Good morning.

It's 70 and cloudy. The high is expected to be in the upper 80's and it will be partly cloudy with a chance of rain.

My father and I fixed the mower deck problem on his new mower yesterday. Actually we just removed the steel strip along the front edge. It doesn't look like it was used as any kind of reinforcement but rather was designed to keep grass from being blown out from under the front of the deck. This could be useful if the mower was being used for mulching but since we're never going to use it for that there's not much of a reason for leaving the piece on there. Besides, if the front of the deck needs some kind of reinforcement it would be fairly easy to have a strip of steel welded along the front of it. We had a fire call yesterday, dryer fire in a double wide mobile home. The fire was dealt with in short order and was completely out. Air was pushed through the house under pressure for 20 minutes or more to clear the smoke and detect any hot spots. No smoke or flame manifested itself and all the equipment was packed up and the responding units left. An hour later the house burns to the ground. Did we miss a small fire somewhere? I don't think so. It would have shown up when positive air pressure was introduced. Was there a fault with the dryer that ignited a new fire? Possible. At this point we just don't know. The Fire Marshall's report should help clear things up. On the model railroad front I'm still working on the SD24 which is slowly beginning to resemble an SD26. I may be able to install the decoder today. I don't know yet. I haven't found the decoder for the U30C yet but I will. It's in one of the boxes in the closet. I'll have to go through them one by one.

Good morning folks.

A relaxing, though completely worthless weekend was had. I guess I shouldn't say worthless, the Mothers in my wife were praised properly of course! I did not get anything done though, oh well.

Jim, EVERYTHING will be inspected during visits! Your basement may get passed though. If not, you may or may not receive funny looks and stupid questions!:D

I have a long, boring day ahead of me. I'm actually excited for the weddings to kick in. I can't believe I just said that!

Have a nice day everyone!

Good morning everyone--

We are under a frost warning for tonight as we are going to a low of -2C. Oh well, we got the ol' burlap ready for the evening again:eek::rolleyes: As it is we have a mix of sun/cloud today and tomorrow but will clear up at night---hence the frost.:confused:;)

Josh I used to have a Ranger until the engine done blew up on me.:eek: My Audi did me well over the length of time I had it but it isn't quite the thing to drive around with a Cabinet on its roof!!:rolleyes::rolleyes:;);)--it is a good little stomper--:D

Jim My wife hosted a Bunco thing last year. She has friends who did a lot of dollhouse/miniatures stuff so they asked to see my layout--or what there was of it---she had them talk to me about it while I was hiding in the trainroom. Everyone be talking modeling questions for the rest of the evening. You see, we don't seem to have 'normal' friends---everyone be doing something---oh yes, even kvetching about the lack of good LHS's---:eek::D:D --And we got dribbled on by some more rain last night--even though no rain was forecast. Typical around here;);):)

Today is going to be visit with clients and get some more dang paperwork done---I'll have some time for doing a redo on my Ellis yard.:rolleyes: The dang yard has some switching issues around the team track--didn't find this out until a coupla friends showed up to try out what was operable on my layout---about 60% done. Now more like 40%:mad::confused: I'm going to take a closer look at some switching layouts to see what will do the trick on this bone turkey:mad::eek:--grumble grouch snort snark---

Have a good'un people----:p;);)

This one is stuck in one of those trendy bubble kind of lenses and I can find no way to adjust it. It's pointed way too low now. I'll have to troll the web and see if I can find something. If not, there must be a secret trick and I'll have to bite the bullet and take it to the dealer.
Jim, what kind of car are you trying to aim the headlight on? I have some experience with automobiles, and might be able to tell you how yours are adjusted.

Good morning folks

It was 54 F as I rolled out onto the highways this morning. High will be 63 F with a 20% chance of rain later tonight.

Friday my son had his birthday party at the Lego Store in the King of Prussia mall. The kids had a great time building a project and getting more blocks for their own collections. Saturday we spent the day at the Franklin Institute as part of Astronomy Day and Scout Day. Afterwards we did some yard work. Sunday we continued the yard work and my wife went out and bought a bunch of plants. It has been her tradition on Mother’s Day to begin planting the gardens. She began doing this for her mother and has continued it ever since.

We did not go out to dinner. We decided to do Mother’s Day dinner one night this week or next weekend. Last year we had a big hassle trying to find a place to eat and as she said it was not any fun.

Tonight will be one of the roughest nights I have had or will have as a Cubmaster. We have to ask one of our scouts to leave. The boy, a second grader, has been a problem for the last year. He has been disrespectful to his mother and other adults during meetings. He constantly uses foul language. The last straws have been he has been bullying other scouts and their siblings. He has even pushed and thrown things at them. Since this has now escalated to the point where we have concerns about the health and safety of the other scouts we have to take action. Tonight we have a meeting with his mother and the Charter Organization and the Charter Organization will be asking them to leave the pack. I know this is going to be hard on the mother but she has been in denial about getting help for her son. Maybe this will wake her up. If she does not do something he will end up severely injured, dead, or in jail.

At some point I hope to have some modeling time.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Hi Flo! Where's the lunch bunch?

Did you guys hear how many billions of $$ were spent on flowers this past weekend, several.

I have made good progress on my lower garage cleanup: I went in and looked...now I am thinking about it. :D:D

JIM: I would have thought you guys got pounded by the storm last night. Nothing much up here except for some early morning rain...more coming in now if it doesn't fall apart.

Jeffrey: I remember an MTD mower that I had. The metal plate your talking about is indeed installed if you are going to do mulching. Otherwise, it is not needed.

BOC: FROST WARNING?? Dang man, it's almost summer time :D!

Karl: Fellow, that is a very nice looking truck. (are you sure that isn't a photo of when you brought it home new? :D)

Ken: There doesn't seem to be any set pattern when it comes to rain/drought down here. For awhile, we could blame the ocean currents in the Straits of Japan, Gulf of Siam, or where ever. Now, who knows what they will come up with. It could turn off dry tomorrow and go back into a drought this summer because a polar bear peed on a glacier.:D We just don't think about it and accept it as the norm.

Ya'll have a nice day!:)

Hey All...

Jim...Bunco is a blast! We played once a month when I was in NC. A dice game with lots of cool prizes! It can get pretty noisy :)

Jeffrey...I am not much of a Star Trek fan either. I was the only one in the theater who stood up and applauded when Spock died. Oops! Was that Wrath of Kahn? I am just not much of a science fiction fan, although I did like the original Star Wars trilogy. My sister enjoys Star Trek and I have a friend who goes to the conventions and thoroughly enjoys them. Live long and prosper! (and enjoy the movie) ;)

The weather here has been pretty decent. Mid 60's most days with some rain. Looks like HOPEFULLY we can bypass another year of draught.

Was house and dawg sitting for my brother last week in Keenesburg. Adds another 25 miles to my work commute. Now that gas prices are on the rise again, that hurts!

Have a great week!

Sandy

Evening all. Well, spent the morning at my Mother's home, before hitting the road to come back to B'ham. For the record,I'm beat. Spent most of my time off on the road, but it feels good to be home.:). My brother gave me one of his tv sets, and I just got it set up in my den. It's a big son of gun. I have some pictures from my journey to South Carolina, but it might be tomorrow or later this week, before I post them. So any fellows,I'm going to call it night early,so I'll see y'all later. Whew, man,I'm beat. William.

I got finished with my client visits and then when I did get home went right into the trainroom to relay the 2nd lead track into Ellis yard so that i wouldn't be having issues with the team track---my switch there brings the 2nd lead way too close to the team track hence---I had to draw the dang thing away from the other tracks---well it worked fine for me!!----but not:eek:---

Tom You take care---those kinds of situations are never all that easy to deal with---they can be a drain:(

Rex When we get near this time of May we always get these neat little surprises. Then we go running around wrapping the more sensitive plants up in burlap which helps retain some of the heat in. But, man--:(:(:rolleyes: Sort of a version of what you guys seem to go through down there

Well, I'm going to the trainroom and do some more handlaying---:):):):D

Karl: Fellow, that is a very nice looking truck. (are you sure that isn't a photo of when you brought it home new? :D)
:)

Rex, that pic was taken last September, when I installed the cap. Dad bought the truck when it was 4 years old. He kept it 16 years and according t all the paperwork, he only put 56,000 miles on it, it had 24,000 when he got it. When he passed it down to me, it had just turned 80K! In the last year I've only put 1200 miles on it. For the most part, it's a garage queen, except at train show time, when it carries my gear and corner module, and tows the trailer with 32 ft of modules inside!
Not bad for a freebie! :D
Thanks for the comment!

Jim, I got a line on how to fix your headlight!

I have found the "Secret" tool used by dealerships worldwide. Sometimes called by its scientific name smackthecrapoutis, slang name of Chevy wrench, Ford wrench or (insert your car here) wrench, more commonly known as a hammer! :D Fairly inexpensive, less than $20.00 at some outlets, military versions can cost in excess of $600.00. Requires no special training, once the differential is made between the handle and the head.

Just drive the upper headlight support bracket back, and the angle of the lamp will raise!

Good Morning From FLORIDA!

Well looks like I have to take to day off from work:(:( My wife is having problems with her hip:( Due to her little extra weight it seems to have been effecting her hips. So I must drive her to her Doctors and see if we can get something done about it. Her Operation is the 17th of next month, and according to the doctor it will drasticly help with weight loss and hopefully the hip pain will go with the weightloss.:) As for my weight I'm down to 215#:D........ 65#'s to go:eek: Man what a long walk that will be:o:rolleyes:

I spent last week working on that old BMX bicycle for my son. I Just got it done this morning:D He'll more than likely ride it to school:):):) I'll post some pic's of it soon!

HELLO-HELlo-Hello-hello-----wow is this place huge when no one is around

OOh, hello Flo. What happened to everyone? Gone quite quiet in here--Hello--Chris!!

We're currently at -1C---Frost is on roofs and such--so we got the dang frost. We were mostly dull, dull, dull until about 5 minutes before sunset--then it all cleared up. This morning we;re seeing a sunrise then it'll be our usual sun/cloud mix---with emphasis on the cloud bank.:(--then it'll clear up this evening----:D:rolleyes:

I'm off to do some running around for work today so the early hour for this puppy:D:D I'm supposedly getting a workspace of my own----a cubicle?:eek:---I'm going to end up like poor Dilbert?:confused:----AAAAIIIEE!!!:eek: Hopefully it will not end up like that but I'm getting my own space nonetheless . I'm sharing an office with 4 other people which usually has all of us fighting to do the same things at the same time!:( So a separate space is gonna help--YAY!!:D:D:D

Have a good one people!!:D:D:D

Good morning.

It's 67 and cloudy. The high will be in the upper 80's and there's a chance of thunderstorms later.

Work on the SD24 continues as the SD27J project. I'm rebuilding it into something faintly resembling an SD26 that required a re-designation. It's missing the telltale hump of the SD26 and has six air tanks instead of four. Since this is something UP never owned the UP paint job is toast and the loco is now primer gray with the exception of a patch of harbor mist gray on the roof behind the cab. There wasn't much else done yesterday as the project consumed most of my free time. The metal strip across the front of the mower deck of my parents new mower turned out to be a mulching attachment and is not required for regular mowing. As a result the strip has been removed and will be sent to Metal Mountain with the rest of the scrap metal on the property.

Good morning folks

It was a cool 56 F this morning as I headed out onto the sunny highways. High today will be 67 F.

My meeting with the scout parent did not happen last night as we had a medical issue come up. My wife called me saying that she was having trouble seeing out of her right eye while she was taking the dog to the vet. On Sunday while she was gardening she got poked in the eye from a branch from a plant. It was one of those long thin, spear-like leaves. The leaf got under her sunglasses and into her eye. We washed it out and could not see anything in or on the eye. She felt fine Sunday night. On the way to the vet she had light sensitivity and she said it felt like something was in her eye. Since I have scratched my corneas with my contacts I knew exactly what was going on. I had to leave work early and get her to the ophthalmologist. Sure enough she had a small scratch. She got some eye drops and everything seems fine now. Of course this meant that I had to take my daughter to flute lesson and I was unavailable for the meeting. We will try again tonight.

My son also had his Boy Scout troop meeting last night. He got his first requirement signed-off. He made a personal first aid kit.

Tonight my daughter has her first softball of the season finally after three rain-outs.

With all the other fun I had yesterday there was no time for modeling.

I hope everybody has a good day.

That's good. The Boy Scouts is a great organization to be involved in. He'll be learning new things all the time and working with boys in his age group. It also teaches organizational skills and keeps the members involved in a positive environment. I hope he goes all the way to Eagle!

I just stopped in for a minute to say, "HI".
Work has been chaos since three of our 5 people in my department are working on special projects for awhile. Keeps us pretty occupied during the day and I stay away from the computer when I get home.
Hopefully, things will improve after this week.
It appears that spring has kept many people busy as well. Not as much posting on the forum as in winter weather.:(
Oops! Another customer has a question for me.
Bye for now.

Hello from a cubicular person. I have a cubicle with a view--out a window!!:D:D:D And it is a 11'X11' cubicle--:D:D

Boy, am I getting desperate---heeheehee:confused::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm now trying to get some old photos scanned into 'pooter to put into storage. These pix came from a fellow who I knew who worked in a yard near Palmerston ON. These were done in the late 50's early 60's during the transition era---lots of pix of early diesels and late steam---I'm still trying to get this stuff sorted out:):)

11 x 11 Cubical or 100 x 100........A few of my office mates would be finding their desks around the dumpster! Starting with the brain that hatched the cubical idea!:p I couldn't work in a office, you would be peeling me off the walls;)

BTW: we got some rain in the area so I took advantage of the cool temps and took a ride on my bicycle! I just got back from a 20 mile bicycle ride:eek: avs-10.2mph, Trip time-2 hrs., topspeed-24.3mph. put a fork in me I'm done:o:)
