Morning all.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and prayers concerning the floods, the water crested yesterday with a new record 6' higher than the one set in 1999 and started falling shortly after. According to NOAA it has already dropped about 4.5' so the speed of the retreat of the water is comforting in some ways. Unfortunately there are still cities and towns downstream that will have to deal with it all. Hopefully they are as prepared as possible.

Good morning folks

It was a pleasant 74 F as I hit the pavement this morning. High will be 87 F on this the last day of school for my kids.

I didn’t make it here yesterday. It was one of those days. I got to work and found the power out. We lasted about 3 hours with no power before they sent us home. The storms that broke the heatwave Tuesday skirted us in lower Delaware County but elsewhere in the Delaware valley they hit hard. Montgomery County where my office is located had a lot of trees and power lines down.

Yesterday was also my daughter’s award ceremony at school. She received the Character Award for Responsibility. Her brother received the Academic Excellence Award for the 4th Grade the day before.

Later in the evening we took the camping stuff that has been in my van back to the church and put it away in the scout closet. My wife also moved her supplies from her den room’s unlocked closet to the scout closet. Unfortunately it seems if you don’t do that things walk during the summer.

No modeling last night.

Today I have to take the van and get two new front tires in preparation for our trip to Maine next week. We will be driving up to Maine and staying for 4 days and then heading to the White Mountains for a night and then home.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Remember what I said about Murphy's law? The Lowe's delivery truck showed at 9:45! It wasn't due until mid-afternoon. So I got my new fridge about six hours early. Some good news! The truck driver bought my old computer main-board and display card for thirty bucks. GAS MONEY!

Mornin' Everyone!

I have been trying to clean house and catch some of the breaking news on the tornado at the Boy Scout Camp. That is a Camp Directors worst nightmare! There is a video on the Weather Channel on line that has good coverage. http://www.weather.com

Jeffrey congrats on getting the fridge early! Hope it is an Energy Star one. If not all the new models use less power than any of them from 15 years ago. I bought a new Energy Star compliant one last fall. It uses about 1/3 of the power that my old one did, and that one was the most efficient one I could get back when it was new. You should see some savings in your electric bill (your air conditioner will have to work less as well....)

I have to meet with the director of the music camp I direct to choose the music.... Should have been done a month ago. Then get over to school for a rehearsal (I hope). Play is this weekend and we haven't been able to completely run the play with sound yet....... I also have to clean house!!! Granddaughter's first birthday is Sunday but the party is Saturday.

Have a safe and great day!

Got up today got ready to go to work, and my who family was struck down by food poising!  I could go into gory details, but I'll let it go! Man I never felt this bad:( :( No tomatos here, I think it was the sausage we ate last nite for dinner hard to tell what took out my family:confused: Man I'm feeling like crap!

On a good note, a possible new client called me from New York:D to Take care of their house down here they have up for sale and a Gated community to boot:D :) It's a small yard with a huge house on it not a big $$ job but a Job! take what i can get>>>>>>>

Ray: Agnes is the one I remember...just didn't have all the facts still in memory:o :D .

Jeffrey: I always add instructions to Lowes delivery for the driver to call when he is on the way. Still doesn't work everytime though:rolleyes: .

Chris: Dang, man that is some baaaaad stuff to get. I only had it once and it was because of oysters. It was ten years before I could eat them again. Glad you are picking up extra work.

Jim: Chances are fair to midland of getting some more showers the rest of the week. I hate the steambath afterwards (like this morning), but we need it so bad I won't complain a bit;) :) .

Hang in there Chris food poisoning is bad ass stuff, never in my life do i want to live through that again, you have my sympathy.

Went into work today to find out one of our young lads was in hospital, his dad slit his throat because he tried to stop him beating up his wife, poor guys in a very bad way, the coming hours are critical to him, his dads in jail.

Morning, everyone.

Rex, it's 86 degrees with a dewpoint of 75 right now. That equals 70% humidity. Who needs a sauna when you live in Alabama. More rain looks like a pretty good bet and I'll take whatever we can get.

Ray, I've been following the tragedy at the Boy Scout camp also. I know we don't have all the details yet but there are some troubling aspects to this. The weather service issued a tornado warning for the area of the camp 12 minutes before the tornado hit. Did no one at the camp have a weather radio and was anyone monitoring it? There were severe storm and tornado watches out all day in the area. It also seems that the camp either didn't have an adequate tornado shelter or the leaders didn't move the kids into it fast enough. From news reports, some kids were in their tents and some were out hiking when the tornado hit. There is apparently a tornado siren at the camp but it wasn't activated. The nearest town lost their sirens within a minute because the power went out. That's why you have emergency generators for critical equipment. It sounds like the scouts and leaders did a good job of tending to the injured until the first responders arrived but there seems to have been some real gaps in the disaster planning there.

Chris, sorry to hear you and the family have food poisoning. Hopefully it will go away by tomorrow. But, I'm glad to hear you're getting at least some rain and some jobs.

Tom, sounds like you had a rough day too. I'm glad the brunt of the storms missed you. Congrats to your son and daughter.

Jeffrey, sounds like a pretty good deal. You didn't have to wait all day for the delivery guys and you made some money in the process. :)

Carl, glad to hear things are taking a turn for the better in your neck of the woods. Folks downstream still have to deal with a lot of water coming their way though. :(

Starting to see a few showers pop up on radar already so we'll see what the rest of the day brings. Unfortunately, looks like out best chances for rain is tomorrow, when we're going to a Biscuits game. I hope we don't get a rainout.

Thank's for your sympthy!

This sickness hurts!!:( :( We feel like we have been mule kicked over and over. The body pain that goes with this I wouldn't wish it on anyone!:( all our brains want to leave our skulls!lol's once again, Thanks guys for caring:) makes us feel better:)

The rain is starting to line up on the east coast, now lets see if it heads this way! If I felt better I'd wash my truck then go for a drive.......It always rains when i do that!!

Check out these instructions, must be in Chingalish laungage, number 10's easy enough but the last one... hey they forgot to put the tracks on,,, Dohhhhh

Joash, if you have a chance for the police officer position, take it, especially if it's something you always wanted to do. Once complete the academy and get your POST certificate, you can get on with any police department in California. The pay is really good now. I know that LASO starts deputies right out of the academy at $60,000 a year and you can easily make $80,000 a year with overtime. It's a great career for a young, single guy. I really enjoyed it for the time I was a full-timer.
The pay is good, if you don't work for the City of San Diego.

$40k a year for the first 6 months on base, then it goes up to $42K I think. Not a bad deal either, as the work on base is a whole lot less stressful then in town.

Steve,

That Tank screams for a Brushless motor and ESC set up along with twin Li-ion battery packs! you'll have the only FAST ATTACK TANK in the UK:eek:

Jim,

there's a big storm cell NE of us in Brooksville! I hope it drifts my way.....I'm Praying hard!

Rex: I did leave instructions for him to call first, as well as turn by turn directions. I was expecting his call this afternoon. He called at 7:30 am!

It's a 9.7 cubic foot model and is estimated to cost $32 a year a operate. Not bad for a frost-free type. My old one cost about $70 a year to operate.

We got 1/4" of rain this evening! It's About Time..............

We're slowly feeling better, I ate some PB&J and it stayed in! I'll try to go to work tomarrow.....again!

Josh, have you ever gave corrections officer a thought? My two brothers-in-law thats what they do! My oldest brother in law works in the FED.pen in Mississippi and the other work for a county clink down here! Both of them get paided really well!

Hi All ! Just a quick peak in . Lots of water in the Mid-West and it doesn't lool like it's gonna get any better soon. Hope that it doesn't cause to much more damage . Jim & Ray ,Anges caused a lot of damage right along the water ways into the bay and ruined the oyster beds for a while . My wife's family all got flooded out in Wikes-Barre , P.A. .That spring there was a lot of run off from up in the mountains that contributed to the floods . My prayers go out to the 4 boyscouts and their families that died in the tornado .May their parents find solace in the Lord's Arms ! Good night to you all !

Hopefully, I can do all this with out any problems from the food poising! I ate some, but i'm afraid of pushing it to far. so I'm just drinking water and pedialite. that should help me along. Good morning all.

We were able to get out to my Mother-in-law's house flood ravaged house last night...not pretty. The water was about 5' deep on the main floor and the basement is still full to the ceiling so the whole house is probably ruined. She's actually taking it pretty well, all things considered.

We are leaving for Branson, MO this morning for a family reunion and some "away from home time" which I think that my wife and I both need. I'm taking my bicycle with me for a bit of my own little away time, helps me clear my head. Should be back late Monday night, hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good morning folks! Boy am I glad that I don't live in a flood plain or next to a river! It may be time to find Noah!

It's amazing how little time I have these days. At my old store, I would sit on the computer and chat with you fine folks. Then I closed the store and had even more time. Now I have very little time for anything else. It also has to do with the fact that we moved back to our home town. Now there is no lack of invitations for cook outs and other family activities.

I am moving closer to starting my layout. The size I get to use has evolved a few times, so it's been hard to pin down what I could do. I'm pretty sure that the latest negotiated space is secure! I started adding up how many turnouts I'll need for this thing. I'm over twenty as we speak, and I'm hoping to use Peco. There goes the rest of my budget. Oh well, I don't need to build the entire thing in one week. I just won't be able to run trains in a circle for a while. That's a difficult thing for a roundy rounder! If you have a chance, please check out my thread for the latest plan. I appreciate any and all ideas.

Have a good day!
