Returning to model railroads after 40+ year hiatus

You have to see who the seller is. Amazon lets businesses sell through them. Generally speaking, Amazon will be the most expensive place to buy from. Try trainworld.com, modeltrainstuff.com, etc.

What brands of model trains are available in the UK?

    Accurascale, KR Models

Tam Valley Depot Frog Juicer Problems

There is no phasing of the juicer as the point of it is to reverse the feed to the frog anyway. What video did you watch? We have those juicers all over our club layout without issue. To have four that are bad would be very surprising.

    Digitrax layout problem.

There is no polarity in DCC. It is phase. If you have an ohmeter, you can test the phase by testing the AC voltage across the insulated joiner (should be 0 or really close) and then diagonally across the insulated gap (should show voltage probably 10 - 18 VAC). These voltage are just for...

    Digitrax layout problem.

You need to match the phase of the two adjoining power districts. Swap the wires from rail A and B on one of the power districts.. Brendan

    OK Free-mo

The free-mo standard is only DCC. I would think it would be very difficult to have a standard with cab control; just the wiring nightmare alone would make it impractical. Brendan

    OK Free-mo

    Good idea. Thanks

Nice setup. What are the blue boxes hiding on the curve modules? Brendan

    Unplug the Power Cab?

No harm unplugging. I have mine on a power strip/surge protector and just shut the power strip off with its switch at the end of a session. Brendan

    Prototypical Locomotive Lighting

This manual is more comprehensive http://www.digitrax.com/static/apps/cms/media/documents/documentation/decodermanual.pdf If you wire the yellow wire to the rear light and the white wire to the front light, they will be directional by default. You can control whether they are on or off with...

    Did you buy it?

    Intermountain es44dc question.

Mine runs smoothly and quietly. I am sure it is an expense driven decision. If most locos sold were DCC, they probably would default to including it. Brendan.

    Intermountain es44dc question.

I purchased 2 of the BNSF ones and they have DCC. The NS one is listed along with those in their catalog. From the Intermountain site "All InterMountain HO locomotives shipped from InterMountain after January 2011 are DCC equipped from the factory" Brendan
