New to this forum. Long time model railroader. I am a Lehigh Valley fan and lone-wolf modeler.

Question: BWL HO 4-8-4 DCC with Paragon 2 sound factory installed. I have downloaded and read everything I can find on how to use the macro.

Only the 4-8-4 on the track, using ops programing ( as recommended by BWL), set the loco back to factory settings, cleared all addresses
from the Zephyr, I get the loco signals that recording has started, run the loco, stop the recording, and press F26 to play back, does nothing.

Another recommendation from the BWL user manual is to select CV8 after recording and set CV8 at 16. This does nothing. I get a lot of (full)
and (busy) errors on the controller about half the time. I'm beginning to think the Zephyr is not compatible with the Paragon 2 macro function.
I have spent long periods waiting for BWL tech support and am ready to give up on them. Anybody have any thoughts on my situation or
experience using the macro. Thanks

Steve

I have not done the macros yet, I have a P2 Y6B. I'll look at the instructions, but did you actually stop the recording? Maybe why you get busy signals. I would reset the engine and try again.

I think you need to use the programming track to do a sound download. BLI (BWL) can do a lot on the mainline under ops, but try the programming track and PG on your throttle. Be sure to hit the exit button before removing the loco from the programming track.

According to the BWL manual, I have stopped the recording. To stop you press the F27 button and the rear light flashes to indicate the recording is stopped. I have repeated this process many times after clearing everything from the loco and controller and it still doesn't work.

This is one fine running loco and the sound and detailing seem great to me. If the macro thing never works it won't take anything away from the loco. I'm a tinkerer and just want to figure out how the macro works.

Hi Ken: The programming track won't work because the macro stops automatically when power is interrupted. Using the exit button after programming is new to me, let me know the details on using the exit because I may be missing something.

Just reading b ack through your OP, I see that you are using the Zepher. I was oriented to the DT402 throttle which offers an exit button for programming.
Going into the sound selection, you are adding a sound file to the loco. Once it is established on the decoder, you have to select it just as you would select one of several horn sounds. I don't have the manual here with me but I think it is described in what you are reading.
