I will venture to guess

From is predecessor the South Carolina Canal and Railroad Co. its first Steam was "the Best Friend of Charleston"

and I will guess for diesel a Baldwin VO 1000

Trivia day? This something new?

My guess.

Last steam loco: S15 4-6-0 in 1968

First diesel loco: British Rail Class D3 in 1937

He's asking specific questions about the SRR in the US. I know both answers, but you guys can figure it out. I'll give a hint, in May 1953 the last steam engine on the SRR Systems left Cincinnati, Oh and ran to Chattanooga, Tn, where the fires were dropped. Steam was now gone on the SRR.

Hey Doctor!

I misread the question! LAST steam, not the first steam. DOH!

I'll try again, thanks for the hint.

Last steam: 2-8-2

I will assume I was wrong about the diesel too and guess again

First Diesel: EMD FT

I hope somebody gets this right because now I am curious and I don't have any books about the Southern Rail Road.

Hey rdeal,

How about the answers?

What do we win? If I got 1 out of 2 can I still get half the prize?
