This morning I tried to do something with that intrusive floor lamp which is harpooning my layout

. I set the base on something beneath the layout to raise the most hideous parts of it and installed foam tight around it.
I’ll cover all the seams with plaster cloth before scenery. I also put some scrap plastic around it to see how it would look if I built a structure around it (a small shed or something

)
Also started on what will be tracks going over a culvert
Did some touch up on some ballast and added more layers of ground cover. I’m about 3 ft. away from where the culvert will be

Spent the last few days working on some scenery. I think it looks ok so far. It achieves the goal of getting rid of more blue foam

it may look a little better tomorrow when it has dried more.
Happy 4th everyone! I continued with scenery today. Again I took pic before glue dried so I expect it will look better tomorrow. I have more work but I like it so far.
I still have a freight yard to put back together but lots going on this summer and I don’t want to pay $100 for the track right now so I’m working with what I have.
@Smudge617, for you and others across the pond, by Happy 4th, I guess I meant happy election day

Some good looking track work going on there!

Some more work on scenery in this area. Unfortunately I broke my glasses so on hold until my new ones are ready
That's looking pretty good to me, well done.
Thanks, smudge. Which coincidentally is all I can see until I get my new glasses, smudges

How did you manage the glasses mishap?
Or should we ask?

Fell asleep with them on. I’ve done it before but didn’t get away with it this time

Starting to put the yard back together after the Great Sheet Cork Disaster of earlier this year
Tomorrow I hope to start painting and straightening out the tracks. By next weekend maybe start ballasting...but we'll see

I completed my "dispatcher's panel" on JMRI. If I live long enough to do everything required I will be able to throw turnouts from my computer in addition to my DCC throttles and the turnout's position will be displayed on the panel.
I think I want a black background and white track lines and text but I'm having trouble with that for some reason. Waiting for a response over at JMRI users group

Hi, folks. Kind of a useless update here. I got a bunch of rail painted yesterday but didn't start ballasting in the yard today like I wanted to. Just too darn tired
Might be off work tomorrow due to rain so maybe tomorrow

Well, the good news is that I finally started ballasting the yard tracks. Bad news is I just found out I'm out of the eye dropper things I use for the glue...
I'll pick some up tomorrow and hopefully have an update including a photo soon

I had leftovers for dinner tonight because my oven was baking dirt for 3 hours
Good news is I continued work in Meridian Yard. Real dirt and some purchased materials mixed in. It hasn’t been glued yet because I didn’t get more eye drop type things for the glue

Hopefully tomorrow.

More work in Meridian Yard today. I'm confident when the glue dries it will be a uniform color
