Ray: They say good fences make for good neighbours, How about Great Distances make for Great Neighbours! Take a hint!!!!;) My garden is in a shambles and the dog is a digger:( oh the poor impatients, Oh the horror:eek:

Grass lots of green green grass, don't need no stink'n mower, heck no! Need a flock of sheep! Though I did find why the mower was having problems... So I went out and bought a hand grinder and put a real nice shine on the rounded edge Doh!

Ray: I think this is the year of the TALL GRASS! As for the trees they are Emerald cedars. Fast growing and narrow. And yes how it has rained!

Rex: Car in the garage? Like that's going to happen... NOT! In Nova Scotia

Garage=Storage Shed.

On a sadder note I don't know if any of you bought from Papa Bens in Houston but I found out the owner passed away Sunday

I talked to Bob Stevens (Teffy) this evening and he was quite shocked.

Sorry to be the harbinger of sad news.

Good Morning All

It's not even 8am and I'm sticking to the chair.

Ray... The problem with going to sea is the week when yo you get off. four days of shell shock as the body tries to catch up on lost sleep and then 4 more days of weeding! I don't know what got into the flower beds this past year but invasive as all get out and hard if not impossible to kill. We are not allowed to use herbicides here due to by-laws. So I went out and bought a garden torch that uses propane and a blue flame to kill those nasty things. The jury will be out for another week.

Anyway must run!

Mornin' Bill!

Fergie, I hear ya! Around this neck of the woods, we have several kinds of Morning Glory that are next to impossible to get rid of. Even herbicides don't get the whole plant. Every time you go out and weed, you break off the root and create more plants. It will grow a foot in one day given good weather. My sister thinks its terrible that I want to get rid such a pretty flower (she cultivates it on her property). This stuff will kill most anything that it climbs on, so it is a constant project.

Yesterday we got a thunderstorm that dumped about an inch of rain here in 20 minutes. There was about a foot of water over the storm sewer in front of my house. The new gutters on my house couldn't handle the amount of rain and were overflowing while the downspout was throwing water 2 to 3 foot in the air before it hit the ground. It is already 80° outside and I have to finish my lawn (or buy sheep, like Fergie) and weed my vegetable garden today.......

I'd love to build a fence around my place to keep the weeds out and the garbage out of sight! Yes the neighbour to the back of us is piling everything including a sink behind his shed. Nice enough guy but...

Sorry, the fence won't keep weeds out.:( Here in the Finger Lakes, we got laws about where you can pile stuff. Can't put up a fence that is over 6' high and then it takes several months and an appearance at the zoning board to get approval. Come to think of it you probably have the same laws....... ;) I do my best to at least keep the property clean and neat. I used to live in a village that had little regulation of what people did with their property. Every street you drove down would be: Neat, neat, junk yard, neat, beautiful, garbage pile, rodent breeding ground, neat, etc. Glad I live where I do. Yep, good neighbors are good to have. Especially if you can only build a 6' fence.....

ray the rain's a pain at present, it's either throwing it down like an hour ago or there's none, it was the same here, the noise on the roof at work was tremendous, everyone was stood by the door watching in awe

Ray, at least you don't have kudsu climbing all over everything. Several years ago, I had a place in the country that had about 3 of my acres covered with it and it was starting to attack my woods. I bought a pair of goats that turned into 4 and before long, had it cut down to the dirt. Of course this was only temporary, but it gave me time to disk it up with a tractor and then keep it bushhogged down. BTW: The goats were transported to another owner after the billy butted my wife in the...yup!:D :D

Nasty stuff and grows fast I hear! So your wife thought the goats were a pain in the ...? Probably the worst stuff we have to contend with in the Northeast US is Giant Hogweed. It was actually brought in as an ornamental back in 1917 and is now growing wild. "Heracleum mantegazzianum can outcompete species for habitat, especially in riparian zones. It causes an increase in soil erosion. This plant is on the federal noxious weed list because of its poisonous sap. Its sap can cause the skin to become very sensitive to UV radiation, causing blistering and severe burns. Caution should be taken when handling this weed. Thus, removing it manually becomes very difficult." I know of folks that have handled this without knowing what it is and have had to be hospitalized. Mowing crews along the highways in our county have gotten into it with bad results also.

Hi Guys, Don't post much but I just had to weed in on this topic. My garden has been overun by this ground cover that got in from my neighbors . It roots all over the place and no matter how you attack it just a little piece will start it all over again. Dreaded neighbors .Should move to some exotic Island all by ourselves . Have a great day ! OLDGETTSK

Duties of Wives

three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given

their new wives duties.

Terry had married a woman from America, and bragged that he had told

his wife she needed to do all the dishes and housework. He said that it

took

a couple days but on the third day he came home to a clean house and

the dishes were all washed and put away.

Jimmie had married a woman from Canada. He bragged that he had given

his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes, and the

cooking. He told them that the first day he didn't see any results,

but the next day it was better. By the third day, his house was clean,

the dishes were done, and he had a huge dinner on the table.

The third man had married an Australian girl. He boasted that he told

her that her duties were to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed,

laundry and ironing twice a week, lawns mowed, windows cleaned and

hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn't

see

anything, the second day he didn't see anything, but by the third day

most of the swelling had gone down:eek: and he could see a little out of

his left eye.

Enough to fix himself a bite to eat, load the dishwasher, and call a

handyman.

God Bless Australian Women .
