Now to 'real' cliff hanging.

I only had an inch to fill in between foam and the floor. I will still use the same tried and true folded newspaper technique. This time I will use less paper and more masking tape to hold it on.

As usual plaster cloth. The good thing about plaster cloth and newspaper is after a couple of hours drying you simply press into the foam the overhanging plaster cloth and it hold its shape.

After drying over night I add Sculptamold and I have my cliff face. Remember, I'm not a fan a solid fascia. I like mine to blend in with scenery and become a 'part' of layout scenery not a barrier.

Next is painting and all the landforms will be complete. I've decided that scenery on this layout will be a bit more tedious at best than on the other layouts. The fact that there will be far LESS scenery isn't as simple as it seems. If you've never been to the SW Desert pinnacle areas scenery is spare. On the other hand Sedona pinnacles pop up in the pine forests. I'll figure something out. Jim

After painting the front side of the layout looks like this:

Notice how I added little mounds and extra mm's on the top in case a train tips over! I may add for some of you I have NEVER had a moving train hit the floor. Personally, I feel this simply hype. Kids are one thing around layouts. If they don't know the meaning of don't touch send them to the backyard. Over the years I've seen way too many layouts not live up to the owners dreams because of 'hit the floor.' Look through this thread and find pictures showing locos and consists less than half an inch from doom. Trust me! I was a teacher. Jim

And ruled with an Iron ruler (none of this wimpy wooden ruler stuff).

I don't know how Jim, all I know is I've been watching this thread since it started and if there gone I will be Pissssssssed !
I go back and look at them now and again, so this aint good !
The link to your photo storage doesn't work either, Maybe that's the problem ?

Pretty sure it'll be P/bucket, if I click on the little square with the X in it, it say's the page cannot be displayed. I believe they've been having some problems of late.

What is on the forum page are only links, what you are actually looking at is your P/bucket album, any break in the link and all you get is that little square.

Yes, you can't move, i.e. to a different folder, edit or delete them. I did that when I was a newbie on that site, thinking I didn't need them on there anymore, 'cause I'd posted them. I'm just going to have a look-see in case the site is down.

Don't Panic, they're down for maintenance, be back shortly it says. Maybe the shortly's turning out to be a longly.

Yes, I agree with all Toot said. I wonder how all the photos got back to the correct spots? That stuff is beyond me. So here is where we're at at the moment.

All landforms are finished, but I may make a small change on Monday, for now this is it. Jim

It's said that a picture is worth a thousand words, almost inferring that words are redundant. In fact pics and words are complimentary. Without explanatory words, some of a picture's details could be missed, ignored or misconstrued, i.e. be illusionary, e.g. Jim's contests.
