Looks good. Where is the double crossover?

well some changes have been made... the helix didnt work so well... in fact not at all... i just need more room. so for now i am going with this...

the outside loop will be somewhat isolated, this will be for my son to run all his trains around and around.. while i work on the inside with more turnouts sidings storage areas ect...

i just wasnt happy with the way the helix was coming, and after testing, neither did any of my locos.

Yeah, I was wondering about the grade on the loop. The new plan will give more room for buildings, mountains, etc. Put the righthand outside track in a tunnel. Will you still be able to come down from your bridges to the level of your first crossover? You will need to drop from 3 inches to that height in what appears to be 6-7 feet.

yea, it is a steeper grade, but it'll do... and yes i have laid the track out already, and the cars ran down it just fine... i am gluing the inside roadbed now, then tack the track again with pins and do another test run video of the inside loop..

after the inner loop is done, i'll hack the track and install turnouts. i am still waiting to get 3 more #6 turnouts.... i only have #4's at the moment. 6 provide a much smoother operation.

No derails means quality track work, good job! It is a far cry from your original post, so much for that CAD stuff. I built my benchwork first and then found what would fit. I gave up on plans awhile back!

yea i am doing everything on the fly now.. no more design, i'll lay the track down from now on and tweak from there.... the next layout will definitely be different, this is my 2nd 4x8 layout, and just not a fan... i wish i had the room now to do a dog bone or even a horse shoe layout...

Reverse loop & Spurs

Reverse loop & Spurs (roadbed is already done)

now to drill and install all the wiring. test again, and glue the track down (still planning, i have some spare bridges, 18 inch radius bride, plus some 9 inch bridges... man add a small river? pond? lake edge?)

Got my plaster cloth in, so anxiously awaiting to get into that...

And yes, two of the spurs are really short, but my switching engines fit perfectly on them and if i need to, i'll isolate the two short ends so the engines can stay parked.
