Wow that's looking great!
Walthers makes a nice locomotive, good weight to it and smooth runners.
I have three, one I swapped shells with a Life-Like F40ph because it was the yellow Home Hardware version.
Wonder if a Kato shell crosses over as well, hmmm….
Fantastic work! I love that level of detail. It's too bad they don't all come that way from the factory. A lot of Euro locomotives come close, but you've gone above and beyond.
That is some great detail work there. Really clean bending and modeling on the brass lines too.
If I ever get an AMTK train it will be pulled by F40's.

Testing the ditch lights (type 402 is the smallest that will fit, and I only have them in red for now). I already found a fault in the ditch housing - metal casting has a hole at the bottom and light is leaking - needs some putty.
I'm adding 5 LED flood lighting underneath near the steps. Because the shell fits flushed to the metal chassis, I had to use a Dremel to create a groove for the wires to sit snugged, whereas the shell fits nicely without interfering with the LED wiring.
Have a test LED lit near the cab. I don't like the white LED, gives off a bluish tint, will probably go with a warm white LED. Also, I think will need a higher resistor, it's a bit too bright.
