Hi gang,

Didn't spend any time online today, but [yes Steve] I got a new set of nippers and the old ones did not magically reappear when I returned home from the LHS. Ripped out all the old #4's, now the fun part begins. But first I'm going to solder the wire leads to the different sections of each turnout - much easier to do when I can hold it in my hand, than when it is cemented to the roadbed!

Ray We're having a drought in my part of Maryland, they kept saying it's going to rain but so far, all talk but no action. That didn't stop me from doing some of my own indoors 'yard work' though <LOL> At least if earnesto plows thru here Saturday that should be good for about 10 inches...

Rex/GM/William - looks like you guys had some pretty good downpours in your region.

Steve I know what you mean about those physical inventories, they are b-o-r-i-n-g:rolleyes:

Bedtime 4me, 5:00am comes mighty early, g'nite!

L_R when are you going to take a little ride to Central Indiana??? I am waiting with baited breath. LOL LOL

Hi Gang! With KenL doing so much talking about redoing his yard, I finally got the courage to go ahead and tear out my yard on the new extension. Yeah, it seems that my orginal plan (idea) for this area has changed so much that I needed to redesign it before I crossed the line of no return.

Although the operation of the yard was smooth as silk, I needed to add another passenger track w/escape for the now, "Grand Central" station and modify the throat of the yard to include access to some of the industry sites. Another feature I hope to build-in will be a passing siding just before exiting the area. Hopefully, this will finally finish up the main track work in this area and allow me to run the industrial trackage. I have only been fussing with this for 2 months trying to decide what to do:confused:  :D .

KenL: Nope! We didn't get enough rain to dryout the sidewalk. They got 2" about 15 mile South of here. To give you some idea, I have cut our grass 3 times since May.:(

Steve:yeah,yeah,yeah!
BTW: The English got taken out of American football when a 350 pound lineman fell on the ball an made it oblong.:D :D

William: Bama finished 8th in the nation last year. I know...we didn't beat Auburn, but that was because our boys weren't used to stepping in cow piles. :D

Ray: You're on a roll Ray. Only 40 more to go.:D

SO yeah, um, well it seems if you bid on something on eBay and decide you don't want it, then just tell ebay you didn't bid! The buyer of that camera skipped out on me today, after I emailed asking where the payment was, and then eBay pulled the listing, so now I have to re-list it! I wish they could have JUST had it IN them to ASK me the send a secound chance offer, I would have sold it for a dollar less! GRRRRR now I have to wait ANOTHER week, good thing I didn't buy that Tower 55 unti yet.

Good morning ! from Indiana. :D

Mornin' Bill!

Rex, I spent the entire evening working on one turnout. The turnout was placed right over the L-girder under the layout. Although I could have just sqeezed the torti in there, I would not have been able to screw it in place. So I made up a homemade rigging to be able to place the torti to one side of the L-girder. First try I used the weak little wire that comes with unit to throw the turnout. Removed the assembly, upgraded to a .032 piano wire. This attaches to a piece of old rail that has the wire soldered onto it and goes up to the switch points. Now the danged thing rides up into the switch every time it is trown. Easy solution will be a shim placed between the subroadbed and the rail to limit movement. I Gooed the wire to the switchpoint bar last night before I called it quits...........

Morning everyone. Flo, a strong coffee please.

Josh, Nice pics.

Good luck with ebay. We've had them do similar things to us. I don't know why in the world they don't give you a a day to offer a second chance to the next highest bidder instead of nuking your listing. Doesn't make since...

Ray, Glad you got GE up and running. I hope you didn't look at my yard. I'm waiting to cut it after the first freeze so that I only have to do it one more time this year. :D

LEG: Be careful what you ask for. :D We've overdue for a trip to the lovely midwest --- haven't even seen the kids' "new" house yet, and we also have friends in Indianapolis with a new baby we'd like to meet.

JOSH: Lots going on along the coast also --- piles and piles of ballast in the Leucadia area on Monday.

Ray, I ran into the same thing with one of mine awhile back. After some very fancy bends in the wire, I made the test and the turnout would work great except for about a 3/8" wire sticking up in one direction. I even bought Circuitron's remote setup thingy, but the directions scared me so bad  that it remained in the bag:o . Finally I bit the bullet and cut the joist and reframed around this area, giving me plenty of room. Gads, what a job! What a back ache!:D

Hey Rex! I finally got it working... I placed a shim under the piece of rail that I used as an extention of the machine which kept it running in place and it now works perfectly. What really scares me about some of the prebuilt stuff isn't the directions but rather the price.. Besides it is way more fun to build it myself. I'll take a photo of the assembly and post it tomorrow.

Yea! Way to go, Ray. I know what you mean about figuring it out and making it work by yourself. There is so much more satisfaction that way. After all, that is a sign of a true craftsman. ;)

A photo would be welcomed. I probably will back myself in a corner again someday and will need the idea.:)

Allready got a bid on the camera, so I know its gonna sell & I'll get some cash for it. Just have to wait to see how much!
