Carey: Get ready! You get out of jury duty once, they will call on you within a month or two. I got out of it once (job related); the next time it was duty or jail.

Last time I was called for jury duty, I had to get out of it because of a rollout of a part of the software we were using in the OR at the time. When I got back to work, everyone said that I'd be called back soon. That was 1998, ten years ago and this was the first time I was called back.:)

Now my poor wife on the other hand, has been called 5 times in the past 4 years and has just been called to the Federal Courthouse for jury duty again next month.

RexHea The LED's are always easy for me to muck up----but to desolder the furschlugener thing? And have it work? YEEESH!! Why are we whispering?
Cause I don't want anyone to know. shhhh!

Carey: Yeah, I remember you telling me that. Heck, when I finally did get selected for a trial, I enjoyed the experience...it was the long week wait:eek:. BTW: The signal bridge was the double track you gave me. Turned out good! Thanks.

Flo, how 'bout a plate of Chris's BBQ ribs - it's Fat Tuesday and I gotta stock up since I'll be fasting tomorrow

My focus is on junk food and strawberry short cake this weekend!:D Fasting:eek: you might as well put a gun to my head:rolleyes: Last time my Dr. told me to fast for a blood test, we must of laughed for a good 5 min.:) then he realized who he was talking too;):):D Actually I'm known more for my Belly Buster Burgers than the BBQ Ribs.....BNSF971(Terry), has been to one of my BBQ's!

Um, guys? The secret is out!;) Don't feel bad. I've been playing with 1.8mm x 3mm surface mount LED's for ditch lights. Can't see what side is the anode. just gotta solder 2 wires and check with a battery, then wire em up from there!:o

Good morning.

It's 57 and mostly cloudy. The high will be around the mid 70's and it will be mostly cloudy.

Today I'll be back into the work of moving gravel but with a very notable difference. One of my neighbors will be doing all the shovel work and I'll be doing the driving. Progress on converting the 85' observation car to MoW service continues. I've picked out a pair of doors for it. Now I have to cut the openings to set them over. After that I'll be putting pieces of painted aluminum foil over the windows so they'll look like steel sheets were welded over them.

Good morning folks

It was 21 F as I rolled out of the driveway this morning. High will be 45 F. This year the cold is really bothering me. At times I feel to the bones and many times I feel like I can’t get warm. This winter it has been cold since late November unlike past winters where we had weeks in the 50s and 60s. I cannot wait for Spring.

Last night my daughter had her flute lesson. I spent some of the night getting ready for our Cub Scout Pack Meeting tonight. I had to assemble all the awards and pack a few props we will need. I did get a chance to rearrange some things on the workbench so hopefully I am closer to having some modeling time.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning--High for today will be -2C.Right now we are at -7C. And sunny.:):):D

Had some excitement this morning. Got woke up by 'Spring' --our cat--batting at my nose and running around like a herd of buffalo making with some growling.:confused: I go to the back of the house and see some guy trying to pry open the back door!!:eek:I grab the ol' machete I have and turn the lights on---guy dekes--right into the arms of next door neighbour who just so happens to be a police officer:):)!! Talk about timing!! Neighbour tells me when guy is picked up he's a known druggie--gotta get some cash for his drugs:mad:---and we have people who carp about collectors in MRR'ing:confused::confused:

So I'm getting ready to go and do some work with a couple of clients today---next week I'll be having a different bunch of clients, this time in town by the looks of things --one doesn't live too far from one of my fave LHS's either!:p:p:D

KarlSurface mount LED's are so much fun--I'll be using a bunch in the atrium building--one of the buildings will probs hold the circuitry for the timing stuff--I'll figure that out as I go along---

Mornin' all!

Beautiful ride in on the bike this morning! It was 31 degrees when I left the house, so full gear was the order of the day. Man, those little thermal packs stuffed in some gloves make a world of difference! Probably won't need them later though. It's supposed to be in the 50's this afternoon.

Indianapolis, Indiana
Currently: 37°F Mostly Cloudy
mostlycloudy_am_55x55.gif

Wind: Southeast at 9 MPH
Humidity: 52%
Dewpoint: 21°F
Barometer: 30.17 inches and steady
Wind Chill: 30°F

Today: partly cloudy until midday then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs in the lower 50s. South winds 5 to 15 mph.

In other news, I had to take the wife to the hospital last night for an EKG. She been nauseated since last Thursday, and when she went to the doc's yesterday (finally, after me begging her to go), they told her that she had a fast heartbeat, and that could be the cause of the nausea. I'd never heard of that, but we went for the test. It was hard for them to get a good reading because of her nerve damage, but we got it done. We find out the results today. It's strange though, because nothing has changed for her recently. No new medicines, the only change in routine is that the ladies Bible study she hosted every Teusday morning is meeting elsewhere starting last week (so that actually takes pressure off of her). It's odd. I'm concerned, but I know she's in God's hand, so it'll be what He want's it to be.

Blownout....I'd say Spring needs a top notch tuna dinner!

Oh well, I'd best be off!

Prayers for all in need! Yeah, thats you! (Me too!)

PC I've had that--I have a heart arrythmia that does the fast paradiddle on occasion. We'll pray for her health----

And BTW he's getting a special treat today--that is for sure!!!

Good morning, it's a much happier 40 degrees and NO WIND this morning. Highs in the lower 50's. Local weather forecasters are calling b/w 51 and 54 degrees respectively. Lots of sun, and I better not get used to it, as this weekend's railfan excursion may get moved, as the weekend is 40's and RAIN.:( Well, time for another fun day at school lol, I'd much rather be running the new Amfleets and running my BLI AC60 with sound.

Evening.

Good day today. Spending the night cleaning up my desk. Managed to clean out most of my computer stuff. Down to some paintball stuff to get rid of. It feels nice getting rid of things and cleaning my desk. Then I am cramming math tonight to get some homework done so I can try to turn it in tomorrow before the HUGE snow storm hits.

What happened in here? There was no one for how long? Poor Flo--all alone:confused:

Oh well. Got the frame all together for the Atrium and ready for the 'glass' to be put on. I have to do some fiddling with it but I think I'll have it all ready to post by the next weekend.

WOW! Over 12 hours and nobody's been in here Flo?:confused:
Who Farted???:eek::eek::eek:
CHRIS DID IT!:eek::eek:

Hi everyone! Hope all has been having a good week. BOC/Karl and any others that use LED's, I bought mine from http://www.moreleds.com/discrete.htm
They are located in Oregon, I got fast service and the owner is very friendly and helpful. The prices are terrific: I paid 0.20 per axial lead (surface mount) LED. I ordered about 6 different kinds for projects. BOC, he has some of those big 8mm and 10mm clear LEDs that would be good for inside buildings.

Evening, everyone.

I've been spending almost every waking hour trying to dump some AIG bonds I hold. Went two days without anyone in the entire world will to make a bid. Finally got a sucker this afternoon who paid $69 per bond that cost me $93 three months ago. AIG is going to become some kind of nationalized business by Monday and the debt holders are going to be wiped out. I was happy to get the $69 compared to the 50 cents or so they will be worth on Monday. I've been investing for 40 years and I've never seen fear and panic like we have now. I owned 360 bonds @$93 each so I think I lost $9,000 in round numbers. Not bad for almost three days work.

BOC, good job by the cat and your neighbor. I was in a similar situation with a neighbor only he had a big dog. The dog jumped on the scumbag and was biting the crap out of him. I went over to see what was happening and my neighbor had just pulled the dog off of him. He was getting ready to take off when he saw the badge and gun. Boy, did he look depressed. :)

Phillip, I hope the tests turn out OK for your wife. Sounds like some form of atrial fibrillation, which can make you dizzy and nauseated. Sometime it occurs for no apparent cause and then converts to a normal rhythm on its own. It's usually a benign condition so I hope that's what it turns out to be.

The whole jury duty thing in California got ridiculous before I left. I used to just have to send in my ID card to get taken off the list but then they changed the rules so everyone had to show up and hang around for eight hours, even though no defense lawyer in his right mind wanted a cop on the jury. I haven't been called in Alabama yet but I hope they are more sane here.

Jeffrey, watch that foot - driving can be tough on it too. Looks like some more nasty storms Friday also.

Chris, LOL, I can imagine you and the doc having a good laugh about fasting. :D Sounds like I need to get down there for a Bely Buster one of these days.

Karl, I can barely solder two wires let alone surface mount LED's. I'm afraid soldering will never be one of my top skills no matter how much I try. I'm just happy when no hot blobs end up on delicate places of my body.

Nathan, sounds like a nice day in Virginia. I've been done with school for 35 years and still never get much time to run my trains so don't feel too bad.

Dan, a HUGE snowstorm in Minnesota? I'm shocked. :) Maybe you'll get out of school for a day or two.

Rex, I need you to come down and solder all my LED's for me. I've got about 50 of different types that stare at me from a drawer because I'm too crappy at soldering to ever get the resistors soldered right. Looks like things could be tricky for us Friday night and Saturday again with some pretty severe storms. At least my neighbors won't be able to blame me for them this time. I need to get that cat vacuum ready. :)

Oh, yeah, I also spent part of the past two days taking pictures and measurements of the church building I have to model. This a picture of just part of the front. The highest point is 70 feet.

Karl, As the old saying goes......."You smell it, you Dealt it!":D and yes, Rex, it is my fault:( I got everyone looking for a good smoke house for some ribs:D! Jim, if you come down here for a belly buster, bring your own wheel barrow to haul your butt home. funny thing is when my in-laws come over for dinner that's their biggest request:D!

Good morning.

It's a pleasant 61 here and most cloudy. The high will be around 77 and it will be partly cloudy. A lake wind advisory is in affect for this afternoon.

White caps were rolling on the lake yesterday and some nut was out there trying to get some fishing done. He finally gave up. The gravel work is done! My neighbor (niece's boyfriend) showed up yesterday afternoon accompanied by a big burly friend and they got the shovel work done quick considering the gravel had to be moved about an 1/8th of a mile. They then set the felt paper on top of the gravel like I wanted it done. I'll be buying him a couple of 12 packs of his favorite beer this weekend. That's the least I can do. I called the old boy with the track hoe and left a message that I was ready to have the ditches filled in. That's a major project completed. Got to go see the foot doc today so he can poke and prod my feet a bit. After that I'll be going to the post office to send a loco back to a friend who sent it to me to have some work done on it. The requested work was done in less than an hour and I replaced a few broken items I found in it as well. No way was I sending him back a broken loco even though it arrived here that way. He was pleasantly surprised that it was done so quickly. Got the Amtrak 85' observation car stripped yesterday and repainted primer gray. Next thing to do on it will be to cut the holes for the sliding doors to fit into and mount the rails for the doors to mount on. The doors won't actually slide but they'll appear to be able to do so.
