Morning everyone, time to start the work week off again. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Donuts are on me again today, nothing like kicking the work week off with a good note.

Mornin' Bill!

Hey look at the crowd in here this morning. Good to see you all!

I have to hang around and wait for the meter reader to show up today (or tomorrow or....) so I can stop getting the "We haven't had an official read of your meter in over a YEAR!" letter. I may move a few things up to the dining room table and work there so I don't miss him this time. Looks like a nice day is going to happen here in the Finger Lakes. High around 80°F, clear and sunny.

Good Morning Everyone! Hope all of you have a very good week.
Today, I will get back to working on my steel mill town. I bought the WS Riverside buildings kit to get a jump start on the setup. It is a great kit of 15 town buildings, complete with metal castings of odds and ends: dogs, cats, junk, barrels, gizmos, fireplugs, and etc. The kits are DPM that are ok, but not the quality of Walthers. I always look at building's kits as it's not the assembly, but the finishing that makes the difference, so we will see how well I do.

Well Josh, they are ok, but require much more prep than the Walthers. By this, I mean the edges are 45deg angled opposite of the joint and have to be sanded flat, where the Walthers are at 45deg towards the joint making a very smooth and square/plum corner. The sprue trash on the parts is absurd; it's not just flashing, but large/thick pieces of sprue left on that requires extra and careful trimming/sanding.

All of this isn't a big deal, but seems so unnecessary with modern day injection molding (they may have old technology molds). Yes, it is part of modeling, but since an 8 year old could easily build one of these, I look at the "finishing" being the modeling challenge more so than the construction. Having to "clean-up" parts is not my idea of a challenge...just aggravation;) :)

As an added note: I don't want this to seem like I am condemning DPM kits, as these are the only ones that I have worked with. Supposedly, they are the same ones that you can buy individually. The price is right and they fill a need. Heck I probably will get a few extras.

Afternoon gents

went to a local show today, lots of interesting stuff on show including steam rollers, traction engines, farm equipment, millitary equipment and a full scale war between the US marines and the germans (and one french resistance fighter) very exciting stuff
Texas Paul a nice caterpilar for you there as well, 1938 i think it was ;)

Haigh Show video

:D

True, true, I usually don't think of counting in the prep work required with DPM's. Mys first kit was enough to make me quit, but I've learned so much in the past 10 years.

Yesterday was the Fantasy Football Draft for my son and his buddies (including his wife) so I had my son and his family come over for a mid-afternoon dinner. I used the day to get some up to date photos of my Granddaughter Olivia at 10 weeks old.

I've been doing a bit of layout work today. Remember all the exposed plaster where the crossovers are?

I put some glue mix down and sprinkled liberally with WS green blended turf.

After it's dried I'll clean up the excess and work on putting some ballast in.

Just thought you might like these links. I'm in the process of filing a complaint about a company that spams me to register every single one of my domains (once a year per) with them for 5X the price I pay now, 3.5X what GoDaddy charges. Anyways:

Good morning folks

It has been more comfortable the last couple of days compared to this past weekend. The humidity has been lower and so have the temperatures. It was 66 F when I rolled out of the driveway this morning. High today is expected to be 85 F. My son’s football team finally broke into two teams. He is now a member of the Drexel Hill Raiders Midget JV Silver team. Hi team has about 17 kids which means they should all get a good amount of playing time. If they kept the group together they would have about 30 kids on one team which is too many to have each kid get a fair amount of playing time.

I began weathering wheels for my next round of car weathering. This round I am weathering 7 Atlas Trainman 70 ton 9 panel hoppers and 4 Atlas cylindrical hoppers.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all!

All remnants of the cool weather have since gone, and old-fashioned heat and humidity will kick in today. After hitting 88 at the airport Monday, we should be back into the 90's for the 29th time this year. Here is a look at high temperatures this afternoon. Weather should stay dry for today, but some rain chances are in store over the next several days. This weekends Drag Racing looks sunny and clear though!

I'm just doing the work thing today. I got my tent down and packed up yesterday, no small feat for an 18x22 cabin tent, so tonight maybe I can mow the lawn. Sounds like a fun day, huh?

How about you?

Good Morning Bill , Tom & Phillip ! Flo a round of coffee on me. Looks like another beautiful day here on the Niagara frontier . Low Humidity and Temps in the low 80's . I can live with that . ell gotta get going to pick up my auto so hope everyone has a real nice day !!!!Ray great looking granddaughter there !

Afternoon everybody!

The guy from the utility Company finally got here this morning and did the yearly obligatory reading of my gas meter. I also got to work a bit on the railing for the Bandstand/Gazebo. Trying to keep scale 2 x 2s lined up even while the glue sets is a lot of fun. Sometimes I'm glad I didn't decide on "n"....;) :D

Is there an easy and quick "button" on each page that you can click for "subscribe to this thread" without posting or going to the subscription list? I have never been clear how this works.
