Well, the doc at the Alexandria Eye and Laser Center didn't get to play with his laser today, at least not on my eyes. The swelling that was present in them three months ago has greatly reduced since the original laser treatment. The bleeding at the back of the eyes has been reduced considerably as well. This is mostly due to me being very careful about what I eat. Some foods that are good for others are not so good for me. Wheat bread is one example. One slice of wheat bread will blow my blood sugar level through the roof! It's at the top of the glycemic index for bread. White is next down on the list followed by rye, then sourdough and finally Pumpernickel, at the bottom of the index. I've developed quite a taste for German style Pumpernickel bread.

Jeffery Pumpernickel bread is the best. I have always liked it especially hot toasted with peanut butter on it a real yummie for me. Now being a diabetic that is outlawed but I still splurge every once in a great while.

we gots some more rain! again another 15 mins and 1/10" of rain. ain't much but I'll take it. Now Tampa got nailed, and even got pea size hail. hears the video clip! http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/myfox/...189&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=9.1.1 Man that's wild!

Sounds like you're going thru what we've been involved with the past few years.

Our area is actually 2.5" ahead of our normal rainfall, but according to one of our meteorologists, we are still behind on our rainfall for the past few years.

Here's what one of our former NWS severe weather forcasters, Brian Peters, had to say.

"We are certainly much better off this year than last year, but until we have several years of above average rainfall, it is going to be tough to say that we are out of the drought. Once you get more than 2 feet down, it’s hard to come back with just slightly above average rainfall even for several months."

Yea! We got 0.02" of rain this evening. Gosh, what to do with it all:rolleyes: :D .

Chris: You are right. We need to get down your direction sometime. We have been going to the panhandle (PC, Destin, Ft.Walton) and just never went on down into snowbird country:D .

Well, some sad news today. We lost our competitive bid (A76) process. My fuels job will be handed over to an outside contractor this winter. I'm going to have to make a job switch now.

On the plus side, they're hiring police officers for EVERY base. I'd go from a WG (Wage Grade) to a GS (Government Salary) position, with better benefits.

Gotta head out later to see the foot doc again. The wounds are slowly healing up but not fast enough to suit me. I'd like this business to be over with so I can get sized up for a new pair of shoes.

Good morning folks

It was 83 F as I rolled out of the driveway. High today will be 99 F. Yesterday it reached 97 F. We have a chance of thunderstorms tonight. These should break our current heatwave.

No modeling last night. It was too hot and I am still recovering from the weekend camping trip. We spent some time sorting stuff to go back to the scout closet. Tonight we have the Cub Scout District Program Launch to attend.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning, everyone.

Not, I'm not MIA, just sideline by bunco. I don't know if any of your wives play this game but 12 women come over to the house to eat and then engage in some kind of silliness for two hours. Last night wasn't a problem, I just went down to the layout and started to install my traffic lights after hanging around Home Depot for awhile. The problem was the three days leading up to this, where I had to weed, mow, trim trees, plant all new flowers on the deck, help clean the inside of the house and, yesterday, repaint the entryway and door. Geez, I thought they were coming over to play a game but it's apparently a home inspection. :) Thank goodness she only has to host this thing once a year.

Tom, sounds like a not too fun time camping in that heat. I know I wouldn't think of tent camping here right now.

Paul, send us down some of that rain although I hope your storms don't get too severe.

Alco, that is the nicest pair of...umm...Alco's I've ever seen. You don't suppose the display stand is included, do you? :)

Jeffrey, glad your eye appointment went better than expected and I hope those foot sores heal up faster for you. I haven't had pumpernickel bread in a long time and know if you've given me a taste for it again.

Chris, looks like Florida still has a fair amount of offshore instability so I hope you get some more rain. That sucks about having to drive even more miles but the upside is that you've at least still got a job.

Josh, you want to be a COP?! LOL, I don't know why, but that's just not what I pictured from you. Do you have to go through the federal police academy or does the military have their own academies? It's a good job if you can stand the hours and the stress. It kind of stinks once you get married so the time to start is when you're single. Good luck with the process if that's what you decide on.

Rex, beat you, we got .08 inches from one little shower that was right over our house. Literally. A friend a mile away got nothing. The high was still 101 after an overnight low of 75. The "coolest" we've had this month was 99.3 on the first. It's been 100 or higher the rest of the month.

CJ, we are still almost 11 inches below normal for this year and about 19 inches for the past two years. It is really impossible to make this up without a decent tropical storm, maybe even tow. I'm not wish for some devastating hurricane, just a nice tropical storm with lots of moisture that gets to Alabama this year. There's a decent cold pool over us today and lots of old outflow boundaries from yesterday's storms so I'm hoping we'll at least get some more showers today.

Larry, there's a saying in Spanish that roughly translates into "What you do once a year won't kill you". So go ahead and splurge on that peanut but and pumpernickel. :D

Steve, that's sad to hear about the police officer getting killed in training. We've had that same thing happen, when everyone was supposed to be using blanks but one guy missed a live round. I'm assuming this was one of your armed response units. The British police don't have as much experience as we do in these kind of exercises and screwing them up like this. We finally went to specially made Glocks that were painted orange and could only chamber blank training rounds because of just this type of accident. We had to leave our regular sidearms and all of our ammunition in lockers before we were allowed out into the combat simulation range.

Shoot, probably missed some other interesting things but I've got to see what else is happening. Maybe I'll see if there are any more Alcos for sale on e-bay. ;)

jim i guess it all went a bit wrong, he didn't have any body Armour on like he should have, it was a hot day, no excuse. still no closer to what actually happened though, must have been a negligent discharge, the plot thickens.

I gots a little more rain today!

:D Came home today from work and found wet stuff on the street and sidewalk! I looked at the rain gauge and found traces of rain again! looks to be a trend starting here hope we get some more rain this evening!

yes, your right Jim! I still have a job that can be a sunny way of looking at it I guess:) but at the current price of gas I spend $120 a week to go to work now, and if they transfer me to Sam W Pasco Park thats another $120 in the tank a week Plus wear and tear on the truck:eek:. My note pad is getting pretty full and i'm getting ready to start using the red pen soon if gas price bubble doesn't pop soon!! I'm ready to drill through the heads of carabo, poler bears, seals, lame little fish and any other little animals that gets in my way!LOL's:rolleyes: :p

Jim latest is he was in a moving vehicle, he was playing a passenger in a bandit vihicle, they shot a live CS gas round at it which should have gone into the car but they hit him in the chest, he was supposed to have body armour on but didn't for whatever reason

Evening everyone!

I have been away all day. Went South of Geneva to a small town called Dundee to do a recording of their school instrumental groups. WOW, some really great music happening in a very small school. The band room is air conditioned but, of course, in honor of my being their it decided to quit today. I was drenched with sweat most of the day. Came home to Geneva to find some limbs down and a lot of leaves blown off trees. We evidentaly had a severe storm sometime this afternoon. Some electric was out in parts of town and firemen and police are directing traffic over in the East side of the city. We were under a Tornado watch most of the day as well but that has now expired..... Only to be replaced with a new tornado watch until 10PM tonight. The temp is now down to 67°F (from a high earlier in the high 80's) so the cold front has already moved in. If the weather channel is accurate with the maps, it looks like an intense storm just went right over Dundee a few minutes ago...... Just as glad to be home.

Steve that is very sad about the officer. You probably never will know exactly what went wrong in the situation. Things happen so quickly......

Have a great evening all!

Honestly, as a kid, I always wanted to be a cop. I kind of gave it up when I left for the military though. I did have a 10 month stint working there though, so I know whats involved. Its more like a private security force on a very big complex. We'll see, I qualify, and it would not require moving. They'd send me to a local police academy, like at the community college I live next door to (that'd be even easier!).

I'm also looking at a few other driver positions in the local area, for NavFac, as they're still a federal job, same pay rate was well.

I'm also emailing my resume tomorrow to the contractor as a back-up, since I work there now, I can stay there if I cannot find a federal position quickly enough.

Checking with Lucas Group too, to see whats available in private companies in the area.

The worst part of this all, the HASTLE of having to apply, my resume is 2 years out of date!
