Afternoon, everyone.
Chip, I understand where you're coming from given your background but Spitzer's case is not comparable. The drug companies are doing things that are still legal as far as we know. Spitzer, if the few facts of the case that we know prove to be true, is guilty of violating the Mann Act and money laundering, both federal crimes that will get you prison time. He set himself up as "Mr. Clean" and used some dubious methods to get prison terms for people when he was the attorney general. The ironic thing is that he has been involved in stings that broke up prostitution rings and had to know that his actions would eventually lead to his being outed. It's almost like "Suicide by Cop", where a person can't bring himself to do it and sets up the police to kill him. Maybe he wanted out of politics but just couldn't step away on his own. Whatever the reason, it's a sad story for a man who did some good things in his career, which is now over.
Phillip, glad to hear you for a decent night's sleep. You've been under a lot of stress lately and that will screw up your sleep pattern something fierce. You have nothing to apologize for. Stating your views in a civilized manner is why we have the Coffee Shop. I'm glad to hear your wife continues to improve and I will keep her in my prayers.
Paul, too bad you and the snowblower didn't get to have your daily fun but I'm sure more snow is on the way up there.
Tom, I hope your daughter is feeling better. Nasty virus, whatever it is.
Ray, have fun on your first trip with the new trailer. Friday and Saturday may be a little tricky in terms of severe weather so keep your weather radio handy. The last place you want to be caught in a tornado is a travel trailer so I hope they some other kind of shelter available where you're going. Dianna is the fisherperson in the house and she said that you're right about the crappies and dogwoods. That's when she always went fishing with her father. I'm afraid I'm pretty hopeless as a fisherman - there are times I swear I can hear them laughing at me from under the water.
Steve, I hope your storm is over and that your shed is still intact. Any more news on that stranded ferry?
Carl, I sure wish I had spent some more time planning my yard layout. It's stub end when, with a little more planning, I could have made it double ended. Same thing with my interchange track. It's only useful for northbound trains since I didn't put in a runaround track so trains for either direction could back into and escape from the interchange. I didn't follow a lot of the basic rules that Chip writes about in his guide for beginners. Even though I'm not really a beginner, I made a lot of dumb beginner mistakes.
Jeffery, it looks like a great day there too. I'm not sure how this Friday/Saturday event will affect you but you should start seeing some thunderstorms by Thursday night. Until then, I'll take the 70 degrees we have now and be happy.
