Chris I'm sort of known for yapping/shooting first:eek::eek: and asking questions later:(---I too should know better!!:)
As for those tent cities--a friend of mine's greatgrandfather, who passed away just recently, kept telling us stories about the hobos that would go by his farm that he had at the time. I'm almost thinking that we may see a lot more of this again if this keeps up--:confused:

Reason this state has tent citys and high homeless rates.......WEATHER! It's That simple, an individual can live in a tent outdoor almst 24/7 with out great problems. We're getting more and more homeless from northern states, because of weather. Panhandling is getting to be a problem:mad: Last week I watch two bums fight over a street corner!:rolleyes: NUTS!

Good Morning--we're at -8C and we'll be heading for a high of 5C for today in the sunshine. The sunshine will be with us all through the weekend with the temperature going back up to 13-15C by Sunday:D:D:D

We got woke up by some Robins singing right by the bedroom window and 'Spring' all a-trembling and making with the clicking sounds with the mouth--He wanted to get at the birds so bad--:D:D:p

Chris It's not so easy for them up here that's for sure---but fighting for a street corner?--Yeeesh--lucrative property?:confused:

Anyhoooo-have 2 clients to see---Flo--can I get a barrel of coffee please --thanks---:D:D:D;)Have a good'un

Good morning folks

It was 36 F with some snow showers in the area. I did not see any but the traffic reports were full of incidents as a result of them. High today will be 47 F.

We had parent-teacher conferences with my daughter last evening. Not much else happened including no modeling.

This weekend is the shopping weekend. My wife works on Saturday and I may try to go in for a couple of hours to clear some paperwork. Saturday my son has a basketball game. We are waiting for softball and baseball to start. This year we joined a different organization. We got tired of the old one due to the tournament team mentality that runs through the league. If the kids are not going out or playing on the tournament teams you are treated as second class. You get stuck on the bad teams with lousy coaches who teach nothing. The other issue is if you don’t go to a certain school you are also treated as an outcast. It is a shame as it was a very good organization when we started out with it 8 years ago. Now that many of the leaders who were running things back then have left and the new crop is lousy and lost it focus that it is supposed to be a fun learning experience for the kids, not a place for the adults to collect tournament trophies earned off the efforts of the kids.

Sorry for the rant but I feel better now.

I hope everybody has a good day.

G'morning eveybody,

Not much going on here weatherwise in the Mid 'lantic region - mostly sunny and low- to mid-40's through the day. Guess that's on target for the last day of winter.

BOC - I haven't seen any robins yet, but I'm sure they'll be here soon. We do see many other bird species at the feeders - except when the **** squirrels muscle their way in and steal all the food!

Chris - it's great knowing that I have someplace to go if I lose my job and my home! :D Of course I'd have to switch over to G scale since that's the only scale that can be setup outdoors...

I left the office early yesterday with a migraine, but 4 advils and a 2-hr nap solved that problem. I was able to finally get the decals printed for the rest of the businesses in my Merchants Row, I should be able to get some pix and post them on this weekend's WPF. I'd better finish up by Saturday afternoon; I won't have any time of my own on Sunday since I'll be driving Sarah back to her college.

Have a good'un !

Good morning.

It's 56 and sunny. The high should be in the mid 70's and it will be partly cloudy.

I didn't get much done on the layout yesterday with the exception of building a small berm around the bases of some buildings so they don't look like they're just sitting there on top of the ground. One of the lectures I remember from Wayne Wesolowski was to 'plant those buildings'. I went to check my snail mail yesterday and found a large box beside the mailbox. It contained a number of homemade trees and two bags, one of green turf and the other of clump foliage. That saves me from having to drive to Alexandria to get more turf and foliage for a while. I may be planting trees this weekend. The doc has me on some pretty stout antibiotics this time around and I feel like a wrung out dish rag. I feel so tired I could just go back to bed and stay there. However there are things that must be done.

Today High: 75 Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 70s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight Low: 52 Mostly clear early in the evening then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

What are you saying:eek: the dogs are way better looking:D
Yeah, and younger too. Wish I had their energy. It doesn't take long for them to wear me out.:D

About the time you think that ALL of the economy is in the dumps, our local Mercedes Plant just announced that they will make another plant expansion to the tune of $300 million. Heck of a note: they just cut back hours and layed off near 700.

Hey, MRRF tent city!:D I got's a wood area picked out:) and street corners are near by too! BTW: make sure you have a bicycle and camping gear....;)

Whew---boy, A lot of work trying to get home today--it appears ev'bodies tryin' to get home from Spring Break all at once. Most of my route either had construction, accidents or just plain silliness--ie: which way do i go? which way do I go?--uhduh--:eek:

I'm planning to get some time for MRR'ing this weekend but a certain "honey do" list may do some last minute kiboshing of certain plans----:(:(

Howdy.

So yesterday my engine started knocking. Drained the oil today, looks like someone filled it with silver paint there was so much metal in there. Drained the fluids today and ripped out a bunch of junk from the engine bay. Monday I pull the axles then the whole engine and transmission is coming out. Hopefully I can still use a lot of it. Can't afford a new car right now.

Sparky OUCH!!:eek::eek: Not a healthy situation!:eek::confused:

Well, I was informed by BIL that my nephew-Eric--and BIL are coming down for the weekend so Eric can toss some music related ideas at me:eek::confused: I know that Eric has been interested in my record collection but what these ideas are I have NO idea:confused: Anyhooo---you all have a good night---:D:D

We had some thing like that happen to us, we were lucky it was Wal-Marts fault and it resulted in a new used car:)
If you car was a horse I would put it down:( But it ain't. Good thing you can do the work yourself!:D

Good start to a thought......If you lost your car or truck or motor cycle a couldn't replace it for a couple of years. Could you survive with out a motored vehical this includes public transportation too? Could you Bicycle or walk to where you need to go? It's amazing how much we rely on these things...... Scarry

I'm lucky, If I could get a job in town The furthest I would have to go is 8 to 12 miles one way. My wife already works only 2.5 miles from the house! It would be tough but is do able.

Good morning.

It's 54 and clear. The high will be in the upper 70's and it will be partly cloudy.

Spent part of the day yesterday getting Ezra's home situation taken care of. He likes being close to his work so he had his house built on top of his gas station. The resulting structure is pretty wild but I can remember seeing similar buildings during my childhood. I often thought about what it must be like to live in one. Well I may not live in one but that doesn't mean I can't model one. It's today's feature photo at the bottom of this post. I also spent some time working on the old brick two stall engine house converted to car barn and workshop. The cellophane type window panes looked like cellophane so I removed them. They will be replaced in time with glazed plastic panes. Those are easy enough to make. Just cut what's needed from one or more of those Wal-Mart packages you almost need a jack hammer to get open, trim the pieces to size, spray lightly with Matte-Finish. After they're dry attach them to the inside of the window with model cement. Works for me.

Mornin' all!

Man, I'll tell ya what.....I'll be glad when the wife is back! Can't seem to sleep when she's gone. I've not slept well for a week now. Guess I can hang on though. She'll be back tomorrow night.

So whats up with you all today?

Good morning shop dwellers!

The weather here in the Mid 'Lantic was kind of ironic for the first-day-of-spring when I first woke up this morning: the birdbath was frozen over and the grass was all caked with frost! But that's OK, it pushes back the time when I'll have to start mowing again.;) I finally finished decaling my Merchants Row I set last night, now I just need to dig out the ol' camera and snap a few for WPF.

Dan - that really sux about your car! I hope you are able to acquire a replacement motor for it.

Chris, I'd be in Deep S*** if we experienced what Dan is going thru. Our house is located ~5 miles from the nearest store, and we have to drive ~20 miles in different directions to take all our kids to their schools and get to our jobs! I always have to use-up a Vacation Day from work anytime I bring either of my 2 vehicles to the mechanic's for maintenance, it really screws up the family schedule.

Phillip, I hear ya - my wife was away last night, she's chaperoning a Confirmation Retreat that our 13yr-old daughter is on this weekend. It took me much longer than usual to fall asleep and I woke up several times during the night. Luckily she'll be returning this evening...

Wow, it's almost lunch time - hey Flo, hows about a Chicken Salad Hoagie with sliced tomatoes, onions and leaf spinach on it! And a Cherry Coke too...

Chris: I am actually in a pretty good spot for a bicycle. I life really close to everything but school. It is just Minnesota is not very bicycle friendly a part of the year (the busy part at that).
