 35 years ago we came home, unpacked, and my wife looked at me and said, "Know what? That damn phone hasn't rung all weekend......" I do have one. It's out in the car someplace. Probably ought to get it out and recharge it. It is about 8 years old,. Probably has been used 5 or so times. Only $15 a month for it (plus tax, air fees, line line connection fees, and the list goes on) but it gives me 25 "free" minutes to gab a month....... WOW!!!! (Sorry for the rant.)

I'm still recovering from camp. Every year it takes a while longer. Made a Vet appointment for old Sheila this morning. She is having times where she is off her food, won't take her meds in the treat, and is using the carpet as a litter box. She is also getting very frail and walks unsteady, although she still jumps up on things.

Hope you all have a great day!

So, I was watching the show about the history of the Tattoo on History last night, and during the first few minutes, they show a number of people with Tattoo's. This guy hold up his right arm and points to the inside of his bicep, and there's a huge (about 5" around) Southern Pacific logo!

Chris You know,,, the guy next door has got a megga sulk on, he's a tree hugger,,, but he can't hug it cos it's gone,,, ha ha ha. He said sure, cut of what you want,,, now it's "you have butchered it" tough, it was over my garden and the guy's next to mine and the law says you can cut anything that grows back to the fence line if you don't like it.

Repeat after me You don't need a cell phone, You don't need a cell phone, You don't need a cell phone. I hate them, how DID the pioneers build America without them,,, ;)

Mornin' everyone!

I don't like cell phones much either. They come with all sorts of add ons that I don't want on a cell phone. In my mind, all they should do is make/recieve phone calls. I have my computer for the web, and my VHS/DVD for movies.

Had a touch of Fall around here this mornin'. Temps not far from here were in the mid to high 50's and my thermometer showed 60! Currently its already up to 86.

Well, back to the basement

I just got out of one of those training sessions where I would like to know how I get back the three hours of my life that was just wasted. :( Sitting around counting ceiling tiles would have been more productive.

The wifes gone from nurse to patient with heart trouble, and she's only done half a shift,,, she's got to see the consultant in the morning :( hope it's not bad

I had some business to take care of in Alexandria today and picked up a couple of items while I was there. A pack of WS assorted crates, Walther's 785-1855 and a package of Fine Turf (earth), Walther's 785-42. It was a bit of fun coming back. There were cops all over Alexandria and Leesville and that car of mine doesn't like 55. It wants to go, go, go!

No Celly phone No WORK, My job hinges on it! Wouldn't be caught dead with out one!

Steve I hope you pulled the muffler of the chain saw when you did the deed to increase the noise polution, put extra oil in the fuel mix to make it smoke more, and burnt the tree cuttings to increase your CO2 output! then video taped it all and sent a copy to your neigbor, a copy to Al Gore and a copy to the head of the Serria Club! LOL's

Steve, I too will send up a prayer for your wife's health. I am sure she is going to be fine!

Jim, Very belated anniversary wishes for you and your wife. I seemed to be crazy-busy this weekend and missed the opportunity for more timely wishes. 5 hours of b-ball is a bit much. My sister once went to a MN Twins game in MN that lasted 24 innings. Started at 7:00 pm and ended around 1:30 am. Now I love a good game and could watch the Rockies and/or the Rangers play a good long time, but that is just too much! (I DO love those Rangers uniforms...oh my!!)

Chris, I could not make myself read the article about the puppy. I flippin' hate seeing animals mistreated. I have a St Bernard, Bubbles, who is spoiled rotten. Actually, she is the sweetest girl. Not the brightest dawg I've known...but just plain sweet.

Ray, It looks like you have a power shopper on your hands! She is adorable! It sounds like you had an awesome music camp. We are in the midst of Camp Meetings here right now. Colorado has two each year. One on the Eastern slope and one on the Western Slope. We also have a huge one in Wyoming, so we have some pretty good opportunities to get together and worship and simply have fun.

I was supposed to go to Colorado Springs this past weekend for a bday get-together...or so I thought. I got my weekends mixed up. Sheesh! I am glad I got in touch with the host of the party BEFORE I headed down there. :o
So it is on for this weekend. I will have a great time with friends that I have known most of my life.

So instead of a party, I studied most of the weekend. I am now taking Biological Methods in Psychology. I am so thankful that I have a working knowledge of the anatomy of the brain from my EMT days. This class is a doozey. Took me 2 days to write an 800 word paper on Biological Foundations. Just got my grade back and I aced it...not sure why...

Steve, keep us posted on how your wife is doing...

Take care,
Sandy

It was a bit smokey the saw, it only gassed me !!!
Wifes ECG is not good, more test in the morning

Steve a 3 of monthes ago I took my wife to the hospital for Heart trouble her ECG and a few other things pointed to her heart 24 hrs later it turned out to be her gall blader needed out! If they would have taken few hours more to discover her problem her blader would have ruptured!!!

Your Family will be in our prayers! When Mommy ain't well........... People suffer!LOL's

Sandy I got one big 85lb Black lab/Chow mix and a Little weener/terrier mix. They are part of our family and they are a joy to have around! Dogs and fish are the greatest pets, and when some one is mistreating one I get  !
