I'm working on building a 3 model to print of a cable drum. Would love to hear some feedback.
Initial dimensions are taken from

I chose Type 25A which has a diameter of 2500mm which scales down to 28.7073mm (1.13in). I've made the flanges out of scale 3.75x2in boards at 90 degrees to each other. The center is also made out of 3.75x2in.

I'm thinking of printing in 3 pieces and glueing as I enjoy the modeling aspect of 3d printing not just the printing.

The design was created in OpenSCAD so everything is parametric so I can easily change the dimensions to another type of drum.

Thanks for any feedback.

If you're going to model these drums with cable on them, you might consider making the center spool bigger so you won't need to wind so much cable.

The size of he drum would depend on what the drum was being used to store or transport. I've seen drums for electrical cable in varied sizes and then there's drums for plastic pipes of varied sizes.

Just do what will look the best for your applications.
