Guys,
We admit defeat on trying to use the initial T1 samples to build a working truck with the traction motor casings and side-frames. Luckily a second batch that have been QC'd will arrive Tuesday so we can start again.
We've been working hard with very little resources to get these...

Use our decoder for motor control, with it we will warranty the traction motors. They are designed for quick replacement, we will do the rebuilding.
I not recommend using this locomotive as a rug runner, just because the motors wear faster than standard versions due to their smaller size...

Here are some more images. He's on the home stretch now.
We'll have more images and video of the entire truck/locomotive under power ASAP...

Guys,
This shows where we are at with the drive. Once we get the traction motor heat sinks we're able to start function testing with motor control but everything so far works.
Here are some assembled traction motor images. The heat sink is the only missing component. Its due to ship...

yes, we're using a decoder for motor control as it is the best way to avoid heat and a complicated wire set up due the need for resistors. the dcc will take care of all this. the decoder can also be used on dc layouts.
if you are a purist, you can make your own electrical system but we're...

yes, each journal has two springs so there are four springs per axle. works very well. the traction motor is mounted with a pin and ball joint so it all floats. there is a little side to side motion in the axle due to voids in the journal between the pin and wall of the plastic. the truck...
