Trouble with consistent speed

I got a GP38-2...Conrail...Moves like the wind, it seems newer tech runs nicely..

Which GP-38-2?
A new Lifelike,

An Atlas Trainman

or an Athearn RTR,

or maybee something else? I figured those life likes were an issue.

That would have been my choice of the bunch. Doesn't it make you wish you would have gotten one a long time ago? That is how I felt in 1984 when I got my first Kato drive RS-3.

If you eventually go to DCC using newer Back EMF decoders you will notice even better performance. Especially that annoying runaway problem going back down hill.
