I'm fairly new to the Hobby so I was curious about what type of transformer (plug in?) I should use to power my atlas 65 under table switch machines. I am running a DC system and don't want to power the switch machines from either cab control transformer. Basically need to know output voltage, type (ac or dc) and VA rating. Thanks for the time to respond to this question.

I use a cheapo transformer from an old Tyco or Lifelike train set. Use the AC terminals. 12-16 VAC should work fine.

Model Rectifier Corp (MRC) makes the AD515 accessory transformer for DCC. It is a separate AC-only pack that I use for my switch machines. Just wire it up with one wire as a common bus, and the other wire to the power side of the toggles (or Atlas slide switches) that control your individual switch machines. (Remember to use temporary buttons, etc., so you don't burn out the switch machine solenoids, unless you are using continuous duty "stall" machines.)
