Will a Kato locomotive bought from Japan work in the USA?

Will a Kato locomotive bought directly from Japan work in the USA that has a different voltage current?

It's the transformer or control station that supply's the track power regardless of whatever house voltage you have.
As far as I know, all HO loco motors, regardless of manufacturer are 16v to 18v.

12 volts is 12 volts, no matter what country it's from.
