A new beginning inspired from my old Central Midland Layout

Some problems with some track work last night. I use pico code 83 track and it shows you that even a good quality track will sometime warp or have some issues. So I get to spend this cold morning finishing it up do some ballast some painting will be back in business.

I have an open house this weekend for a train club that is going to visit my layout. Good thing about this, it be made me clean everything up and finish ( mostly) some projects I have been putting off. I finished replacing my bad section of track and it works great. My ballast is done and I worked on replacing the crossing at that section which inspired me to finish two others that needed to be done. A few more details but I believe it is show worthy this weekend.

Working on a lot of projects right now and keep forgetting to post. I started working on my YouTube channel to keep myself engaged throughout the year with my layout, rather than taking a break every summer. I never realized how busy a channel can keep you, but I do like it. I am still amazed how time flies, and I am in my 11th year with this layout. `I credit this forum for keeping me interested and how the experience of people on this forum has helped me along the way. :)

My Big Boy engine, which I screwed up, has been at BLI for a couple of months getting a total upgrade and rebuild. I sure miss that engine on my layout. I was searching through my "Unlisted" videos on my YouTube channel and found this one I did 7 years ago. It is nice to see it running, and it is amazing the progress on the layout since then. I love these old videos. This video will be going live on YouTube this afternoon, so I can share some old footage.

Why is that video 'private' ?

Thank you. At the price that BLI told me, they would do a full overhaul and decoder update, I am not messing with it myself.
 


HI all. It's been a busy summer, and I haven't kept up with my YouTube channel much either. I have been organizing more than running trains. My train collection has gotten a bit out of hand. Seems like a common problem with us train guys. I have been busy building one building, though. It is the Hamilton, Ohio CH&D ( Cincinnati, Hamilton & Dayton) train Depot. Later, in 1917, B&O acquired it after Ch& D went out of business. We moved this train station in 2022 after CSX decided to tear it down. Four presidents spoke here, including Lincoln. A gentleman I know commissioned CMC trains to build a replica of the depot. There were only three kits ever made of this highly detailed kit. They paid close to $4000.00 to have them made. There was one kit left, and this gentleman gave it to me to have on my layout. This was a chore since there was over 400 + pieces and no instructions. Luckily, I could go to the depot and take pictures for reference.
The other problem was _ " Where will this go on my layout?" After building this and modifying some tracks and adding tracks, I found A place near the downtown area. It will serve as a train museum where steam engines can pull in to visit; that will be the story.
With that being said, I think my result will look pretty good. Here are the pictures as of now. I have lighting and lots of details to still finish.
