Drive Works - (Thank God!)

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

We got all of our test samples except for the heat sink which also acts as the mounting point to the side-frame. They are polishing the mould now, will be just a few more days before we can show some video of the pre-production product.

yes, each journal has two springs so there are four springs per axle. works very well. the traction motor is mounted with a pin and ball joint so it all floats. there is a little side to side motion in the axle due to voids in the journal between the pin and wall of the plastic. the truck will swivel and rock at the boslter forward and backwards. this setup allows p87 and excellent tracking qualities.

yes, we're using a decoder for motor control as it is the best way to avoid heat and a complicated wire set up due the need for resistors. the dcc will take care of all this. the decoder can also be used on dc layouts.

if you are a purist, you can make your own electrical system but we're going to warranty the drive with our motor control only.

Guys,

Our last component before we can start traction motor production and begin frame/truck testing will leave our supplier in two days, we'll have an update next week when they arrive.

Everything else is in production for the traction motors and wheel sets. We just added 1.5MM and 2MM axle options to our wheel isolators.

Thanks,

Christopher Howard
