Wow! It is cold outside here in the Finger Lakes. Right now it is -2°F (-14° wind chill) and I'm out of wood as of the next load of the stove. Got home from a Church Camp Program Committee Meeting a couple of hours ago. One of our young members, I'm talking mid twenties, fell and broke her hip. during surgery on it they found that she has a bad case of early osteoporosis. We were floored. This is a young athletic girl just out of collage...... Not only that our camp property manager is going into the hospital next week for surgery (fairly minor we hope).

Philip glad your wife came through her surgery well and hope she will have a quick and uneventful recovery this time.

Paul and Jeffrey my eye doctor has me coming back every two years but has warned it will be more often as soon as my regular Dr. puts me on diabetes medication. So far I have been able to manage it with diet.

Stay warm!

Good morning folks

Cold, this morning. It was 17 F as I headed to work. High today should reach 37 F. We have snow moving in for later this afternoon. Or course none of the weather mis-forecasters can agree on when it will start, how much we will get, or if it will turn to rain.

No modeling last night. The kids, the wife, and I wound up trying to figure out a computer puzzle/mystery game together. It was fun but a little problematic with all four of trying to see the computer screen at once.

This weekend will be busy. Tomorrow we have Cub Scout Day at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. My daughter then has a birthday party sleepover to attend. On Sunday the kids have baseball and softball try-outs. Also I am sure we will continue the saga of trying to replace the blinds in my son’s room.

I need to figure out what project to start next. I guess I should tidy up the layout and workbench first.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning Bill , Phillip , Tom ! It's cold here in Buffalo 6 and going up to 32 but that snow Tom is talking about is suppose to sweep through here also . Got my shovel sharpened and ready .Ray that is devastating news to a young person . But nowadays they have lots of drugs that will help her. I was on Fosamax for Osteo. but my transplant doctors took me off because it was causing my kidneys to go wacky . So I guess I better watch my step. Phillip sure glad that your wife is getting better . I know around here they put knee replacement surgeries into rehab units. Hope all will be better for her this time around with the pain . Well gotta get my coffee, Oh yeah love that Leap Year Ball . Can't think about anything to do with this extra day !!!!! Take care all !!!

Happy Leap Year everyone! And a hearty Good Morning to you! It's a lovely 9°F here in the Finger Lakes so far and the high is now being predicted to get all the way up to 29°. Snow will start this afternoon with some flurries and then crescendo into a steady snow tonight and tomorrow with a poco a poco ritardando to some flurries in the afternoon. There will then be a huge sfv as I start the snow blower.

Today I will be multitasking to get the layout cleaned and ready for guests tomorrow. I also have to go over to church to set up some mics for a rehearsal on Sunday, grocery shop, stop at the Scout Office and pick up some video tapes that I need for the work I am doing for them, drive to Canandaigua to feed my sister's cat, and clean house, work on taxes, and several other things......... so I best get my coffee and get to work.

Good morning.

It's 54 here today under cloudy skies. Expecting a high of 70 with thunderstorms this afternoon.

My eye exam yesterday went well. The doc says I have some bleeding in my right eye. Says that it's as bad as it can be (scale of 1 to 4, it's a 4) on the minor side of the scale.

I've put in an order to Walther's for two Digitrax DZ125 decoders. They should be here around Tuesday.

Good Morning all!:)
Had a small Op session with a friend last night and got some of the MR spirit back. This is indeed, a great hobby.;)

We had a spring like day yesterday, so the wife and I went out looking at some camping trailers (a Brit caravan). Well, we shouldn't have as I believe we will trade-in our popup camper for a 26 footer (inside length). The pop-up is great and is a lot of fun, but we need more space/storage for longer trips. Still thinking about it, but I believe we will go that way.

Philip: Congrats to your son and a speedy recovery to your wife.

Ray, Jeffery, Rex good afternoon to you all

rex go for it, less trouble than a pop up and more comfort and room to stretch out a bit.

just got the eldest a pair of walking boots for mondays school trip, they have to dress as vikings and go to a viking camp in the wood's for the day, wish i could go.

Jim the riverdance is now totally on it's side open to the sea and tinight is going to be wild with severe gales tonight from the northwest blowing right into the bowels of the ship, a low preassure system at 969mb is heading our way from southern iceland, currently it's 1012mb Brrrrrr

Here she is like a beached whale, pic from BBSEA
look at the yellow forklift truck at the rear, there are at least four semi trailers hanging over his head Mmmmm

Afternoon, Guys.

I've been so busy the last sveral days helpinga friend with his tornado damaged home that I seem to get to some of the other areas of the fourm but miss here. I'll never catch up but I'll try and hit the highlights.

Phillip, great win in that pinewood derby for your son and I'm gad to hear your wife's second seurgery has gone well. I hope they let her come home with you today. Tell her we are all still praying for her.

Paul, Ray, and Jeffrey, I hope your eyes are OK and that the diabetes isn't causing much progrssive damage. diabetes is just one of those rotten diseases that affects almost every part of your body. :(

Ray, osteoporosis at age 24 is a really bad thing. I hope she recovers well from the fracture but the outlook for her is ominious. Terrible for a young athlete like her.

Tom, do you ever get five minutes to sit down and rest? Just reading about all the things you do makes me tired. :)

Ray, 9 degrees and snow. Tornados are bad but I think I'll still take my chances with them compared to frostbite and a snowblower that would probably suck my foot off.

Rex, unless your dead set on a trailer, check out Safari Trek motorhomes. They have a unique queen bed that goes up in the ceiling and you get the room of a 32 foot motorhome in only 24 feet of length. I've had one now for three years and been totally happy with it.

Steve, it looks the chances of refloating the ship are zero now. She'll have to be dismantled on site, along and costly procedure. Tood bad they coudln't have gotten her up again, I hate to see a ship die like that.

Coudy with a few sprinkles down here but not bad. Monday has me worried again but I'll hope for the best. Have to be over at my friend's house for a walk thorugh with the structural engineer. It appears the structure is salvageable but we'll see what he has to say.

Steve/Jim: Just got back from the Travel Trailer place. YUP! I did it. I will pick it up Tuesday. I could have got it Monday, but bad weather is expected and I don't need to be pulling it the first time in a storm:eek: . DANG, I'm excited. I will post some photos next week and tell more about it.

Jim, I would love to have another motorhome. We had a used class A, but sold it when we had bought a retirement place on the river several years ago. Too many drunks there so we sold the place and we moved back to town. I don't need another vehicle to pay insurance and all on, particularly since I bought my truck for the purpose of pulling a trailer. Maybe a few years from now and with a lottery win, we will get one. They are very nice and so danged convenient. ;) Heck with one of them and Ray's N scale car pulled behind it, I would have it made. :D

Oh, Jim I am proud of you helping your neighbors clean up. I did that a few years ago and never realized until then just how much need people have after such a storm. The one that devastated South T-town a few years ago was horrible with 11 deaths and destruction that was unreal. Many of my colleagues were totally wiped out.:)

Well, the doc gave my wife the choice on whether she wanted to stay another night in the hospital or not. She decided to sleep in her own bed tonight, so I brought her home. She's upstairs resting comfortably now. Think I'm going to go hang with her for a while.....Later!

Rex, glad you found a trailer you like and I look forward to seeing pictures of it. I probably would have bought a fifth wheel but it's a chore to handle with just one person and the Trek pulled my little 4WD drive behind it just like Ray's N scale car. :) Tuesday morning could be tricky also with the chance of some snow in the morning on the backside of Monday's storm so I'd plan on as late in the afternoon as possible.

We were so lucky that that same tornado came over our neighborhood but the funnel had lifted and then touched back down in his neighborhood. The walk through with the engineer went fine and we both agreed the house is salvageable. The engineer will green tag the house so contractors can get to work on the roof. They are working 7 days a week here so I'm hoping it will be weathertight before Monday.

Thanks for the compliment, Rex, but it's really the whole community pitching in and I'm just a little part of it. This is really the true spirit of the South. We may not be able to get everyday thngs done right or on time but, when there's a disaster, everyone gets involved and there's no one that doesn't have help. In California, we'd still be sitting on the curb waiting for FEMA to tell us what to do. My friend's house is the ony one in his neighborhood that doesn't have to be demolished and even people with no homes left were there helping out. It's going to be very sad living there with no houses and no trees within 600 feet of his home. (: While it's sobering to realize how much people have lost, it also increases my sense of gratitude as to how much I have and that makes me happy to help those who were not as fortunate as me.

Phillip, that's great that your wife is home and resting comfortably. I'll keep praying for a smooth and fast recovery.

Rain chances have pretty much evaporated tonight as the front is falling apart. The Monday storm is looking more and more concerning. Not only do we have a better than even threat of severe storms and more tornados, the wrap around cold air behind the front will even give us a chance of some light snow on Tuesday morning. It has been a stange winter in Dixie so far.

Good Morning Bill & Jeffrey ! I'll have a healthy dose of cough medocine . Everyone in my house and family have been sick so I guess it was inevitable. Oh well just have to fight it and sweat it out. Rex look out you have the bug back . I remeber when I started out in a tent . Well two pop -ups later I ended up in a twenty-two foot Shasta . Bought it used back in 1981 it was a 78 and had it untill 1994 but then my health became too much to haul it around so I sold it . And you know it is still in use have seen it on some of my local trips around. Phillip sure glad that to hear that your wife is hmoe. my prayers also for her spdeey recovery . Jim sad to see a neighborhood torn apart . Just hope that it will be rebuilt as fast as possible. Steve looks like the cutters will be tearing that monster up. Sure a shame to see it cut up. juts another lesson on how cruel the oceans can be at times. Well got to go shovel some more snaow and hopefully sweat out this cold . Jeffrey hope that the bleeding can be stopped . Is the doctor going to operate ? Or let it heal on it's own ? Good luck either way ! Have a real nice Saturday and First day of March !!

You know how they say you don't always know how bad off you are just by the way you feel? I felt pretty good this morning but a blood sugar check revealed that my blood sugar level was 54. Way too low! So I threw together a couple of chicken salad sandwiches on jalapeno and cheese bread. That should get it back up.

sounds tasty Jeffery, i'll have one of those
Paul When you think it was listing at 60 degrees 12 miles off shore and she was blown all the way to the shore line like that without any loss of life it's amazing realy.
