The Tractor Supply store version is the Hobby version, with all the working parts, hence the higher price.

I've ONLY found the Cat equipment at a Super Wal*mart myself, but then again, San Diego's wal*marts are weird.

My Walmart supercenter isn't as big as the new WM's they are building now.
We weren't handling the Cat or JD equip. until I requested it from the Toy dept. mgr. Now, as soon as any of it comes in & I notice it right away I get a few pieces, but if it comes in when I'm not there, then it's to late. Someone else gets it. I work in the local WM in the receiving dept. & take care of the whse. So, usually I get 1st chance. The people that work in that dept. keep me informed about any new 1/87th stuff. For a long time when WM was making the WM semi's they use to take out that truck & hide it up top on the riser & I knew where to look whenever I was in that dept.

There are 4 Walmarts within 25 minutes each way from where I live now. I am going to check out the others. The CAT stuff I saw in Walmart's I was in on friday was way too small. There was no way it 1/87th.

Scott, The only item that isn't 1/87th is the small crane. I beleive everything else is.

I don't know about that. I compared it to the 1/87th scale cars I was buying and the bulldozer and dumptruck looked way too small to me to be 1/87 scale.

I agree w/you about the dump truck & the bulldozer. I took one of my HO scale people along & it was way to big for those vehicle cabs. Also. the crane(backhoe) is way to small. I have the same problems w/semi trucks that I buy of the cabs being way to small & the trailers being the right size.
Have you ever taken a seated figure along & see if it would fit in the cab of that vehicle? I do quite often & it's really surprising of the scale not being correct.
But, a lot of vehicles look good on the layout anyway, so, I buy them.

Thanks for the heads up on the K-mart and ShopKo. I picked upa few more tractors at the local K-mart, and plan to raid other nearby K-marts and ShopKo's ASAP. As far as the Norscot models go, most of the HO line seems based on the smaller Cat models, and not the large size models. For instance the Norscot D5M is on the lower end of the scale that runs from a 70hp D3 to a 850hp D11. The D5 is only 121hp. The D8 is one of the more popular Cat models (I work at a power plant that has D8 and D11 bulldozers). Again, the 315CL excavator is classified as small on the scale that runs from a 54hp 307C to a 513hp 385CL. The 315CL is only a 110hp model. My photos show 325's and 330's as popular flatcar loads. I do have one pic showing three 320CL's on a 89' flatcar.

As far as the Norscot Mini stuff, they do seem to be HO scale models of some of the miniturized CAT models. Not really suitable for flatcar loads, but great for a residental construction site. Comparing E-bay pics to the model spec page at cat.com, Id' say that is exactly what those are.

While at Wally World today I grabbed up a few more of the diecast 1/87 cars.

1950's black/white Ford Taunus(?)
1959 blue Porsche Convertible 356B
Mint Green Volkswagen
Silver Volkswagen w/Caravan
Orange Semi
Yellow Semi

My local Wal-mart has restocked big time with the Vehicles and the Norscot tractors. So I proceeded to nearly clean them out on the Norscot tractors again! Still haven't been able to get a dump truck yet, but on this haul I got two scrapers, 2 bulldozers, a front end loader, and a excavator. I left behind a few graders and water trucks.

 Wow! I did a search on ebay ... holy cow 15 bucks!
I did see a lot a variety. Really cool stuff. Thanbks for the tip!
