wtf is with the GN patch on BNSF units?

It has something to do with BNSF owning the GNs roadnumbers through the BN aquisition. They are Using GN reporting marks because they needed the numbers before they could sell the SD39s.

The UP did the same thing, with WP reporting marks.

There was a thread on our sister forum a while back about this.
 
Im not a member on the sister site. THat doesnt make sense to me, I can see if they needed the space on the roster,But huh? lol Thanks!
