The Nascar vehicles are the wrong size. They are marked 1/87th, but they are 1/72nd. I brought that to the attention of the toys dept. mgr. & she said she would pull them off the shelf until she gets it returned.
Walmart is lowering the prices on over 100 toys for this Christmas season.
I found the Hotwheels speed gun at half price today. They are going to cut prices on a lot more stuff before the holiday rush. I was told that they may lower the prices on some of the 1/87th stuff in 2 weeks. I'll try to find out when for sure, but other stores will make changes when they see fit.

Can you really tell by looking at them, even if they're right next to each other??? I mean, wow, I have trouble seeing HO scale vehicles unless I'm within three feet of 'em. :D

Wow! in the past week I've been to five different Wal*Mart stores and haven't even seen a 1/72 model car. Now all along, I've been blaming the stores for not stocking them. But now I know it's me, they're there but I just can't see them. Funny thing, I can't seem to see the space they're suposed to be in either. Guess I'll have to put in a complaint to Wal*Mart to make them bigger for me to see. ;)

Cheers Cousin Weakeyes :D

Thats the large, 13 & 24 car boxes right? Because the 4 car boxes are defently NOT 1/72, maybe 1/89 (which is a fmr common mistake for HO scale cars)... I'll shoot pics of the the lone Nascar car I have an show that its close enough to HO to be HO!

Anyways, the Orange cabs are sold out (in 2 days actually) at my Wal*mart, and I walk through that aisle every day, to get from the clock to the TLE bay...

The 4dor is supposed to be a 1/64th diecast from Hotwheels but it scales out almost purrfectly for this 1/87th scale hauler.

The chassis is an Athearn Freightliner 3 axle. This is going to be the tote truck for my clubs N scale modules.

I have not decided on which wheels and tires to use or what to use for the trailer.Anybody care to offer suggestions?

I remembered to take a walk around the toy section of Walmart today and found the 1/87th scale cars that you were talking about. This is what I came away with:
1-red tractor
1-blue tractor
1-white tractor
1-red 55 Chevy Bel Air w/Caravan
1-red Volkswagon Bug
1-black & white 55 Chevy Bel Air
1-red 65 Shelby AC Cobra
1-blue 55 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396
1-blue Volkswagon bus
1-black Volkswagon Bug
1-lime green Volkswagon bus
1-silver Dodge Viper RT/10
1-green 59 Porsche 356B
1-green Volkswagon Karmann Ghia Coupe
1-yellow & white 55 Chevy Bel Air
1-black Thunderbird
1-blue Pontiac Firebird
1-silver 69 Chevy Camaro SS 396

I also saw that there was a very limited supply of John Deere farm equipment there as well. There was anything there to right home about as it was plucked clean but I did happen to notice that the company that was distributing them was Athearn.

There's another Walmart I want to try that is close by and see if they have anything different. In case anyone is having a hardtime finding these things, the company that makes them is Malibu International LTD.

I actually discovered the 1:87 vehicles independent of any report of them. Not knowing they had been out for a while, I started scooping them up. I covered the three area Wal-Marts and was able to get a good supply of a Malibu cars, but I was only able to get six of the norscot tractors and I definately want more of those. So who's been carrying the $6 norscot tractors? I checked a target store, but they had nothing even close to 1:87 there. Here is a pic of the stuff I have so far! I have not seen hide nor hair of the Malibu semi trucks or the John Deer tractors.

Reading a diecast website, it seems that Model Power cancelled their contract with High Speed after half of the product had come, and High Speed contracted with 21st century toys to sell the balance of the models (that would have been the inital release of these vehicles last year). The fact that they are back this year is a good sign! Maybe we are convincing Wal-Mart that stocking 1:87 scale stuff is the way to go! BTW, 21st Century Toys owns Malibu International LTD, and the website listed on the box has never worked according to reports.

Didn't see that many trucks?

You can make that SEVEN trucks now. I was wandering "my" Wal*Mart today at lunch, and ran into a Blue, Lavender & Orange cab in the Model asile!!

I have a red one, blue one, and white one. I'll check my other Walmart and see if they have the green, lavender, and orange ones.
They also had the sets of 5 too at my Walmart but you need to be observant when there. They don't put them all out where you can see them. They had the sets of 5 up on the top shelf where no one looks and there just happened to be a small ladder in the aisle to make them easily accessable for me.

Maybe there is hope that there can be a new toy release of the old Monogram Mini Exacts. These cars are currently being sold by Herpa for $10 each, but they were originally a toy car sold in stores. They had a unpainted plastic body and plastic glass with a metal underframe. Some cars also had a chromed plastic part. They had some neat models in that set including many 80's era cars that I could use including a Iroc Camaro, 80's corvette, a Buick Grand National, and a Pontiac Firebird. Unfortunately I sold off my rather sizeable collection of those a few years ago when I ventured into N scale. But now I'm coming back to HO.

Monogram Mini Exacts. When that co. went out of business years ago, I was in a discount toy store in Tampa one day & found a ton of those cars in sets of 3, 5 & 8. The sets of 3 were a dollar, the sets of 5 were $1.50 & the sets of 8 were 2 bucks. after hagling w/the store mgr. for about 5 mins., I bought everything they had for a dollar each. So, I got all 3 sets for a buck ea. I spent about $50.00 & got everything he had. Then about 3 months later I was in one of their stores in Sarasota & talked that mgr. into a set price for all of his Exact cars. I bought about 50 sets for $30.00. Since that day, about 1985 or 86 I haven't seen anymore.
If you want the JD tractors, don't look in a Supercener, look in a smaller WM store, although some of the smaller Supercenters have them. Also, the WM brand of tractors is the same as some of the JD tractors. The bigger dual wheel tractors, not the antiques. They are different colors. Some are blue, red & white.(WM brand). Not all WM's carry the Cat brands.
If any of you have a Tractor Supply store in your area, they also carry a full line of 1/87th Cat tractors & at Christmas carry the Cat. H.O. scale train sets.
Tr.Sup. is a lot higher in price than WM.
