Well I just got home from the memorial service. It was a tough one as I am dear friends with many family members. It had all the usual maudlin music.... I was talking with my minister and the organist after the service and told both of them, "None of that sad sack crap at my funeral!" Nope, my service will have:

Prelude: Prelude and Fugue in D Minor by J. S. Bach.

First Hymn: The Strife is O'er the Battle Won!

The call to worship will be Luke 2:29-31

And the Postlude: The Toccata from Organ Symphony #5 by Charles-Marie Widor with all the stops pulled out. I'm talking sfv here! And people can get up and dance if they wish.

OK, 'nuff of that. The sun is shining here at the moment and Spring is slowly but surely coming to the Finger Lakes. Le-chiam (to life) to each and every one of you!

Thought I'd drop by and say hello before I charge off to play Holy Saturday Vigil--it's going to be a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG one, we've got about 23 coming into the Church tonight, and most of them have to go through First Baptism. I expect about four hours. That's a LOT of verses of "Come To The River", by golly!

And since Lent is officially over at midnight, I have a foot-tall chocolate Easter bunny waiting for me here when I get home. SOLID chocolate! I'm going to start on the ears and finish the rest of it off, tomorrow. 40 days without my favorite pastime is a little too much. My family hopes that Grandpa's going to be a lot less grumpy from now on, LOL! Yes, darlings, Grandpa certainly WILL be a lot less grumpy. Thank God that Lent doesn't come this early for another 82 years!! Heck, I've still got Christmas decorations that haven't been stored, yet.

Ray--I know about those Memorial Services. I've already requested that the music for mine is "Carmina Burana". ALL of it! When I talked about it to my Priest, he just kind of stared at me and then grinned and said, "And I'm supposed to be SURPRISED?" Franciscans are VERY cool about things like that, LOL!

Well, got to shower and change. Happy Holy Saturday all, and a very Blessed Easter to you.

Tom :D

Carmina Burana! YES! I like it! Happy Easter!

Edit: a quick story about the Carmina Burana Suite. One of the listening pieces in the 8th. Grade curriculum I used to use was O Fortuna from Carmina Burana. the first time I played for the class, I got a visit from 3 of the "Tough" kids in the class after school. Hey Mr. Howard, would you make me a copy of that Oh Fortune thing you play today. That was really cool I gotta have that... I told them I was really glad they liked it but they would have to buy a legal copy........;) Powerful, powerful!

Evening all,

Just wanted to let you know the latest. There's still problems with pain. And all of the medication make his stomach do flip flops, so he can't sit up, can't use the bathroom, can't get in a wheelchair, nothing. Poor guy! He's confined to the bed. The pain is better, but still not where they want it. It's nowhere near where my son wants it, but then, I don't think he's going to get that for a while if you know what I mean. They're going to try some different meds tomorrow and see if he can sit up then. If so then he should be able to get in his wheelchair and use the bathroom again. We'll see! Whatever the case, he'll be here on Easter. A lot of the other kids on his floor went home today so they could have Easter at home. That kind of bummed him out a little. It's not like he was hanging out with them or anything since he can't get around. It's just they they all passed by his room on the way out, and he wanted to go too. He knows that he needs to stay though in order to get back on track. (I have it on good authority that the Easter Bunny knows his situation and is adjusting plans accordingly!) The docs are saying that he'll probably be here a few more days just to make sure he's good and ready.....maybe a week. Anyways, I'm taking care of him during the day and my wife is doing the night shift. I have no idea what I'm going to do about work Monday. I'm supposed to be there, but I also have school Monday night. If I miss any more school (I've missed some this semester from the wifes surgeries) then I'll automatically fail the class I'm in, so I have to go. That means I'll be gone from 7am till 10:30pm on Monday if I do both. My wife will have no breaks. I can't do that either. Oh well, my work will just have to get over it. I'll have to take off Monday work and just go to my 4 hour class. Maybe I could go to work in the morning, the hospital in the afternoon, and then class in the evening. Oh, I don't know......

Steve, you do excellent work! Very nice conversion of the space. Very professional! Looks like your daughter agrees too!

Good Morning and a very Happy and Blessed Easter to all of you!

I will hopefully get to sit with my Family at church this morning (as opposed to running the sound) and then we will go out to a fancy Easter Brunch with my Sister in Canandaigua.

Last night I got started roughing in the Powerpoint presentation for my clinic on the Golden Spike Award in 2 weeks. So far it is coming together nicely.

Don't eat too much of that Chocolate now! My Mom always said that. We were supposed to not eat the chocolate bunnies because they were so cute. I always ate them anyway........

The Tomb is Empty!

He is Risen!

Good morning everyone!

Happy Easter!

I hope this wonderful news finds all of you well.

Don't worry, I'm not going to launch into a sermon (though I'm so excited that I could).

Getting ready to head back to the hospital. Seems a certain bunny was here last night and so I need to make a delivery!

Oh, and check this out! I flipped on the TV this morning and one of my all time favorite movies was on.....Mars Attack! Love that flick! A classic B movie spoof. Watched it for a while while I let my daughter sleep in a bit. She's been working long hours and then doing the hospital thing, so she needs the rest.

Well, the report from the hospital is looking tough. The pain levels are going down, but some new complications have risen up. (I just got the call as I was typing this.) They're working on it now. I'm hitting the door here in a few minutes. Just waiting on my daughter to get ready.

And with that, I'm gone!

Poof!

Good afternoon folks

It is bright and sunny with a temperature of 48 F on its way to 48 F. The kids have done the traditional egg hunt around the house. We just finished brunch and are just kicking back. I will have to start getting things going for dinner. Also my daughter has a bunny cake that she made last night to ice.

We had an interesting day yesterday. We drove out to Lancaster to visit a museum only to find it closed as in gone. So instead we hit the outlets at Rockvale. I saw how nice they redid the RR Museum of Pennsylvania and saw the Reading FP-7 locos sitting along side the road. No other railroading or modeling was done yesterday.

I hope everybody has a good day and a fine Easter.

Evening all
Just had my parents round for an evening meal, the wife did an enormouse leg of lamb with all the trimmings, then a nice bit of cake for dessert, very tasty stuff.
just found some nice neck wounds on the rabbit, next doors cat has gotten a bit to close today, the cats keeping out of the garden as the wabbit bit it very hard on the nose by the looks of it's war wounds, the rabbit's around 10lbs and is twice the size of the cat,,, good job it was not one of Tom's cats, they are giants compared to the skinny runt next door :).

And for the first time in weeks i have done a bit of MR building.

Later folks

Good Evening, Everyone.

Haven't died or left the earth, just been a busy week. I always mean to get in here but, after posting to a few MR threads, it seems like I always ran out of time.

Phillip, I hope yur son is doing better and enjoyed his visit from the Easter Bunny. :)

Ray, sorry about your friend but I agree about maudlin music at funerals. I think I'll have a selection of old time rock and roll hits played at mine.

Steve, nice piece of building you did there. Your daughter sure is cute and that leg of lamb sounds awfully good.

Hi, Bob, nice to see you here and hope you had an enjoyable ride on your bike.

Tom, I haven't had one of those big chocolate rabbits for years. My waistline certainly doesn't need one but I'll bet I can find one at a tempting price tomorrow.

We had a week of 24/7 prayer at our church for holy week, with at least one person at the church praying every hour. We managed to actually fill all the spots. They needed night security for the people at church so I volunteered to pull two all-nighters. Haven't done that in a few years and staying up, awake and alert all night, is a little harder as the years pass. Did have a little excitement as two guys drove into the parking lot about 2:00 am Sunday and tried to steal a Bobcat frontloader at the other end of the parking lot. They assumed there was no one at the church and were more than surprised to see me as they tried to cut off the chain locks with their bolt cutters. First time I've had to draw down on anyone in a long time but they were both cooperative until Prattville PD got there and took them into custody. There have been a rash of these thefts here since the tornado because there are so many construction sites with no security. Stealing from a church gets you a special place in Hell, though.

It was a sunny but windy Easter here. I hope you all had a enjoyable and joyous holiday with family and friends.
