Mornin' all!

Well, it's 26 degrees out there right now......up from a brisk 18 earlier! Should be a lovely day!

And you guys can't have that nasty weather until I'm done with it! So there! :D

3763_G.jpg

Today: turning cloudy, rain and sleet / snow mix develops - High: 36
Tonight: rising temperatures, scattered pockets of rain - 7am Temp: 49

I'm up to my eyeballs in schoolwork today. What about you guys?
Actually, I've got dibs on the weather! It's here right now. It went from cold, to cold, snowing and 25mph winds in five minutes. I guess it's only going to get better. Later this afternoon we're looking at freezing rain! Oh JOY!

Oh! Well if you want to hang on to that for a while, the rest of us won't mind!

I think it's here to stay a while. "And since there's no place to go....let it snow, let it snow, let it snow". Actually, I'm at my store today. I don't think many people are going to rush out to buy a suit before dark!

Good morning! Another beautiful day here in the Finger Lakes. 18°F outside right now (5°F if you are watching the wind chill figures) and will get up to 23° later this afternoon. "Were havin' a Heatwave, tropical heatwave......" Have a few little bits of partly cloudy falling adding to the inch or so we got last night. We are under a Winter Storm Watch for the next couple of days.

"A STORM SYSTEM MOVING NORTHEAST FROM COLORADO IS EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE AREA FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW...MIXED WITH SLEET...FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN. THE WORST CONDITIONS MAY COME MONDAY ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE SYSTEM WITH STRONG WINDS...SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW."

This is right on schedule to mess up rehearsal time for the Holiday Concerts. Makes me very happy that I am retired and don't really have to worry about it any more........;) :D :D :D

Actually got the main parts done of that retaining wall I was working on last night. Screwed up 3 wall sections total. If I had messed up one more section, I would have had to go buy yet another package of them. Hopefully I will get some time today to add some drywall plaster in a few spots to "clean" them up. Then possibly tomorrow I will stain the sections.

Gotta go get 4 wreaths from my old Boy Scout Troop. They started selling wreaths way back when I was the Scoutmaster over 15 years ago and it still the major fundraiser for the year.

Morning guys!

It was -16C (3F) this morning and it's taking it's sweet time coming up. :) Plus a storm's coming tonight - probably the same storm Paul is talking about.

Have yard work to do today...all our garden furniture didn't make it in so it's time to freeze the gonads and pack it up until spring.

On a side note, I went to a well known Toronto train shop yesterday during a work trip to the city. I am amazed at the detail level on some of these high end diesels on the market. I've always been the type of guy who thinks engines are for running not just showing, but now I can see the point of just showcasing an engine on display.

Also we'd be remiss if we were to not recognize it is Dec 1 - the final countdown to Christmas! I'm assuming since most of us are guys that we all haven't started shopping for gifts yet... :D

Good Saturday Morning, everyone!
You Northern boys can have that kind of weather. That sounds too rough with the ice and all. I'll take our high today of 70 deg F., but hope for it to get back to norm around 45-50 deg. Don't get me wrong; I would like a little snow, but I have tired of wishing for it (10years):D .

Last night, the wife and I went to a Christmas concert at the University and had a wonderful time. The "University Singers" and orchestra put on a very happy and fun filled two-hour show. I even tried to sing ...that was a mistake:eek:D :D !

:) Hope you all have a great day.:)

another nice day today, sounded like the roof was coming off last night along with torential rain, bit of a mess today though.

Anyone heard from Fergie and Grandpa coyote

Rex, be very careful what you wish for..... You might get it! ;) :D

Steve, Fergie has been in across the street quite a bit, but I haven't seen hide nor hair of him over here in a couple of months. Don't think he likes us anymore.:( Grandpa Coyote hasn't posted in quite a while either. Hope he is alright!

i just hope the weather holds off long enough for my 8am flight out Philiadelphia. If they delay my flight my cruise vacation to the islands is off.

i'm getting a little nervous....

Jeez couldn't you guys keep it for a little longer. Snowed last night, was sunny this morning and we're being dumped on right now. Wife wanted some things at Wal*Mart and the dog needed some treats. I got a little ways down the road, the visibility was extremely poor and I decided it just wasn't worth chancing it. When I tried to find a place to turn around I knew then it was the right decision.

Cheers Willis

Our weather guessers were a little off. The snow turned to sleet an hour ago. Further north of us, they're getting more snow than us. So now we have a few inches of snow with an inch or so of sleet. Tonight we're going to get freezing rain to seal it all up! Nice and Shiney!

Afternoon all. I'm with Rex on letting all you Northerners hang on to that snow, sleet, freezing rain and ice. It's 73 degrees here right now, a perfect fall day on December 1, just the way I like it. :)

Tom, I saw the film of that Amtrak wreck too and I'm not surprised that the media reported it crashed into a a "boxcar" I think they know about tow kinds of things on a railroad - a passenger car and a boxcar. It's all generic. I learned from being interviewed too many times on crimes scenes not give the press too many details - it just confuses them.

Mark, those snow pictures are absolutely horrible. Not the pictures themselves but remembering opening the garage door to just that kind of scene. The only difference was I was a teenager and I was the snow blower - with a shovel. :(

Ryan, I hope your flight makes it out OK and you get some sun and warmth on that cruise.

Ray, I'm good at screwing up the last piece of some project and then having to make the trek to buy more. I've gotten to the point where I buy twice as much of what I think I'll need just to cover my screw up factor. :)

Prattville High School won the finals last night and got to Birmingham next Saturday for the state championship for the second year. Not bad for a small town like ours. There were 15,000 people at the stadium and there probably would have been more but no one else could get in. Prattville will be a ghost town next Saturday since it sounds like about 90% of the town is going to the championship. At least it's at Legion field, which has something like 73,000 seats, so everyone should be able to get in this time.

Finished my cotton field after I got home and gave it a trial fit on the layout. It looks pretty good for having been done by a Yankee who's never seen a cotton field before last year. I need a tractor now and some field hands. I can't imagine how they work those fields in the heat we have down here in the summer.

Just a sittin here at work wating for 8PM so's I can gohome and stay warm. The wind is blowin and it is COLD. I have yet to go out and lock up the back gates and check to make sure all the kerosene and gas pumps are locked. Also need to back the delivery truck into the warehouse. Come on spring I am ready.
I was supposed to install the new carpet in the computer room monday but the special cat pee proof pad did not come in. The store told me they were having a hard time finding it. 3/8" pad with a special protective coating on top to keep liquids foprm getting to the pad and sub floor. Well worth the extra cost to me and especially my wife. Nothing more sickening than walking into a room and smelling cat pee, well one of the more sickening things at least. I will bwe in the wood shop the next two days making the grandkids Christmas presents. I will be in hog heaven, I love the smell of sawdust in the morning, afternoon or evening even. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

three things to top off the smell of fresh wood in the wood shop: the WOOD stove cookin away, with an ole perculator of coffee on it, and it justa snowing away outside!!!!!!!!!!

oppps !! this is the modelrailroader site!!!;) ;)

looks like the weather is changing some and i should be ok on the flight out, i'll see you all next sunday Ryan

Good morning.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 12/2/2007

Dew Point: 66°F

So Far Today
High: 70°F

Rain Rate: 0.00"/h
Gust: 18mph S

Now through 07:00 AM CST December 02, 2007

Patchy fog is being reported across much of the area...becoming dense over portions of southwest Louisiana. This fog is expected to linger until shortly after sunrise. If traveling...allow for extra time to reach your destination.

Today High: 78 Mostly cloudy. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning...then a chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Tonight Low: 48 Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening...then partly cloudy after midnight. Cooler. Lows in the upper 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

I found an old Athearn BB SD40-2 collecting dust in the display case at the LHS and decided to give it a good home. It was an undecorated offering. So far I have the KCS gray on it and have yet to apply the yellow stripe and the couplers. This will be be a new re-do of the old 666 when it's finished.

Good Morning Bill & Jeffrey !!! just a quick hello before I go out and blow off the driveway of that pesky white stuff looks like about 4 inches of the stuff . Suppose to turn to rain later so better get going before it all melts away . And then another arctic blast sennds somemore tonight . That's Western new York gotta love it . Take care and have a nice day ! Go Bills !!!!

Afternoon, all. Bill, that menu looks suspiciously like something from California. Where are the grits, sausage, and biscuits? :)

It's cloudy and mild here with a temperature of 68. There's some faint hope for rain tonight but that same front that's been giving all of you up north fits looks like it will fizzle out before it gets down here.

Ryan, I'm glad the weather is looking better and you'll be able to get out. I envy you being able to sail away to the tropics. I need a diving fix. :)

Larry, I hope you get that pee resistant pad down soon. Cats can be really disgusting animals. That's why I have fish. I took woodshop in high school and everything I made turned out to be an ashtray no matter what it was supposed to be. I decided wood working was not going to be my life's hobby. I'll bet the grandkids love the wooden toys you make for them though.

Jeffrey, nice find on that SD-40. I always liked the looks of that Athearn model even if the long hood is too fat.

Paul, I remember having to shovel snow after it rained on top of it. If I wasn't 16 when I did it, I'd probably die of a heart attack. My sister lives in Cleveland and she had snow, then sleet, then freezing rain, now it's all rain, and then it's supposed to do a repeat performance of the rain->freezing rain->sleet-> then back to snow by tomorrow. What a great place to live. :)

Good afternoon from the beautiful Finger Lakes!

"Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"

Unfortunately, I had to be in church as I am Head Usher for the month of December....

Got home, fired up the old snow blower and did my driveways as well as that of an elderly couple across the street. About the time I started, it decided to start sleeting and now a mix of sleet and rain. My heavy coat is soaked. Supposed to turn back into snow overnight. But hey, it is now officially Advent so we are supposed to get some of this stuff to remind us that Christmas is coming (and more than the Goose is getting FAT!).

That's the only thing I don't like about them. They had to do that to accomodate the Jet 600 motor that was used in them. On the other hand, after a little tweaking the drive system is nearly bullet-proof and is very robust. One thing I do before putting one in service is to remove the top contact strip and solder thin wire in it's place so that contact between the wheels and the motor is never broken.
