Morning all!

Supposed to be cold and not so nice out today, but I think my wife and I are going to the home show at the State Fairgrounds, so it won't matter.

Tell ya what.....That banquet for my son's basketball team last night was something else! They have three teams for different age groups, and my son is on the Junior High team. Well after the season was over all of the teams sent there scorebooks into the state office, and my son's team came in second in the state! They got a big old trophy and some really nice medals to hang on their necks. They also had asked the boys who won the pizza drive if they wanted the iPod, or the cash......they all took the cash. And then, the biggest surprise of the night.....it seems that each boy on each team had been asked privately who they thought on their team had exemplified the most Christlike behavior that year. The boys voted or each other on this. My son's team had voted for my boy, hands down! There was a big plaque and lots of fanfare. I tell ya, I was so proud of him that I could almost burst! And after it was all over, we went to WalMart to collect his prize. He got one of the new Sony Walkmans that plays mp3's and am/fm radio, plus we picked up some goodies to go with it. It's a pretty slick little deal, and he's a pretty happy camper.

Oh well, time to get a move on!

Catch up with you all later!

Mornin' Bill!

Mornin' Jeffery!

Mornin' Philip! Bet your son is a happy camper! It is always great to get recognized for just being yourself.......

I got some more scenery done last night on the layout. Hopefully by tonight I will have some photos to share in WPF. I am waiting on some parts (to be taken from an n scale horse drawn wagon) to complete the silo blower. Then I can put the barn in place and finish the other side of the "property".

It's a nice warm 58°F here in the Finger Lakes this morning, but will be getting chilly later in the day (maybe even some snowflakes this evening.....).

:) Happy and fun Saturday to all!:)

I might as well tell you that I started another tear-out/re-work project (Good Grief!). While my main yard worked perfectly for sessions of two or three operators, it really caused traffic jams for anything larger. The big problem is the lead is way to short and using the main during a busy session, just does not work.

I haven't any free space to lengthen the lead, so I will be locating the new yard over on the peninsula (14' x 30") that was being used for passenger service and the passenger tracks will be located in the old yard location. There are many other badly designed features and hopefully, they will be corrected at the new location. I am still making some final adjustments in the plan, but should start on the grunt work within a few days.

This yard area is the only untouched location on the layout. All the rest have been modified or completely reworked, either because of bad design or to meet the present operation. I guess this better than trying to build another completely new garage size layout:eek: . Besides, its fun!;) :)

Morning all--

Ahah! New location--looks nice.

Nothing much new here in SunnyCal, except that the pollen around here has gone berserk and my Asthma has been kicking up like crazy. Ah, the Central Valley around Sacramento--if it isn't the breeze kicking up the pollen, then it's the breeze stopping completely and letting the exhaust fumes settle in. Yuk!

Supposed to be 85 here this afternoon. In APRIL? Hope this isn't a harbinger of another one of our record-breaking heat waves later this summer.

Heading out to the garage later on to give my Basket Case Yellowstone her Maiden Run, so to speak. Those PSC castings finally came in, and the Lady is looking pretty darned fine, if I do say so, myself, with her new details. Still have to do some minor cosmetics on her, but she's been running quite nicely on the test-track, so it's time to hook her up to some reefers and see how she manages my grades. Still haven't dropped in the new NWSL motor, she seems to be pretty comfortable with her old open-frame original. We'll see.

Have a great day, all, have to get to the garage before the heat-wave settles in.

Tom :D

Good after Noon/Evening.........Just got back from Weeki Wachee Springs Buccaneer Bay Water Park! I had a few customers Lawns to mow this morning and when I got done around noon and My Famliy and I needed a dip:rolleyes: . Today's morning temp was in the mid 70's this afternoon got to 85....Sunny and warm with a nice breeze. BTW: the Spring water was a hot 70 degrees, It's 70 year round! We're going back tomarrow morning and spend the whole day....good thing we got Sesson passes:D :D Got to love the beach! for those still shoveling snow........Got to love the global warming! LOL's

Afternoon, Everyone.

Been busy again with unimportant things like getting my income tax done. :) By the time I'm done paying to the Feds and the State, that will take a bite out of my RR budget for 2008. I don't understand how taxes were supposed to go down when I pay more every year on about the same income. I get the feeling they change a few exemption laws every year and you still pay more even though the tax rate is the same.

Phillip, sounds like your son hit a double jackpot. Between those thoughtful model railroaders and his teammates, he must be feeling pretty good even if he still looks like he was hit by a truck. If only all of us could feel that kind of happiness.

Tom, some kids seem to be natural born thieves. Some grow out of it and some don't but I think Jeffrey's suggestion about letting this kid know that the games disappeared and that no questions will be asked is a good one. Letting the parents know your suspicions is also a good plan since they may be unaware of his "issues". I really wouldn't get the police involved. You have no real evidence except what you suspect and there's no state I know of that allows a nine year old to be charged with a crime even if you caught him red-handed. I hope it all works out.

Rex, I should have you come down here and help me rip apart some of my layout since you seem to be the master of destruction. :D My yard is really irritating since it's stub end with no run-around track and I desperately need another passing siding. There's room to make the changes but it involves ripping out a lot of scenery and I haven't had the heart to to do it. Maybe I need someone with no emotional investment and a claw hammer to do the job.

How were the storms yesterday in your neck of the woods? Everything went north of us intil about 10:00 pm when we finally got a small squall line pass through. Nothing severe but it had the most continuous lightning and thunder I've ever seen. There was literally a lightning strike per second - it almost looked like strobe light show. Blew through in about 20 minutes and we got .31 inches of rain. That was it for us down here.

Tom, I hope that Yellowstone still runs good for you. Some of those open frame motors were actually pretty good assuming the brushes and windings are still in good shape. Sounds like you must be getting a good dome of high pressure setting up to get up to 85. I can remember some awfully hot spring and fall days when the seabreze got cut off in Petaluma.

Ray, I'm looking forward to seeing that silo. It should bring back some childhood memories.

The leftover clouds are starting to clear and it's 66 degrees. There's a frost warning out for Monday morning but I doubt it's going to get below freezing here. At least I hope it won't since my banana tree is starting put out new leaves after surviving the winter. :)

:D :D Jim, my wife keeps hiding the crowbar and I keep finding it. Guess she needs to just throw it far away.

Yesterday's front gave us a good bit of rain, but we didn't have anything all that threatening. One suspect tornado went through the northern part of the county and into Jefferson county. It or straight-line winds caused some damage. I hope you are right about the "freeze watch". It would be a shame to have damage to all the beautiful spring flowers/crops.

Good evening all!

Just did my evening visit over across the street. Looks like their favorite troll is back, or was back. His idiotic posts are disappearing as I type..... Glad they now have some people on the beat during the weekend.

Actually spent most of the day working on the layout. Sure wish my little wagon would arrive so I could finish the silo blower and get the scene done. I would love to have it finished when the gentleman shows up to inspect the layout for the Electrical Certificate.

morning all, just watching the birds go by, i put a roof tile next to the window with some bird sead on it, they soon learn don't they.

Rex go for it, a change is as good as a rest, i need both.
Jim BTW, they are now going to cut up the riverdance ferry in summer, it got hit with the worst winter weather in living memory, if they had got a break sooner they could have re floated it but week after week of storms took it's toll.

Morning temp. 69
after noon 78
tomarrow 10 degrees cooler

The wife, kid, and myself plan on going to breakfast at the cracked egg and just roam around looking for trouble (Making it up as we go kinda day)!

Mornin' everyone!

The sun is out here in the Finger Lakes, but still a bit cold out there. Right now it is 38°F with the high maybe 40° or so. The good news is that the rest of the week looks to be very seasonable and pleasant with highs in the high 50s and 60s. hate to even think about it, but it will be soon time to install the air conditioners and get the mower running again......

Hope you have a great day!

I looked out in the back yard yesterday and I see that it needs mowing. I hate to start the mowing season but it sure beats the snow shoveling season by a mile or three.

Dropped the wife off at hospital for her knee op today, so we went on a jolly to preston station afterwards,
60091 pulling an empty oil train up the steep grade from Preston docks, not sure what the grade is but it's on a curve as well

Morning all!

Just popping in before I head out this morning.

Gotta take my son and wife to the doc's later today. They're going to take my son's casts off and have a look see, then measure him for the custom leg braces he'll need, then cast him back up for 4 more weeks. As for the wife, maybe they'll give her the OK to start walking again. Who knows.

Oh well, gotta run!

Later!
