Morning, everyone.
Not, I'm not MIA, just sideline by bunco. I don't know if any of your wives play this game but 12 women come over to the house to eat and then engage in some kind of silliness for two hours. Last night wasn't a problem, I just went down to the layout and started to install my traffic lights after hanging around Home Depot for awhile. The problem was the three days leading up to this, where I had to weed, mow, trim trees, plant all new flowers on the deck, help clean the inside of the house and, yesterday, repaint the entryway and door. Geez, I thought they were coming over to play a game but it's apparently a home inspection.

Thank goodness she only has to host this thing once a year.
Tom, sounds like a not too fun time camping in that heat. I know I wouldn't think of tent camping here right now.
Paul, send us down some of that rain although I hope your storms don't get too severe.
Alco, that is the nicest pair of...umm...Alco's I've ever seen. You don't suppose the display stand is included, do you?
Jeffrey, glad your eye appointment went better than expected and I hope those foot sores heal up faster for you. I haven't had pumpernickel bread in a long time and know if you've given me a taste for it again.
Chris, looks like Florida still has a fair amount of offshore instability so I hope you get some more rain. That sucks about having to drive even more miles but the upside is that you've at least still got a job.
Josh, you want to be a COP?! LOL, I don't know why, but that's just not what I pictured from you. Do you have to go through the federal police academy or does the military have their own academies? It's a good job if you can stand the hours and the stress. It kind of stinks once you get married so the time to start is when you're single. Good luck with the process if that's what you decide on.
Rex, beat you, we got .08 inches from one little shower that was right over our house. Literally. A friend a mile away got nothing. The high was still 101 after an overnight low of 75. The "coolest" we've had this month was 99.3 on the first. It's been 100 or higher the rest of the month.
CJ, we are still almost 11 inches below normal for this year and about 19 inches for the past two years. It is really impossible to make this up without a decent tropical storm, maybe even tow. I'm not wish for some devastating hurricane, just a nice tropical storm with lots of moisture that gets to Alabama this year. There's a decent cold pool over us today and lots of old outflow boundaries from yesterday's storms so I'm hoping we'll at least get some more showers today.
Larry, there's a saying in Spanish that roughly translates into "What you do once a year won't kill you". So go ahead and splurge on that peanut but and pumpernickel.
Steve, that's sad to hear about the police officer getting killed in training. We've had that same thing happen, when everyone was supposed to be using blanks but one guy missed a live round. I'm assuming this was one of your armed response units. The British police don't have as much experience as we do in these kind of exercises and screwing them up like this. We finally went to specially made Glocks that were painted orange and could only chamber blank training rounds because of just this type of accident. We had to leave our regular sidearms and all of our ammunition in lockers before we were allowed out into the combat simulation range.
Shoot, probably missed some other interesting things but I've got to see what else is happening. Maybe I'll see if there are any more Alcos for sale on e-bay.
