Bought the Paasche Single action external mix about this time last year and put in on a shelf in the closet. Last week went to Harbor Freight and got their airbrush compressor. So, spent about 1/2 hour with it this morning and now I'm an expert. ;) Well, I think I could paint a building with it anyway. Everything seemed to work real well. The compressor is on sale for about $59.00. I think it will handle anything I want to do and no need to have an air tank, and it's pretty quiet. While using this I found out you can't have any air leaks, make sure you tighten all connections and with tape where you can. The hardest part was the clean up of the airbrush. Used distilled water first to clean as good as I could then went to 91% Isopropyl alcohol. I used ready to use acyrlics from the artist supply near me. When I picked up the paints I was eyeing the set of brushes for clean up the store had for $20. 4 little brushes for the nozzels and tips, and one wire brush(tooth brush style), Decided against that and went to Harbor Frieght again, and they had the 4 little brush set for $2, so got them there, and they came in handy. I will have some buildings to paint before too long, and gain some more experience. So, if you are on the fence about an airbrush set up, The set up I have didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Sounds like you got some good deals there for sure.
We'll be waiting for some pics!
Grab some el cheapo freight cars and practice weathering when you're cleaning your system out.

I just recently got that same exact brush. I really like it too. I'll be doing alot of painting this winter, my structure projects are starting to pile up.

When using Acrylics I find the easiest way to clean the brush is with household "Windex". The acrylic paint will wash away with very little if any effort on your part. Just make sure to use it in a ventilated area if you are going to spray it through the brush. When you are done give the brush a rinse in plain tap water and dry it off.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I will try it next time.
