Certaintly true, can’t have the rails dipping into a dried up creek or filling in a dried up creek to make it flat cross over.It is actually estimated that in the Unites States there's a bridge for every mile of railroad built. Basically a comparison of bridges vs. miles of railroad. Even traveling through seemingly flat midwestern prarries one can see hundreds of dry creeks, which only become streams during rainfall with wooden beams bridges crossing them.
Very cozy looking railroad, i like it.Bridges are more about joining my roads, but give me an excellent excuse for a water feature

even under the bridge is still about the water
I have two planned for my layout. I have the bridges already, but I need something for them to span to really make them bridges. That'll have to wait for some foam to carve.Bridges make the modelrailroad.
You can use 1x3’s as well rather than foam .I have two planned for my layout. I have the bridges already, but I need something for them to span to really make them bridges. That'll have to wait for some foam to carve.
Also, bridges are just cool. No tunnels planned for me (this time)
That is what I think too. Tunnels are used on model railroads to help hide some of the roundy round appearance and break view from one scene to the next.Probably because tunnels make good view blocks, and trains going over bridges are just cool!
My layout won't have any tunnels, because North Central Wisconsin. At one time, there was a series of 3 tunnels closer to Tom O- starting west of Fort McCoy, it ran from Sparta southeast to Elroy and was reportedly the first "rails to trails" park in the country. However, I do plan to have a bridge or 2 to span the surrounding rivers and creek beds.I have no tunnels, but I have three bridges because they look cool.
Snowman- as anyone who has been to Trainfest in West Allis, WI can attest, that last picture bears a striking resemblance to the infamous "Zoo Interchange" at the junction of Interstates 41, 94 and 894.And then there are the Chinese, who seem to have a fondness for stringing strands of spaghetti...er...noodles, sorry...through mid-air.
[Warning! No airborne railroad tracks involved at all (as best I can tell), but there could be a ground-hugging rail line near the left edge. So avert your eyes if you are at all squeamish]
Of course you can always overdo things too:
I'll need triple martooni...er...martini after this. No, I mean I'll need a second triple mar.........tini after this.
