Timonium 1 & 2 Feb. Who Will Be There?

Wish I could make it, but getting to Springfield, MA from KC kinda took care of the MR/vacation budget for a while.

I wish I could go, every time there is a train show in Timonium my back acts up or its too hot for me to go out.

The Rolling Stones were right, What a drag it is getting old.

I hope everyone has fun and hopefully one day I will see you there!

Depends on the weather, how I feel Saturday Morning, and how the wife feels. The prospect of the long drive, for what? about 2 hours or so at the show and the long drive back really works on the mind. Once in the car however, all those concerns are forgotten. Firm answer - maybe:rolleyes:.

I'll be there!
Once again I will sacrifice my mind and body for the hobby, and work the "White Elephant" table. Yes its busy, and yes, I do see some good deals before they hit the table too!!;)

Carey, weak excuse there!! :)

Hey Karl, if ya see some good deals on the 89' TOFC flats, can ya set them aside for me? I'll be in there shortly after opening on Saturday.

I usually try to make Timonium. It's been my experience that the shows in the colder months are better. However, I have to work....

I will be at the Wilmington, DE show in March though.

Please go and support the event if you can!!

there is a box of 10 TOFC flats, TTX reporting marks, but the look a little short to me. 10 for 120,,,I dont know if you would be interested at that price.

I ended up going to Timonium today. Like CSXDC, I am in Loudoun County, Virginia, so its an hour and a half drive for me. I always enjoy viewing the layouts and the built up structure kits. But, this time, I ended up coming away empty handed. I had four items on my shopping list and struck out on all four. The advantage to attending Timonium on Saturday though (instead of Sunday), is that I can then drive a couple miles down the street to MB Klein Hobby Shop (Modeltrainstuff.com) and see what goodies they have on the shelf. I didn't find what I was looking for there either, but ended up spending about $65 at MB Kleins anyway. Guess I'll just order the items I couldn't find from Walthers.

I went up to Timonium. It's a couple hours drive from King George, VA. Found quite a few odds and ends to fill out my TOFC interests of my empire; TOFC cars as well as trailers to populate the rail cars, a few all metal oil tankers, a half dozen coal hoppers, with and without loads and a couple of short gondolas that I will load with steel coil loads. I stopped by MB Klien and bought a couple of InterMountain UP locos with sound along with a couple of Case Crawler Excavators for flat car loads and a end of train device.

I've found that the more shows I attend, the less I buy. I guess it's pickiness that stems from experience. I still manage to spend a chunk though.

I am a little surprised that MB Klein doesn't participate in the Timonium shows. Perhaps they think that they are close enough that they don't need to attend- people will come to them.

I did take a few pictures (mostly of HO scale displays and structures. Most of the club displays and manufacturer structure displays were the same ones we usually see at Timonium. The Micro Scale Models structures are always impressive, and this time Bar Mills had a very large display of their structure kits. There was a vendor there that had built some very large highly detailed HO scale industrial structures like a Budweiser brewery and a complex identified as "LSD Sulfuric Acid Manufacturing Co."
Here a link to photos I took at Timonium today, and at Timonium shows last spring and fall. The last 34 pictures in the album are the ones I took today.

Up until just a few years ago Klien was at the Timonium shows but then scaled it back to a single table with a note directing people to the store with a lure of 10% off the most expensive thing ya buy on the show dates. After that, they quit attending the show all together because they began to realize everybody would make the obligatory trip to their store anyway, so why bother lugging all that stuff to the show plus pay the table fees.
