Used Atlas plastic piers and Woodland scenic foam risers and dislike both. Is a plan for wooden risers cut from stock wood available? I have machine tools and good skills. The net has layout plans but no dimensions for the piers and sheet stock cuts for the track bed. Replaced a straight run of WS styrofoam risers with pine, that is a solid track, like to keep going.
I used a power miter saw to cut risers from 2-inch thick extruded foam, but I easily could have done the same thing with, say, 2x4 lumber.
I used the risers to support foam sub-roadbed, but again, the sub-roadbed could be plywood instead of foam. Below is a photo showing some risers (pink) supporting sub-roadbed (blue).
I did not have any plans for the risers, nor have I ever seen such plans. I temporarily supported the sub-roadbed with scrap material, then carefully measured how tall the risers needed to be. I then cut them with a slight angle on top that corresponded to the required grade.
