Anyone for Jellie, i got a gallon on the cooker boiling away, should be ready soon Mmmmmmmm

,Morning bill, Morning Ray.

Mornin' Yall!

Flo' I'll take what ever the special is. Just gimme a great big cuppa Joe with it and I'm happy.

Been in the basement this mornin' replacing the timer on the dryer.:)

We've had this dryer for more than 30yrs and its the same one.
Lessee, replaced the motor, drive belt, heatin' unit, pullies, tumbler and the on switch thru the years, but its the same dryer!:D

I'm afixin' (thats Southern for "I intend to...);) to head over to a friend's house and hook up his new DCC set. He's had my command station and throttle, for a couple of weeks testing the setup. And , no it didn't blow up. He ordered the Super Chief with DCS200 and the DT400 throttle.:D Only paid 335 plus shipping from First Place Hobbies in Indiana. Good deal! Our LHS has the same thing for 379 but I think I'll order a new one from them.;)

Well thanx for the food there Flo.

Steve, I would love to have some of your jellie. The dr. says I'm on a C-food diet. All the food I see, I eat!!;):D (and I look it too!)

I have no doubt!;) But for $44 less you can get the DT400 and the 8amp DCS200 instead of the 5amp DCS100. Scott said shipping was less than expected and setup was a snap of course. I "donated" several decoders for his use until his new ones come in.:D

I'm gonna see if I can talk Scott into hosting the ARG for a Sat. soon.:p He hasn't done much on his layout in a while, and I think his DCC may be the "push" to get him going strong again.;)

Carey I have a Super Empire Builder in the box awaiting instalation so after you get Scott's runnin the ARG can help me get mine hooked up and goin. I have only had mine about 18 months and I am sure that would get me fired up and working on my RR again.

Mornin all
Carey RE Dryers:
they don't make em like they used to do they,
i just moved the washer and dryer into the new extension last night then i went over the carpets with the wash and vac machine.
I'v been studying dozens of old MR mag's for plan ideas for the new and improved layout, got some good ideas just got to get them on 3rdPlanit now

Mornin' Bill!

Well everybody, in less than an hour I will be heading out to Boy Scout camp for the week. I am the "Computer Specialist" for the week. (Me, the Applehead of the council...... Using PCs all week..... Go Figure....) This is not a standard Boy Scout Camping week that I am working with, but rather the pilot for our Science and Tech camp. One of our State Senators just got us a $400,000 grant to build a Science and Technology building. Hopefully it will be up and running for next year. This building will be a resource for several different youth organizations and will help to interest and teach state of the art modules in everything from environmental sciences to Computer and electronics to students aged 14 to 21. This week we will be going to Cornell University to see first hand the Nano Technology Center and the NASA Mars Rover Project.

I may have a chance to teach kids how to solder, so I brought some stuff I will need to get done on the layout for them to practice on.....

I will check in from time to time as I will have Internet access out there.

Hey, hey, hey! I'm all set up and online at camp. I think this is going to be a great first week for Science and Technology Camp. Wish us luck!

Mornin' Bill and gang,

Figured I probably ought to check in since it's ben awhile...

I've been out of sorts lately. Ever since I got back from my out-of-town trip, I haven't done any MRR. Interest has waned for a few reasons: (1) I was hyper-focused on it preparing for that Philly presentation and needed to decompress, and (2) I'm more broke than I anticipated I would be at this time. I even avoided visiting the forums [here and across the street] for awhile because I couldn't handle the pain of seeing everybody convert their loco fleets to sound [I'd have to take out a 2nd mortgage to do that] - so my roster will still be obsolete even after I install plain-jane decoders in them!

So instead of visiting forums, I went to some of my favorite [read: trusted] news websites to kill time. BIG mistake! Some of the gloom-n-doom in those places got me so upset that it's even affected my ability to get a decent night's sleep! I've concluded that I need to force myself to do something - anything - train-related, to get my mind of this other crap that I have no control over anyway. I'll start by installing metal wheelsets on my freightcars that need them; this at least will help me keep my track clean so I can actually start using DCC. And more importantly it'll keep me away from those anxiety-breeding thoughts and websites.

Sorry about the ramblin'....:o

Good morning Ken and everyone!
I guess folks here in T-town have started living right; we got 1.5 inches of rain yesterday in about 3 hours. Looks like I will have to cut grass for the third time this summer:D . (Normal would be cutting every week.)

KenL: Sounds like your Rest&Recoop has charged your battery and you are now ready and roaring to get at it. I had to do the same about a month ago. My problem was trying to do too much at the same time which ended up with little being done and a lot of frustration. Now it is slow go;).

Ray: Glad to hear that you are helping out the Boy Scouts. I will always believe that the ethics I learned while in scouting have helped me through life. It is great that the Boy Scouts are keeping up with the times, but I hope they will still concentrate on the basics of old scouting and stay focused on their pledge.

Carey: Darn Carey, with all that new money you should have immediately gone out and bought one of those super high tech, talk-to-ya, programmable, $1500 dryers:eek: :D

I hope all will have a good week at both work and fun.

Even though I make my living working on the different components for those big jets...............I think I'll stay on the ground. ;)

Stan.

That sentiment would be even stronger if you knew some of the yahoos flying around in jet airplanes that I've met over the last 20 years!!!

Well, I would.....except I hear those things are about as easy to program as programming the time on a VCR. I've had 3 VCRs and ain't figgered it out yet!:p

Hello all
Ken L get it out Ken you'll feel better for it.
Rex Carey i'v only cut my grass twice this year but now it's persisting down on the sun baked golden strands of burnt lawn i recon the mower will be out soon, if i can remember where it is.
Why pay for a new laundry dryer, if i could figure out how to get all the hot air from out of our telephone when the CFO's on i bet it would power a fleet of dryers, heck,,,here she comes.

almost forgot

Fergie The Sea song's CD came today,,, what can i say apart from fantastic, i'll have to get you a copy for your trips

Rex, Thank You! Yes the Scout Oath and Law govern our every action. (Well we try, anyway.) Still a great program, and I am very proud of the young men who were in my troop when I was a Scoutmaster. It is good to back out here working with a co-ed Science and Tech camp. Some really fun kids are in it this week.

Mornin, (er - afternoon), Bill!

Steve, we have had twice the normal amout of rain here in the Finger Lakes, and I am still cutting the lawn a couple times a week. Hot (may be over 100 here tomorrow), humid, and wet! I will try to post a couple photos of our "fun" at camp here tonight for those who are interested.

BTW, we just saw some slides of Railroad Truss Bridges as a part of the Engineering section of the camp. The campers then had to build bridges with plastic straws and paperclips.
