latenttrainfan The Kubota is a BX1850. It listed for $2,000 less than a comparable John Deere or a New Holland.

Sheesh! I had partially written an entry here, got in a phone conversation with my sister the long winded one, finished the typing and got a page saying the token has expired..... What ever that is?

So, I'll start over! Evenin' all!

I left for church this morning a few minutes after 10 and didn't get home from church until 6:45 this evening. No it wasn't a long sermon..... After church I had to set up recording equipment for the Arts Council concert this afternoon. By the time we had done sound checks, it was too close to concert time for me to go home for lunch. Concert was Excellent, World Class, and simply Awesome! The main performer was Lisa Albrecht, a native of Phelps, NY, and is currently the Associate Principle Trombonist with the New York Philharmonic. The Excelsior Trombone Ensemble was also amazing! (Lisa is one of the members of the quartet.) One of my former students was the percussionist with a couple of their pieces. He recently came back home to Geneva after getting his Master's Degree in Percussion and being a long term sub with the Chicago Symphony. 4 of the 6 performers were Eastman School Grads (as am I) so we had some great conversations as well.

I have been working on a reefer for the milk train that should be finished except for some light weathering tonight. Photos to follow. I haven't even looked at the photos I took at the Syracuse show yesterday and the train ride to and from it.

Catch you all later!

Evening, everyone, found my way to the new digs.

Larry, I've found that I was actually able to plan out and get more done when I was working than now that I'm retired. Maybe it's the "tomorrow" syndrome. Since we theoretically have nothing to do, anything can be put off until tomorrow. :) Hope the visit with your granddaughter was fun.

Corey, you can always break the sheet in half without really causing any problems when you lay the phone as long as it's a clean break. A utility knife should take car of the problem nicely.

Howdy, Paul.

Chris, those cement plants also make a mess. There's cement dust everywhere, even on the trees. Very few cement plants I've seen modeled have the right amount of general dust buildup on everything.

Ray, sounds like you had a long (and cold) day. It never fails that, when you go to a train show to actually buy a specific item, they are sold out. There's some kind of cosmic law about that. :)

LTF, sounds like you had a long day too although a good turkey dinner would be worth a two hour drive for me. The wood stove and a glass of wine sound good, assuming I had a wood stove and could still drink wine. One glass of wine and I'm on the floor barfing from this miserable Meniere's. Dang! I really liked wine too. I know nothing about tractors except they are way too big for me to control on side hills and I would end up rolling one over for sure and killing myself. I'm kind of a klutz. :)

Chris, I hope your wife stayed away from too much of that carny junk food. Good way to get another trip back to the hospital. The pancakes sure sound good though. I haven't made them for a while and now you've given me a taste for them.

Jeffrey, it's warming up here also. With no rain for almost three weeks, and no sign of rain until at least Friday. Things are really drying out, and the low humidity here was 22%, with a high of 81 and 19 mph wind gusts. Perfect fire weather. We'll see what the rest of the week brings.

I'm feeling less like I was hit with a board today so managed to get to church, fix one broken street lamp circuit, and then take a nice three hour nap. I needed it. It takes me longer to recover from these attacks now and the daylight saving time thing didn't help.

Good Morning everyone! Getting ready to go to work:( Not much happening around here.........

Larry Your lucky I'm lazy:D Your tractor would have been in my garage already;)

Jim you haven't lived until you drove down one of our Many many lime rock roads:mad: Talk about dust! Yes, those mines are very messy, and The rock and cement trucks that leave the mines are very dangerous on our roads! I'm going to try to get some shots of the line one day:rolleyes: Jim, It was a job trying to keep her from the wrong foods! But there was some things she could have.......Now, the Kids and I were a mess! the list of what we didn't eat was very very short;) Ryans GF put the most food away:confused: Where that tooth pick put it I don't know:eek::confused:LOL's

BTW: Got a big big stack of Flap Jacks for $2.00! In Febuary we have the Strawberry Festival next! Ton's of Strawberry Short Cake to Eat:p

Good morning all from ye olde London towne. The rain continues off and on and its a balmy (if you are a penguin) 9c (48f). I'm still trying to pour the concrete pad for my train shed. So far its 36 bags down over the last 10 days, and 76 bags to go. My new routine of life is 6 bags down, level, smooth, water, wait, swear at the rain, repeat.

I did have one nice trip down nostalgia lane on the weekend. Ed's Diner in central London now has A&W Rootbeer. I haven't had a rootbeer float since I was a kid. Yum!

Good morning folks

It was 45 F as I headed into work this gray morning. High today will be 58 F. We had a little bit of rain over night but not enough to get the ground wet under the trees.

What a busy weekend! On Friday I had to turn back our unsold Cub Scout Popcorn and close out our sales with our Council. Then we had trick-or-treating. The kids had friends over after trick-or-treating for a small Halloween party. Saturday we cleaned out the garage and stored the summer outdoor furniture. Moved the snow blower up to front of the garage and started preparing for winter. I still have to finish disassembling the gazebo. We also did the grocery shopping. On Sunday we finally slept late. We took the kids out to buy Guitar Hero for the Wii. They saved up the money from their allowances and odd jobs. They both had to chip in and pay for it.

With everything else going on no trains. This afternoon is my daughter’s last volleyball game of the middle school season.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning.

It's 47 and clear. The high today should be around 80 and it will be sunny and clear.

Didn't get much done yesterday as the flu shot I got last week is doing what it's supposed to do, giving me a mild case of the flu. I should be over it in a couple of days they say. I do feel better today.

Well, I finally made it all the way to the coffee shop this morning.

The girls seem to have this changeover down to a routine. It seem to be coming quicker and quicker every time.
I guess that comes from having a good time here so often.:)

For the US members, don't forget to vote tomorrow for the candidates who you think will do the least damage to the country and economy over the next 4 years. Ebay and your LHS need our modeling money to keep the model train manufacturers in business.
Shall I start a "I voted" thread tomorrow?

Afternoon everyone!

Mostly cloudy and 59°F here in the Finger lakes with a high of 57°F. Yep they did it again. Nice to not have to have the woodstove fired up so I can save wood for when Winter arrives........

I spent a couple hours trying to finish a reefer for the "Milk Train" last night. I haven't had this many problems with a project in a long time. First, a few days back I found that my red decals wouldn't show up well on a gray car..... So I repainted it white (over the new decals and everything). That came out usable at least. Then I realized that I hadn't put the ice loading doors on the roof. So like an idiot, I first redid the decals, let them dry and then added the doors to the roof. Now I have to go back and repaint the roof so the doors are the right color. I mask off the main part of the car and paint the roof again. Remove the masking and half of the decals come off with it....... Grrrrrrrrr!:mad: So I spent an hour redecaling the car. If they have dried in place like they should  the car will be sprayed with dullcoat and assembled this afternoon.

I have a lot of work here at home that I have been putting off and a recording to mix so I best get to work on them. Later!

evening all

Ray sounds like your having fun with the reefer, she'll be right mate
Andrew Would it not be better to get the barrow mix boy's in, i did my conservatory base 5 years ago, i used two cubic meters of dry mix for the foundations one barrow at a time, and it poured down from the min the tipper up ended, to say i was knackered two hours later is an understatement. Next big job was the house extension,,, cue the barrow mix boys !!!

Had my heart scan today and all is well, only problem was with the ascending aorta which looked oversize on the x-ray, the cardiac unit are saving final judgment for the consultant.

Today Network Rail started a TV campaign like the operation lifesaver over yonder,,, and right on cue a local motorist jumped a half barrier and was promptly killed, whoops.

Oh yes,,, Dentist.

Went back for said stitches to be removed, went in, booked in, sat down. 30 min's after my booked time i was getting pi***d off and asked when it was my turn, with great embarrassment the girl on the desk had booked me as not having shown up for which you get charged for a missed appointment. I was a bit frustrated to say the least, anyway i went in and they took the stitches out and bled everywhere again as it was botched.!!! so yes i AM suing there arses, talk about incompetent.

Steve I don't know what an ascending aorta Is:confused: I'll pray fer ya dude!BTW so is decending better?

"so yes i AM suing there arses, talk about incompetent. " Remember me at Christmas time;):D:)

Good morning all from ye olde London Towne. Another day of fog and drizzle. Highs of around 14c (57f) The great concrete pour of 08 continues. The first pallet is down with only 56 bags to go. I'm getting used to this stuff now. No mixing, no fuss. Just dump the bags in place, smooth with a plank and water gently.

Paul: thanks for the welcome back. I don't get into the coffee shop as much as I'd like to.

Steve: its a long long story as to why I'm having to do this manually and bit by bit. Suffice to say its saving me around £300. The shed is already way over budget as we had originally planned on using the existing garage base. It was only after power washing off all the dirt and crap we found it wasn't level enough. Getting concrete in London is a right pain. I only need about 1.2m³ of concrete and the smallest load I can get delivered is 2m³. Which would have needed barrowing up the alley as it is too narrow for the mixer, at additional cost of course.

Good luck with the ticker, hope its much ado about nothing. I had a similar diagnosis about 10 years ago. The retest a year later showed nothing out of the ordinary.

Flo: 500cc's of espresso please and put it in an IV bottle, I'm knackered.

Good Morning ! It's another beautiful day here on the Niagara Frontier. sunny 54 going on up to 65 . A good day toVOTEI hope all will go out and do that privilege . Hope you all have a very nice day !!!!!!!!

Good morning.

It's 49 and clear. The high should be around 80 and partly cloudy though it may be blustery around some polling places.

I got a package in the mail yesterday that contained two Athearn SDP40F Amtrak locos and bits and pieces of various rolling stock. I'm sure I'll be able to make use of most of it.
